“I would say no turnovers, getting my teammates good shots. Making my shots for sure that matters(laughs)… And really just being super solid on the defensive end, dont let the guy score on me directly or have it be my fault in any way. Really just trying to help the team in any way without me messing up”
Rob Dillingham on what qualifies as a good shift for him in the rotation

Air balling layups and throwing the ball to imaginary people.
Him saying “trying to help the team in any way without me messing up” makes me sad. He seems so low on confidence.
This is the standard. We may not agree with the strategy, but Finch made it pretty damn clear that Clark, Dilly, and TSJ need to make the best of their first shift to earn a second shift. We are not constructed in a manner that’s conducive to developing young guys through their mistakes. It may come back to bite them later, but the goal has always been to win as many games as possible so Ant and Jaden have multiple opportunities in the playoffs. With that said, we are a team where young guys can come in and be effective with 1-2 clearly defined skills. This is why Clark gets minutes – his shot may be inconsistent, but he defends and he can cut from the baseline – he knows who he is right now and follows the game plan.
Unfortunately, he is at an all time low and the league knows it.
Finch killed his confidence
Been in this situation before and it’s damn near impossible to play to your abilities when you try to play perfect basketball. Its unfortunate cuz I don’t think this group has a real shot at winning a ring this year anyway unless we get lucky with injuries. So what is all this really for?
He looks like a HS kid bro. Needs to train with Giannis in the off-season and bulk tf up.
Clark has zero confidence especially if his wide open 3’s don’t fall. Where is the TJ that went at the Lakers last season when Ant got ejected and Dilly, basically I can’t do anything wrong quote. Jesus Grinch what the fuck. These guys watch all the dumb plays by the starters and must think mission impossible.
Honestly, great answer from Dillingham. It’s encouraging that he knows these are the goals. Now he just needs to execute more consistently.
Is he the worst player in the NBA?
The more and more I watch his minutes the more I’m seeing the failures of Finch and the bench unit rather than Dilly.
He was asked very early on to be a pass first guy rather than score first which isn’t the way he’s played his entire career. He’s made massive progress in that department, then he’s asked to step up defensively- he’s made unquestionable progress on that end of the floor. The “glaring” missing piece of his game is the shot, which certainly needs to come around but the shots that he’s taking for the most part are because of a failed set (mostly not his doing, Randle asking for an ISO while Dilly is setting a motion or a lot of Naz blowing his screens or being paired with Clark who is never guarded) once that initial set breaks down, our offense pretty much just stands there forcing Dilly into some wild and super contested takes. Maybe he’s not seeing the first outlet but I also know it’s not helping him being paired with Clark and Rudy, which I understand from a defense standpoint but I think you’d be better off with swapping Jaden and Clark in his minutes because Jaden has substantially more gravity and has improved his off ball movement a lot.
I know this is not enough, but he tries super hard. Maybe too hard. His defense is not great but I still come away impressed with his effort. He’s small, but maybe he can get strong. I don’t know how to feel about his talent but I’m not sure I’ve ever wanted a player to pull it together more than Rob.
He’s too small, doesn’t get enough minutes to develop or get rhythm. Connelly has busted drafting every season, clark is OK but streaky on offense and tsj has no confidence anymore. Whatever finch is doing, it’s not working. Bench is awful.
Just focus primarily on being a shot maker. That’ll buy him time for everything else, but if he’s shooting 35%, all the playmaking in the world probably won’t save him.
Just from this little clip why do I feel like his IQ is on the lower end of the spectrum?…..
Make shots, no TO’s, play defense……
No shit Sherlock
Rob aint it 🙁
Overthinking the game especially for him is gonna be so detrimental you can tell Bones doesn’t overthink it too much which is why he looks more fluid.
