Orioles Nearing Deal To Acquire Shane Baz From Rays
Wonder what this means in terms of a marte deal

WHAT IS GOING ON
Also, there was never going to be a Marte deal. I think the rebuild starts now.
Bro what… do I miss Stu already?
This team is trying to make me not root for them anymore.
Rays getting prospects 10,11, 6, 30 and a draft pick from BAL
Ohhhh, I get it now. We’re rebuilding.
Slater de Brun, catcher Caden Bodine, right-hander Michael Forret, outfielder Austin Overn as well as a Competitive Balance Round A pick
How come no invited me to the garage sale
We got the private equity kind of new ownership not the ‘we want to win now’ kind lmao
Well I knew when I bought the signed team issued authentic Shane Baz jersey during the 60% off sale that he would be traded the day it arrived. I was hoping it would be because he was going for Marte. The jersey is due to arrive any minute now and hes going to Baltimore.
Alright more slap dick prospects
The return is huge for him
Why in the division ugh! I hate trading to a team in our division
Rays saving $15M with these trades today. Marte is due $15M in 2026.
I read the magic ball. Told me we are getting couple of single A pitchers and couple of minor league shortstops
Pretty good day for the Hot Rods and the Biscuits as their rosters get stacked for 2026
We just fleeced the O’s
NEANDER BUDDY YOU BETTER HAVE A PLAN😭😭😭
Why are we trading players to divisional rivals? So stupid
The 10th prospect was their first round pick this year. 6th prospect was drafted this year in the competitive balance round.
So we’re going to waste years of Caminero and Aranda with an uncompetitive team that’s rebuilding, and then they’ll sign with other teams because they’re sick of losing.
Way to waste the #1 offensive prospect in baseball. We’ll never see the postseason with Caminero.
If this team would just spend some fucking money there would be no need for a rebuild. All the team needs is a few decent FA signings and a few lower level signings for depth and we’re back to fighting for the division lead. Instead we’re cleaning house and only getting prospects, none of whom are above AA.
Why is this my team? Why is the team that I chose to love and follow as a child? I’m so fucking sick and tired of having my heart broken every year.
Get ready for Yandy Diaz trade news to drop.
Fuck these new owners. Literal fucking billionaires who won’t spend any new money and will doom this team to a cycle of rebuilding and falling just short of a true win because you cant win the World Series on a budget of $60-$70 million! Hell, when the Royals won it all they had a payroll of $113 million, and that was considered a true small market win! The Rays would never.
Unless they get Marte out of all these moves, ticket sales are going to be rough.
Ugh
50 wins max
Wtf. New ownership just trying to completely kill off our fan base to relocate, maybe?
As much as I love the wizard of Baz, the return here looks really good! Just makes sense if every team in the east is buying. Overn was one of my favorites from last draft
Damn that’s a hell of a haul for a mediocre ass Baz… Two 1st round picks from this year, 2 other solid young players PLUS a 1st round pick this year?? That’s wayyy more than I thought
Fuck me. I thought they had traded Sugar Shane.
After 10 minutes and looking at the Orioles board, finally realized it was Shane Baz when they kept calling him replacement level pitcher.
I could be wrong but Baz ties back to the great Archer trade.
This is a solid trade.
Get some quantity and quality. Maybe not super high end quality, but quality nonetheless.
Baz only has 3 years of control left, so gotta strike now to get max value if you don’t think he’s gonna get any better.
BUT he is a popular candidate among those in that analytics word to be a strong bounce back candidate (I agree). Just changing home ballparks will make world of difference imo.
Interesting in division trade. Hope they are right about Baz.
Does this mean the Rays still won the Archer trade? Asking for a friend that hasn’t seen the postseason since 2023.
Why?
There goes my other favorite
Nice!
Totally not predictable at all that my favorite position player and favorite pitcher from 2025 would be gone by opening day (lie).
i mean, sucks to lose Baz, but are they serious with this return? This could set the team up for a decade if it works out – absolutely monster haul for a the guy
The Delmon Young trade tree graphic I keep updating for some reason is getting too damn big.
