Things just got REAL for the Eagles following a wild playoff shakeup…
So, the Eagles have a chance to do something that hasn’t been done in over 20 years this weekend. However, the Commanders are pretty clear about wanting some revenge for the NFC Championship game last year. The question is, can they do anything about that? Or will Philly keep up the momentum they have from last week? In this video, I’ll get you caught up on all the latest injuries with both teams going without key starters, plus share the best picks and plays for the game on Saturday. Also, the stakes just got raised in the NFC following the Rams loss, so let’s talk about that and everything else around the birds. But first, let’s run it. What’s up, guys? Can you believe we are less than a week away from Christmas and the Eagles have a chance to clinch the NFC East? Okay, I know you can believe that, but remember, if the birds beat the Commanders, that’ll be the earliest Philly has clinched the NFC East in a season under Nick Serriani. Plus, it’ll make the Eagles the first repeat champs since 2004. So, this one means a little bit more and we’re putting a little bit more on the line. So, here’s what we’re going to do for the regular first touchdown score. Sometimes it’s a jersey, sometimes it’s tickets. This time it will be the ticket giveaway. All you got to do, like the video, leave a comment here on this video who you think the first touchdown score will be. And one lucky subscriber will be chosen out of whoever gets those correct, one person. If the Eagles win, like I say, if the Eagles win and clinch the vision, then I’ll spin at the end of the game stream for one lucky subscriber. So, feel free to take whoever you want and come hang out as we cheer on the birds during the game. Also, reminder to make sure to set your clocks because this one’s at a really strange time. You know, with the Saturday kickoff being at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time, just saying the last thing you want to do is forget and miss the NFC East clinching game. >> Oh, I can’t believe I missed that. >> Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Now, to be fair, and as we’ve seen most of this season, no opponent is a foregone conclusion. Meaning despite the Eagles on paper having a favorable matchup, Washington’s going to be out for a little revenge for the body bag game in the NFC Championship. >> They want revenge. >> SQUAN TOUCHDOWN. Barkley touchdown. Herz gets the shot. Herz in. Her to throw near side. LETS HER RIP. BROWN DELAY. HERZ IN. TOUCHDOWN. THEY’RE GOING TO GO AND HERZ IS IN. BARKLEY OUTSIDE. BARKLEY TOUCHDOWN with what they >> is in. >> Yeah, having a 50 burger dropped on me during the NFC Championship game would probably have me getting up a little bit more for a game like this one. Yet, given that this will be Washington’s best shot, that’s not deterring any of the so-called expert analyst into picking the Eagles. Makes me nervous. >> It’s a seven-point spread. I mean, surely the Eagles can get the dub. Although, like others have pointed out, even with Jaden Daniels out, the commies have shown the ability to stretch their opponents. I mean, give them some credit. They took the first place Denver Broncos to overtime and had a chance to win before a failed two-point conversion ended the game. The other factor that comes into play here is nobody wants to be the team that helps a rival clinch the division. Which is why I say unlike the Raiders game last week, I don’t expect the commies to just roll over. >> You got to get up for every game. It doesn’t matter who you play. And any given Sunday, any team could beat you uh if you get caught slipping. But, uh, like I said, it’s the vision of opponents. You know, they know us, we know them, and, uh, I think it’s on their mind, especially coming off of last year. You know, the way that they lost, you know, you want to kind of get back at Eagles, but we have to go out there and execute. We know we’re going to get everybody’s best. Uh, from the Raiders to the Commanders to Dallas, it doesn’t matter who we play, we’re going to get everybody’s best. So, we have to go out there and make sure that we’re on a tiptop game. And when we do our jobs, it’s going to be very hard to beat >> clinch this division with with how competitive this division has been. not having a repeat winner in 20 years to be able to clinch the division. >> Be super cool. Be super cool. But, you know, we can only do that if we go out there and execute. You know, Washington’s going to give us our best games cuz we’re in the division. Uh, we always get the division’s best. And, um, you know, we have to go out there and do our jobs. When we go out there and do our jobs and execute, we put our hats and shirts on. But, um, for right now, we just had to go out there and do it. >> It’s awesome. Uh, you know, it’s it’s definitely exciting. Uh, for me, like you said, is I’ve never been a division winner before. And you know, even kind of seeing the the history of this, I didn’t realize how competitive the NFC East is just in the sense that there’s I think not very wasn’t the last time there was a backto-back uh conference 21 years. >> Yeah, exactly. So, I mean, I think it’s it’s, you know, pretty rare in a a talented conference like this. So, uh it’s very something it’s it’s something that’s exciting to be a part of and I’m just glad that, you know, I get to be a part of it. So, it’ll be fun. you know, we know it’s a opportunity to win the the division and we’ll we’ll cross, as my dad used to always say, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there, but I’m excited to be able to go out and play football and coach football um and uh you know, get an opportunity for us to get better against a wellrespected opponent. Look, all that being said, the Eagles offense in particular has an incredible opportunity to keep things rolling. We talk about building momentum from the Raiders game and the Commander is set up perfectly for that. And look, don’t lie, that’s exactly what we need to see from Kevin Patillo in this offense if we’re supposed to have belief that the birds are truly getting hot at the right time because I really don’t care that the commies are extra amped for this one. They are the worst ranked defense against the pass and have given up the third most passing touchdowns this season. And not that they were great before, but both starting quarterbacks in Marshon Latimore and second round rookie Trey Amos are on the IR, which has resulted in an average passer rating allowed of 107 while being one of the most points generous teams in the league. Oh, also the 107 is not good at all, just in case you’re curious where that falls. Not very good. But what’s even worse is the Commanders give up the second highest passer rating when quarterbacks are targeting tight ends. With Jimmy Kimsky pointing out Washington linebacker Frankie Lubu’s embarrassing coverage numbers, get this. He’s allowed 34 receptions on 36 targets. That’s 94% for 294 yards and four touchdowns. And then Bobby Wagner is not as bad, but he’s allowed 35 receptions on 45 targets for 475 yards and three touchdowns. Though fine, I guess he does have two interceptions. All in all, Washington has allowed 73 receptions for 905 yards and nine touchdowns to opposing tight ends this season. And knowing the concerted focus to get Dallas Goddard more involved only adds to the massive advantage. Like hearing that and then thinking about it does make you wonder why the commanders are only getting seven points. against Philly. >> Too good to be true. >> Nothing adds up really when you look at it just on paper. Plus, remember that terrible Washington run defense last year? Yeah. Well, it’s absolutely abysmal because just like Frankie Louvu was avoiding blocks toward the end of the NFC Championship game, he’s done the same thing this season with Jimmy pointing out the fraud willingly getting out of Penny Su’s way in the run game earlier this season. But honestly, it doesn’t matter even when he tries because Luvu’s missed 16 tackles. Which means, if you’re doing the math there, that he’s missed a tackle on 20% of his tackle attempts. So, I’m 100% behind the suggestion to run the ball at number four. Although, I guess it doesn’t really matter because Washington’s Dline has struggled against the run and getting pressure on the quarterback. Of course, three of their better players are on IR, but kudos to Von Miller, who actually has three sacks in his last four games. Something right tackle Fred Johnson will have to contend with on Saturday. Still though, no matter how you look at it, the commanders are bad. Like really, really bad against the run, the pass, and their personnel is deep into their reserves. I mean, we say it a lot of weeks, but the forecast here is if the Eagles play up to their standard, they should win really big. And on that note, it’ll fortunately be great weather for once, too. With a forecast calling for partly cloudy and temps around the mid-40s with wind only about 5 to 10 mph, it’s the perfect scenario. The perfect scenario to win big, just like underdog is the best option in fantasy sports. And all you got to do to take advantage is scan the QR code there on your top right. Use code Philly special or click the link in the description. A $5 play gets you $75 in bonus funds. And that’s not the best part because with Christmas right around the corner, they’re running their underdog unwrapped promo, which is basically a fancy way to say they got a ton of Unreal boosted payouts and bonuses all the way through the holiday season. I’m telling you, you’re going to regret it if you don’t get signed up. Now is the time. For the Eagles game, though, here’s the plays that I’m going with. So Saquon Barkley, he had 78 rushing yards last week against the Raiders. The Raiders are underrated against the run. I just went through several different mentions for why the Eagles should be able to run the football. We saw it last season. It’s not really an improved squad. So I’m taking Saquon Barkley higher than 77 and a half rushing yards. Also Jaylen Herz, I think I’ll go with for the second play. Higher than 35 and a half as his longest completion. Now you may say that’s a lot. you go back and look at some of the past games, but the Commanders have given up the most 40 plus yard passes in the entire league. So, I’m going to double down there. Take the explosive play. We know that Jaylen’s good for at least one shot. We’ll probably have a couple of them in this game. And then you do have to, if you’re not aware of this, but you do have to pick an opposing player on the opposing team. So, for me, I’m taking Marcus Mariota to run for at least 30 rushing yards. Thinking here is the birds have an insane pass defense. We already know that. Really low completion percentage allowed. Mario has shown the willingness and the capability to take off and run and scramble. We’ve been beaten in the past by it. So, I will take 30 rushing yards because he’s going to try to do as much as possible to keep them in the game. Those are the plays. So, to recap for you, I got Saquon Barkley higher than 77 rushing yards. Jaylen Herz to throw a completion of at least 36 yards and then Marcus Mariota to run for at least 30 rushing yards. Let me know in the comments what you think about those plays. And again, as always, make sure to scan the QR code. Take out your phone, scan the QR code, use code Philly special. $5. That’s all it is. A $5 play gets you $75 in bonus funds and some crazy boosted payouts and promos all throughout the holiday season. You know, mentioning that Mariota running component, the Eagles are about to get a good test to clean that area up. Since they’ll see Mariota twice and Josh Allen once in between, which is probably good because the birds have had three quarterbacks already go over 50 rushing yards against them in Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Jackson Dart. Of course, Terry McLaren is always a guy to keep an eye out for, but Quina Mitchell has won two of the three battles they’ve had so far. And with the Philly pass defense being locked down like it is, plus Mario ranking 21st in EPA per play when throwing it, you’d have to imagine he tries to take advantage with his legs. Come on, the more that you look at this thing, that’s where I’m feeling like. If the Commanders have any shot at all to hang around, the seven-point spread is just kind of odd. But if they’re going to, it’s through Mariota. After all, he’s got 49 rushes for 300 yards and a touchdown on the season. something Vic Fangio is very much aware of. >> Marcus Mariota is very very similar to Daniels and he can run their full offense including the gun run game. It’s something we got to be aware of and make sure we get handled. >> How about the scrambling element of it? Like obviously in structure it’s one thing. How do you make sure that the scrambles don’t beat you? >> Yeah, we have to pass rush as a unit, not as individuals and open up seams in between our rushers that he can step up and get through. You know, a lot of times he’ll scramble up inside just as much as maybe getting outside. And um you got to rush as one. >> Great defense. Uh Vic’s got them playing really well. You can talk about every single player on that front. Um and on the back end, they’re they’re great players. Um being there for a year and being around those guys, uh it’ll be fun to just kind of play against some of those uh old friends. So, I’m I’m looking forward to it. It’s always a great atmosphere to play Philly and um it’ll be a fun fun game once. >> I’m really interested to see this thing play out because like I mentioned earlier here, the Eagles had struggled previously to contain rushing quarterbacks. There’s a little bit of a change though we’ve seen recently and it’s something to certainly keep an eye on. And that shout out to Jeff Mosher. But after being among the highest blitzing teams earlier this year, the Eagles are scaling way back on extra man pressure. But the best part is they’re still sacking the quarterback and actually doing it at a higher rate. That’s right. The Eagles have the NFL’s fourth most sacks since their byee. But where Fangio blitzed 41% of the time against the Rams early in the season and 29% of the time back when they played the Chiefs, you can see the last several games have allowed him to still affect the quarterback without having to send many guys. Okay, yes, the Bears game is an outlier. I see that and kind of disproves that point, but I still kind of take it as a one-off. Look, personally, I think it’s a dangerous compliment because as I’ve said there, if you think about early in the season, Fangio blitzed because he had to blitz. We weren’t getting pressure. He didn’t have the guys. Nolan Smith was injured, banged up, finally went on IR. He’s got the guys now to only have to rush four. So, it puts the defense in a bind cuz it’s like, hang on, we know they can blitz. And also, the players have proven it to themselves. So, they had that confidence going in, but teams looking at the tape go, okay, they they have the capability. We know the linebackers are insane at blitzing, but now they have the ability or the option to not do that and throw off an opposing offense. Anyway, it’s a bigger advantage than I think some people want to admit. But for Saturday, it’s a short week and the Eagles have been susceptible in run defense, especially coming off of short weeks. And despite the commies not being great on offense, all three running backs in Bill Crosky, Merritt, Chris Rodriguez, and Jeremy McNichols were averaging at least 4.5 yards per carry. So, that’s where you say don’t get pushed around, set the tone early, and force Mariota to beat you with his arm. especially because starting left tackle Laramie Tonsel is officially out for the contest, which only sets up the trending Philly pass rush more to crank it up. Again, signs are positive, but you never know in a division rival game. Anyway, for the full latest injury updates, here’s where we’re at. For the Eagles, as expected, both Lane Johnson and Jaylen Carter were officially ruled out for week 16. That is really the best case scenario. Give them as much rest as possible. Get them right for the playoffs. Again, with Saturday a chance to clinch, there’s an opportunity or really a possibility that we see them not even play until the playoffs. And then both Cameron Lu and Cameron Williams are officially listed as questionable. Lu is significant just because he played more snaps as the fullback/tight end. The running game should be fine regardless, but just something to monitor there. The great news is that every other player that appeared on the Eagles injury report this week is officially good to go, including Landon Dickerson and Fred Johnson. However, for the commanders, like I mentioned previously, they officially ruled out Laramie Tonsel as well as three other players. And then one surprise was seeing Jonah Newton pop up as a surprise with an illness. But again, a lot of times we see these things pop up and then players able to go. So, I would expect he’s still able to play. Washington did get a good boost though with Bobby Wagner back as a full participant. I mentioned he’s not good against the pass game obviously, but he is one of their better players. That’s not saying a whole lot for the defense, but one of their better players out there. Also, in other news, and flipping gears real quick, the NFC playoff picture just got flipped on its head after the Seattle Seahawks pulled off some kind of wizardry magic to come back and beat the Rams. Now, personally, nothing that Sam Darnold does will ever fully scare me that Seattle’s a legit contender. However, the fact that the Rams lost means there’s a realistic possibility that Los Angeles will be on the road and Seattle is the overall one seat. And look, if anything, Thursday just proved even more so that it’s literally any given day this year in the NFL. The birds just got to stay healthy and get hot at the right time. And that starts with Saturday. So, normally this is where I have Anthony on. Shout out to the Ant-Man. A little sickness there, so was not able to record. But score predictions, first touchdown score. Let me know in the comments section. I’m going to take a Saquon Barkley as the first touchdown score. And I’m also going to go with the Eagles winning 2713. Maybe not enough points for you guys, but it is going to cover comfortably. Take care of business. Let me know in the comments. I’ll see you on the game stream. This has been the Philly special. Feel like I should feel like I should feel like I should go.
