Shane Baz Traded to the Orioles…O’s Pay Too Much? & Brandon Lowe to the Pirates in 3 team Trade.

The trade market is on fire this Friday afternoon. The last Friday before Christmas. Everybody getting their last minute shopping done on the trade market apparently as the Rays are open for business. Trading Shane Bos trading Brandon Laauo as they are bringing in some significant young players, prospects, pieces for the future. It’s kind of what they do when players get to this point though. Bos is an interesting one and we’ll talk about that. There’s an interesting wrinkle with this whole Shane Bos thing. Uh, and I’ll just get right to it for those that want to know like right out of the gate. Bos is interesting to me to be an Orioles [snorts] acquisition because part of what has spoiled the start to his career is injuries. This past year for Shane Bos was the first time we’d seen him get through a season and we saw plenty of ups and downs for Shane Bos in that there were times last year where he looked absolutely incredible. There were times last year where you didn’t want to give him the ball. But we are in this man made his debut in 2021. So we are actually heading into the fifth season that he’s going to be pitching at the major league level. But because of the injuries, he still has three years of arbitration. So this is it’s amazing. They just traded Grayson Rodriguez because he kind of had a similar profile. Young pitcher career failed to launch. Injuries a problem. And then goodbye. We don’t want you. We’ll go with Shane Bos. We’ll go with the guy who has an injury history, but we don’t know him. He’s a little bit more exciting. He He’s a little bit more tantalizing because, you know, we don’t know him. Uh we know Grayson Rodriguez. We don’t like you anymore, but we like that guy. It’s It’s that meme of that guy with that girl and the other girl and he’s looking back and he’s doing that ooh face like that’s kind kind of giving me vibes of that. Now the difference is Grayson didn’t pitch last year. Shane Bos did. So there’s more shine on Shane Bos here. I don’t know that that this is going to be interesting. We talk about comparing the comparison in 2026. Shane Bos and Grayson Rodriguez will be stark. They both have multiple years of control left. They both are young pitchers whose injuries has derailed the launch of their career. Not often you get a train and a rocket metaphor put together, but there you go. You’re welcome. So, I I don’t know. This is I mean I I like what what Shane Bos could be. I mean again he showed glimpses last year. He looked great. But look at the hall. Look at what they’re giving up. Slater De Brun Kaden Bodin Michael Ferrettes Austin over as well as a competitive balance round a pick. What I just Okay. Is this here’s the question. If if the obvious Okay. statement then question. Statement is obviously the trade market for pitching with control is out of control. Just don’t tell the Orioles that because they traded Grayson Rodriguez for one year of a bat. Good bat, but just one year. Look, look, look at what the Rays just got for Shane Bos. Oh my god. Um, okay. So, hold on again. Again. Is this is this going to be the ace? Do you do you pay that price for an ace? Hold on. I I I don’t even have fan graphs updated here. We’re going to talk about the other trades. I really like the Brandon Low trade. Really like that for the Pittsburgh Pirates. But this one as I’m going through it in the moment, like literally processing this, I I’m liking it. I’m actually liking it less and less. Uh oh my god. Why is this all the way to the bottom? I didn’t go all the way to the bottom. Okay, now I know. Shane Bos isn’t going to be the four here. You’re trading for Shane Bos to be in the top of that rotation. But but the point is he’s not a clear number one. Not a clear number one. And the Hall that is given up. Now, these are all guys who the heck knows what they’re going to be at the major league level. Nobody does. Nobody’s got a crystal ball. Nobody can foresee that. But Slater Debrun, the number six prospect in the Orio system, a 50 out of 80. This was a number 37 overall pick this past season. 18 years old. Still a lot of development. He could be a monster. Uh we don’t know. We don’t know. It could go either way. So you have Slater De Brunt. You had Michael Ferrett. He’s the number 11 prospect. 45. You had Kaden Bodin, a catcher, another 45. This is a lot. Uh where’s is Austin Overin in here? I don’t know if he’s a top 25 prospect or not. Uh he’s number 30. So, yeah, whatever about this. I mean, okay, adding another prospect in there. I’m sure the Rays scouts did their homework and they know that he’s a he’s a he’s a diamond that just needs to be shined up. He’s a diamond in the rough. So, and the competitive balance round a pick. This is an insane price to pay for Shane Bos. Like, you’re telling me that Edward Cabrera is gonna cost more and I would rather have Edward Cabrera over Shane Bos? This is crazy. I mean, am I on an island? Am I on my own here? This is an incredible deal for the Rays. I I hate to say this, but I feel like the Orioles just lost another trade. I I I don’t again Grayson How many years was Grayson Rodriguez? They got Taylor Ward back. How many years is Shane Bos and and they gave up what? And Grayson Rodriguez very likely could have a better year than Shane Bos next year. Very realistic to think that is a possibility. If you are an Orioles fan, I wonder if you’re happy. What’s up, Chevy? Any Orioles fans that are here? Any Orioles fans looking for talk on this deal? Any fans that are not connected at all? Not a Rays fan, not an Orioles fan, you’re just doing your own evaluation. What’s your thought? Do if that’s what the market commands, do you pay that? Uh Connor, you got mixed feelings. Do do you pay that? Do do you just walk away? Like what if you go to a grocery store and all of a sudden a loaf of bread that was, you know, four bucks yesterday is 20 bucks. Keep your bread. I I I’ll go somewhere else. Like I I I don’t know. I’ll I’ll I’ll eat I’ll use lettuce. I’ll I’ll do something else. Like what do do if that’s what the price is? Why, right? Like what was the price a month ago when you traded Grayson Rodriguez? It wasn’t this. I am it. It’s definitely an overpay. Bridge, you got overpay. Paul, you’ve got overpay. Uh Chevy, you’ve got overpay. Um Andrew with an overpay. Just I I I really like this is a great job by the Rays. The Rays did it again. Phenomenal return. You’ve got five players to hit on here. Five of them. De Brun, Bodin, Ferret, Overn 30. Overn’s number 30. The other two are either in the top 10 or right there. and then a competitive balance round a pick which will probably be another top 15 prospect. All of that for Shane Bos. And I I hate to say it, but there is a chance that Shane Bos makes 15 starts for you next year. Um that’s a problem. And again, when you think about what they’ve been linked to, Edward Cabrera, you need to tell me Edward more than this guy. Lock it in, shut it down, forget about it. We’re not going to see any more trades for pitching the rest of the way. If this is what gets you Shane Bos, I can only imagine what team what what the Nats wanted for Mackenzie Gore, what the Marlins want for Edward Cabrera. I I c I can’t even I can’t even fathom what the price is for that. Or the Orioles just got to take it for a ride. But it’s going to it’s going to adjust the market. It’s going to upset the market. Think about the Dylan CE contract. how that upset the market when we think about Fabra Valdez and Zack Allen and Ranger Suarez and these other pitchers and and the deals not happening because they see the sea still already. Grayson didn’t yet. >> I understand Shane Bos it’s this is again what was what did I just say the number was? He’s entering his fifth year pitching major league innings this year and only once has he made more than 15 starts. It’s in it’s incredible. I don’t know. I hope he’s healthy. Look, at the end of the day, I am rooting for your team to do the right thing. I think the Rays did the right thing. I don’t know if the Orioles did the right thing. So, I I’m going to be a little critical of this. Doesn’t mean I’m not rooting for Shane Boss to go to Baltimore and be a monster. I think Shane Bos if he if he reaches his potential then I I I think Shane Bos definitely has a better season than Grayson Rodriguez. But they both I I I see potential concerns for both of them. And this is the package that you that that that that it cost. I I started to come to the the idea just the other day, well last night when we were talking about the Michael King signing, that the Baltimore Orioles, who had also been linked to Michael King, may be in a position where the free agent market is just overblown and they don’t want to go that route anymore because they don’t want to pay $200 million for Framaldez. They don’t want to pay $200 million for Ranger Suarez or Zack Allen because I don’t know, maybe that’s what those guys are asking for. So, they were going to have to go the trade route. This is interesting. Another note about this trade is that it’s none of the guys that you expect to get traded out of Baltimore. None of the major league guys, nobody that has the service time clock ticking. There’s no Kobe Mayo in this deal. Uh there’s no Colton Cowser. There’s no none of those guys. This is all this is a straightup deal for prospects which is I mean if you’re the Rays this is the way to go. So an A+ for the Rays on this trade as far as the Orioles go. We got to wait. I mean it looks like a massive overpay. We got to wait and see. Shane Boss could be great for three years and these prospects may not do anything. But on the surface >> prospects are blocked on the MLB roster. all those prospects are blocked on the MLB roster. Well, here’s the thing. Like, we got some teenagers in this group of players and we got a guy that’s not even drafted yet. Um, by the time those guys are major league ready, it it’s going to be it would be the next wave because Gunner’s not going to get extended here. I’d be shocked. Gunner’s going to cost too much money. Gunner’s going to be 400500 million. I don’t think the Orioles are going to do that. Uh just because of his age and because of the talent and because of the trajectory he’s on. There’s there’s there’s going to need to be another wave. Now, you can wait to build that wave, but still um if they were blocked at the major league level, too power too powerful. I thank I thank you for your donation. If they were blocked at the major league roster and they were all banging on the door to get up to the big leagues, then that’s one thing. Yes, deal from those pieces. But this is a significant part of the farm system, a significant part of again a a later wave, not the wave right now. If you’re trading guys that are blocked at the major league roster, you’re trading Kobe Mayo, you’re you’re trading Dylan Beavers, you’re trading those guys because those guys may have a tough time finding playing time in 2026. This is a little different again, but to your point, a they’re blocked. that a there is no home for them at the big league level in the next three years or so. And I’ll I’ll even add this in. They may be nothing. They may not have what it takes at the major league level. Who knows? You move up the ranks and they may completely fall apart. Maybe the Orioles scouts look at this and they’re like, “Oh man, we made a mistake with Bodin. Does anybody still like him? Oh boy, Michael Fret, we got we got to worry about this thing. He does this wrong. We don’t like it. Maybe we can turn him into something else.” It’s a lot though. It’s a lot and and it’s not a it’s not a guarantee. Again, this placement does not mean Shane Bos is the four, but what it does mean is that he’s not a a top of the rotation guy. And I just feel like that kind of prospect premium should bring back a clear top of the rotation guy. They’re taking a shot. They’re taking a shot. It’s a big one. And the comparisons will be there with Shane Bos and Grayson Rodriguez all year. All year. So we have that trade. That is one Tampa Bay Ray on the move. We had the three team trade that went down. Chandler Rome told us that there was serious discussion between the Astros, the Pirates, and the Rays would send Mike Burroughs a Pittsburgh piece to Houston. Brandon Laauo from the Rays to the Pirates and involved multiple other players. Those other players, Jacob Meltton, Anderson Breto, I believe altogether the final trade was that the the Pirates get Brandon Laauo, Mason Montgomery, and Jake Mangum. The Astros get Mike Burroughs. That’s the only piece that they get. And the Rays get Jacob Belt and Anderson Breto. Jacob Meltton was a top prospect. Is that Are we good with that? If you’re Houston and you’re moving on for a guy smaller like Gallon, >> if you’re moving on from Melton, are you good with it being Burroughs coming back? Melton one time, most recently top prospect in that organization. The ORS got boss for a guy smaller like Gallon. I mean, I’m I I I’m I’m curious going back to that trade real quick. I’m curious if this is any indication about the Orioles willingness to spend in the free agent market for any of those top guys. It it might be a and we’ll find out in time an indication on the Orioles were or were not willing to spend. They’ve made a lot of moves that if you go back you wonder if they would still do that move. Uh you know the Taylor Ward trade, would they still do that move if they knew they were going to get Alonzo uh the Tyler O’Neal signing? Would they still do that move? If they knew they were going to get Taylor Ward, like obviously these things come come along down the road. You know, if if something falls in their lap, I think that’s the only way they end up with somebody like Zack Allen or or one of those top pitchers is if it falls in their lap. Uh this this this probably is an indication, the boss trade of what they’re thinking right now. And if anything else big happens, it’s just going to be a surprise. It’s it’s it’s going to be a pleasant surprise because you know now maybe they focus on the rotation depth and they move on from the framber Valdez, the Zack Allens, the Ranger Suarez. I still think Ranger Suarez will be a good a good fit here. I think Framer Valdez is going to cost too much. We’ll see. Uh we’ll see. Uh I do like Mangum too. I I I do like uh Jake Mangum. Brand Brandon Laauo. Uh, I have been talking about a Brandon Laauo trade since I mean, look, I don’t want to take any credit for this because Brandon Law’s name had been out there for some time, but uh, to me, I I had put him as a as a lock to get traded this off season. There were some Rays fans on this platform and other social media platforms that wanted to push back on that that that said it was crazy. But, it’s just it’s it’s where you’re at. It it was the time to do the deal. So, let me actually have I think the best place to find the the trade for this is just going to be um underdog MLB because they they they aggregate all this stuff and put it together. It was right there. There’s our trade with the Pirates, the Astros, and the Rays. Uh from an Astros perspective with Mike Burrows, you get an interesting guy to work into your rotation. I’m curious where uh let’s see what is what what do the what do what do the um the geniuses over at Fan Graphs have for Burroughs and his placement? Uh they see him. Do they do they know the deal went down? Am I am I stroking out right now? Did this not happen? What What’s Okay, we’ll have to Oh, >> I like Ranger and moving Wells to seventh or eighth inning. Not bad. I would love for you guys to get Ranger. Okay, so this has not been updated yet because we still have we still have Melton on the Astros and he’s a Ray now. So fan graphs has not been updated. All right. So thinking about the Astros because we can get them out of the way real quick because they have the one piece. A guy like Burroughs definitely fits in towards the back of that rotation. I’m curious if at any point he had been a I I I the Pirates had so much top pitching prospects. I I’ve lost track of them all. Ashcraft, um I mean Harrington, uh Chandler, it goes on for days. Was Burroughs one of those guys at all? There he was. the number 11 ranked prospect last year. You see what he did last year. 19 starts with the Pirates. Put together a very decent first full go with Pittsburgh. I feel like if you’re Houston, you get a lot of control here. You get a pitcher. What did we like from him from a grading perspective? Really good fast ball, nice curve ball, nice change up. I mean, this is always amazing to me when I look at these grades. Anybody else look at this and you’re like, “Huh? 60 fast ball 55 curve 55 change control 50 overall 45. What? Everything is 50 or higher. How is this overall a 45? It’s got to be I don’t know the the the velocity on the fast ball, the break on the curve ball, but then how does it get a high grade? I don’t know. Seems like this guy should be a 55. And again, I I I like the piece that goes back to Houston here. Um, he clearly probably shows up as the four with some upside. So, I like that. I like that for the for the uh Houston Astros here. And for the Rays getting Jacob Melta, getting Anderson Breto, more pieces as you are as it was broken down here. All together you see everything that the Rays got today. Melton, Breto, De Brun, Bodin, Foret, Overn, and a draft pick. It’s a ton of a a ton of youth, a ton of control. If we’re going to be building something for the next couple of years, these are some of the guys that it’ll be built on the shoulders on. But the Rays get belted Brito all good. Burrows cool. What I want to focus on though is the Pittsburgh Pirates portion of this. Tell me they’ve updated that. I’m I’m gonna guess if they hadn’t updated the Houston side. We haven’t updated this. Let’s see. And I You don’t understand Tampa’s take on this official. It It’s just Brandon Laauo is in the final year of his tenure with the race. They were never going to extend him. And the way that they stay competitive is when when players get to the end, they deal them. They don’t wait for them to get to free agency and then walk. They deal them. Yandandy Diaz, jump borrow time there. They go and turn those players into another wave to come and help them in a year or two. So that’s how they stay competitive. That’s how they stay relevant. It’s it’s the playbook. The Bos thing is a little interesting, but there had been talk about Bos for some time. It is interesting. The Rays trading the Rays choosing Bos. What do they know? I mean, they’re it’s a lot. It’s a lot. And and the fact that it took that much may also be an indication of how much the Rays wanted to hold on to Shane Boss. So, maybe that’s a a positive check mark we can put next to the uh next to the Orioles for this move. All right. So, is is the deal not a >> I like being willing to move that many as part of a trade. Baz pitched way better on the road, so should be fine in Camden. O could still go for Cabrera or Gore. Cabrera could be done with some some some players that are at the major league level. I think Gore would be another prospect play. Cabrera could be some some major league pieces. I I mean I’m I’m I’m I’m rooting for the Orioles to grab another piece. Whether it is the trade for Cabrera or a free agent splash for one of those other starting pitchers, one of one of those other top stop top starting pitchers. That’s what I want the Orioles to do to to make that team better, to give that fan base some excitement and some juice. There’s already some buzz with what they’ve done with the lineup. I want to see them equal that with the with the pitching staff. So, um it is nice to see them willing to move some prospects. It just feels like they got a little too loose with it. But again, maybe that’s an indication of how much the race didn’t want to trade him. And if that’s the case, that’s a good thing. We go back and forth. So I Why are we not seeing this updated on Fangraph? Somebody that’s with me live, tell me like do we are we still waiting for this deal to be announced or are we in are we still in uh I went to lunch. I went to lunch. I come back. Uh here we go. 40 minutes ago. The O’s in the Rays deal is done. So are we Shane Bos heading from the race to Orioles terms nearing deal. We are still in the medical phase. So we have not been able to update everything for this this uh Brandon Laauo trade which seems like it will be okay. So we are still we are still waiting for the finalization of that trade. So I guess that could still die. that could still fall apart if if medicals don’t go right or so I don’t know somebody gets cold feet that could still die down but that is I guess we’re on watch for that trade at this point if we get that make sure I say all this correctly now if we get this deal done I love it for the Pittsburgh Pirates they’re going they’re giving up a a a young pitcher that is expendable at this point. There’s a lot of control with him, but um you think about how this Pittsburgh Pirates rotation is going to be built. It’s not going to be built with uh w with somebody like um why am I blanking on his name? Uh Burroughs. It it would not be Traers in medical review. There it is. It it’s not going to be built on him. He would add some nice depth, but you get Brendon Low. And it’s not just Brendon Loud. You get other pieces as well. If you were just getting Brandon Lao, then you could scratch your head maybe a little bit on it. But you get Brandon Laauo and on top of it, you get those other pieces. Let me see if I can pull that back up from underdog. There’s the Matt Stum thing. [snorts] Where’s the underdog? Here it is. You get uh Jake Mangum, you get Mason Montgomery. And again, uh was brought up earlier. Mangum maybe feels like he’s kind of lost in the weeds with this one. Mason Montgomery is an interesting piece, too. But for Pittsburgh and their ability to contend in this upcoming 2026 season, we’ve added just Nixon Garcia. We are adding Brandon Laauo. We get Nick York out of there. All of a sudden, we’re putting together something interesting here. And from a power potential, Brandon Laauo gives the Pittsburgh Pirates a guy that can hit 30 home runs. something as you can see they did not have last year. O’Neal Cruz led the team in home runs with 20 and second was 16 home runs from Brian Reynolds. So with Brandon Laauo you now have a guy that can pop 30 home runs insert him right into the middle of that lineup and maybe you even get into a situation where do you get a Brian Reynolds bounce back because he’s got some protection there. I don’t know. Maybe Brian Reynolds is cooked, but you get uh a nice middle of the lineup bat once this Brandon Loud trade gets through the medicals. I would I would like to see Spencer Horowitz moved up in front of these guys. Maybe we get to a situation where you get O’Neal Cruz out of the top of this lineup. Do you want to have I mean the 353 batting average the highest on or not batting on base the highest on base comes from Spencer Horowitz. Do you have Spencer lead off? Straight up. Does Spencer lead off because he’s going to get off base and the guys that are hitting behind him can do some damage. O’Neal Cruz with a bounceback season. Brian Reynolds with a bounceback season. Brandon Laauo does his thing. Garcia develops. There could be some interesting results out of this lineup. Some impressive results with the right again bounce back from Cruiser Reynolds and bringing Brandon Laauo on board. And I like Spencer Horowitz’s plate approach. I like his uh on base rate. These are these these are good things for the pitcher prepared. the bottom of their lineup. They’re gonna have to figure that part out. But the top half of that lineup could be pretty could be could be pretty competitive. And I and I like that. I I I want that for Pittsburgh because I you know what I really want to see, especially I’m an American League. I’m I’m a fan of an American League team. You know what I want to see happen in the National League? Tell me you wouldn’t love this, too. I want to see this man right here pitching in October next season. That’s what I want to see. What do we have to do to get Paul Ske into some October baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates? I don’t think he’s going to spend his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, unfortunately. But I do think we have a couple of years here where you can surround him with the talent to go out there and grab at least a wild card spot. And let’s see Paul Ske pitch in October. Let’s see Bubba Chandler, Braxton, Ashcraft get up to speed and see them pitching in October. That could make the Pittsburgh Pirates, especially if you have a team that can knock in some runs, that could make them a very interesting team, a very a very a very difficult a very difficult team to deal with. Uh, baseball authority, he’d have to be on another team. That’s why we got to add adding Brandon Laauo. I wonder if if you add Brandon Laauo and you know you only have him for one year. Does it push you to do one more significant thing, one more significant move? If you bring Brandon Lao in, you can’t you can’t come up short. You don’t A you don’t want to waste another Paul Skiing season and B you don’t want to waste what would be your only Brandon Laauo season. So that’s two elements right there that should be motivating factors to say, “Hey, let’s make the playoffs this year. We still need >> the fact that has already had Tommy John while Grayson seems on his way to needing Tommy John was why did these moves?” >> I thought I heard some more comment that um and thank you for the super chat. The Orioles wanted Grace Rodriguez to do certain things uh in in in his um either in his recovery or in his um ju just in his workouts or I I I it’s it’s not all coming back to me and and he was either reluctant to do it or wouldn’t do it. So there was there was just something um potentially that that is also looming. If the Orioles figure he’s going to need Tommy John then um then then you miss even more time with that. Uh Shane Bos should be good to go. So that’s I think all of these factors all these factors come in I think all these factors do come into play. Um ultimately it seems like uh there was there was a relationship between the player and the organization that that had kind of gone south. So um yeah the the bos trade it’s still it’s a lot. It’s it is a lot. Uh Bidler Murakami is this weekend. Yeah, he should be right. He has until the 22nd. He has until Monday at 5:00 p.m. So that news should break at some point. That would be uh that would be good. And I wonder how that impacts the market because there are some corner infield guys and teams in on corner infielders. What about the Pirates? What about the Pirates to get Murakami? That’s kind of interesting. If the Pirates grab Murakami, too, now they but but now the problem is they start to get too left-handed with Cruz and Horowitz and uh and Lao and Murakami. they’re probably too left-handed and and a lot of the the thump is on the left-handed side. So that probably that probably reduces that likelihood. But if Murakami goes to a team that has also been linked to guys like Bregman and Yinho Suarez, then that’s one less team for for for those teams and maybe again moves the market along, gets gets deals done. So, um, yeah, I like, uh, I like I like the idea of them adding another piece. It just may not be able to be somebody like Makami because of that. I mean, what about Einio Suarez? Let’s go get one of those Suarez teams off the board. Get get them out of the way because they signed Makami and then it is one less team that is in the negotiation process or muddying up the waters and then you can go get Suarez. Suarez is not going to be a crazy deal. If you’re the Pittsburgh Pirates, go grab Uhio Suarez. Make him your third baseman. Him and Brandon Laauo and a bounce back from Cruz and Reynolds. Like, I’m starting to get excited about a Pittsburgh Pirates season where Paul Ski can if if they don’t make the postseason, at least he’s he’ll be pitching in meaningful games late in the season because they should be able to hang around and contend and and compete. get Murakami off the board and then set your sights on on Yu-Gi-Oh Suarez if you’re the Pittsburgh Pirates. I I think that’s way I Yes. Uh the Angels for Murakami is a great destination. That’s that’s my pick. That’s my prediction. I think that’s I think that’s what needs to happen. I just wonder about the Angels. I just wonder about the Angels money situation. Uh though Casanos could be a fit in Pittsburgh for a bounceback year. Uh thought on Casanos being there. So, Casanos would either be in right or DH. Do they move Reynolds to left? I don’t know if you trade it for Garcia to then start him in the minors because he’s he’s ready to at least have a shot. It would give you a a backup option. Casianos is a DH maybe over somebody like Sinsky. I don’t know. I don’t know if this is necessarily a Casianos. Feels like that could be a worst case scenario if you did uh Nick Castanos here in Pittsburgh. Maybe that’d be a worst case scenario. I don’t know. Uh let’s see. Drod Angel’s good from definitely. Where are the Red Sox moves? Great question. Great question. I don’t know what the Red Sox are going to be doing because they don’t want to spend money apparently. They don’t want to go uh do any deals more than three years and and they’re just I don’t know. I think the Red Sox Red Sox are just stuck in neutral. Don’t know which way don’t know which way to go. Phillies can’t give Castiano away even eating most of his 20 million. Nobody interested. Well, see, and that’s an interesting I’m glad you brought that up because the other trade that went down today, while we wait for this one, hold on, let me wait. Let me let this donation play. Do you think the Pirates could part with Harrington or Hernandez for a package headlined with two or three of the following Mount Castle Mayo Beavers Cowser or maybe one for one for Adley? >> Um, I think they could. I think that has some legs. I I do think that has some I if you traded Harington can you get if you trade Harington you’d still have skins Ashcraft Chandler Keller you don’t have you won’t have Burrows it it’s got some legs especially if you get it the impact bat in return I guess it just depends on the market what’s the market. What’s the better play? Is the better play to go uh tap into the trade market? I don’t know. The Mayo Mayo’s value seems a little little little down right now. Beavers seems high, but high compared to what? Because Beavers did well last year. Cowser feels like that’s a little low. Mount Castles is in the tank for trade value right now. Um Adley, Adley’s is not super high right now. Um, I don’t know if I would give up somebody with such a high ceiling as as Harrington and all of those years because it’s only two more years of Adley. It’s a good that’s a two powerful. That’s a that’s a good super. That’s a good question. That’s an interesting idea. I do think there are some legs to that. I I do think so. So, where was I just saying? Right before that, we were looking at Ah, I lost it. What were we? What the any What was What was I just saying a minute ago? Uh, I’ll just I’ll keep reading super chats. You guys keep reading super chats and maybe it’ll come back to me or somebody will remember what I was about to say. >> They have the pitching prospects to get the deal done. >> I think I was responding to somebody else’s comment, which is why I want to try to remember what I was just saying because I think I was responding to somebody’s comment. Casianos, right? We were having the conversation about Castanos, right? All right, we were about to go talk about the other trade that went down. Thank you, Medie. Uh, real quick on Campbell. Uh, Medi, stay close because it might happen again because I’m going to go into the super chat. I want the Cubs to trade for Mayo or Rutman. They have the pitching depth and prospects to get the deal done. Uh, they do. Yes, they do. Rutman would be very interesting there. I don’t know if you need him. I I just I want the I want the Cubs to go get the starting pitching. I want them to go get the ace and with with all of the young prospects they have make that development with with Tucker’s on the way out. And I’ve talked a lot about replacing Tucker’s production, but maybe you get that replacement in house. Maybe you get that replacement in house from Bisteros or or Casey or somebody like that. And if you go get that ace, you should be able to contend through up until the deadline. And if it doesn’t work with Bisteros or Casey, then make the trade for the bat. Maybe maybe that’s how they go. But that they kind of need to get the ace to to make that happen. So, the Castianos thing, um, this trade here, this Matt Stum trade to the Kansas City Royals is a clear indication to me, uh, well, there’s two things that were going on here. There was a apparently a problem between Matt Strom and the organization. Um, somebody had it. I can’t remember who it was. cuz I wish I I had it cuz I um somebody’s got to have it most recently. Maybe not. There was an issue between Stum and the organization and that sort of moved this trade along. That is that is one element to take from this. Um, additionally, you think about how he had 7.5 million. The the the the financial situation for the Phillies is that they have reached last year’s tax number, or at least they had. Now they’re back below it. They had been at the tax number from last year, the $300 million. They were there, and they still were interested in bringing JTU Romeo back. There’s there’s still other things to do. So now this indicated to me we’re we’re getting to the cost sav we’re getting to the salary dump portion of the off season for the Philadelphia Phillies. Matt Stum $7.5 million comes off the books. Um the fact though that Nick Casianos is not included in this trade to Kansas City. Kansas City could use a bat with some pop for that outfield. I know they they brought in a couple pieces, the trade with the Brewers and signing Lane Thomas, but the the Lane Thomas, I don’t know what we’re going to get from him. And Isaac Collins does not profile as a power hitter. One could argue maybe Nick Castados doesn’t anymore at this point. But if you could get him included in that deal, then you give it a you give it a shot. You see what you’ve got there. It tells me that the the market for the salary dump trade for the Phillies, Nick Castanos and Alec Bow, Bow’s got like 10 or 11 or 12 million do his way and you got the 20 million for Castanos. If if this is what we’re doing for Matt Stro, seven.5 million, it kind of tells me that the the trademark for those other players is just dead right now. It it is it is uh virtually non-existent. There’s no trades that could happen there. Yeah, somebody did it. Uh there you go. That’s it. Good news. Uh good news, Gami. That’s that’s basically that’s kind of it. The you know there’s there’s that’s that there you go. I’m going to I’m going to I’m going to like that one. So, um what else do we have? Cubs want my Jim. A my would be a good piece for the Chicago Cubs. I do like that. Did San Diego overpay for King? I do not believe so. Aris, thank you for the 24month reup on your platinum membership. Happy to have Matt Strong back in a royal uniform and an anchor lefty in the bullpen. Yeah, Kansas City’s done a good job this off season with their additions bringing in players. Clearly want to uh get back into an October conversation after last year’s disappointment. I I like the way we’re going. if they can figure it out uh between Lane Thomas, Isaac Collins, and the rest of that outfield group, try to find the right mix or still go get another bat. I like the idea of them making a swap here at second base, getting Michael Massie out of there, getting somebody else in there. Um, you know, this is the this is the reason for grabbing somebody like Nick Castanos. I mean, I from a from a power potential. I mean, we’re try I’m trying to get some power to Kansas City. I think Castiano is gonna bring more power than Jonathan India and just a matter of what he did with India at that point. But you’ve there there’s I mean maybe India goes and plays second base. I don’t know how well he can play second base anymore. But there’s an upgrade at one of these two spots and whether that is through trade, whether that is through free agency, there’s I think it’s probably through a trade. I don’t I don’t I don’t see the second base market being there. They’re not going to go get Bobaed or anything like that. From the pitching side of things, they’ve they’ve got wealth to deal from. Whether it is Bubich, uh whether it is Cole Reagan, Cole Reagan’s I would think would fetch somebody like Catel Marte, Chris Bubich, and a prospect I think could fetch somebody like Chisum. >> So, we’ll see. Yankees are sleeping. Go get your See, Kylie Kyle, I I got I gota I’m gonna come back to that in just a second. Uh but R say the Royals are making moves and I like it. the situation with the Yankees. Kyle, my question to you as a Yankee fan, do you consider the fact that in May, whoever you go get right now isn’t is is going to be lacking a spot because the the Yankees the situation there once Cole and Rodon are back then, then the rest of the rotation is free, Schlitler, and Heel. uh guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy like Will Warren moves to the bullpen I don’t think he’ll moves to the bullpen and I think you want to develop Cam Schlitler so going and getting a guy like I just doesn’t seem like it it just doesn’t seem like it tracks right now that’s that’s I mean the six-man rotation thing would they go on a six-man rotation for Amay when it maybe messes up the other five dudes I don’t know about that. I don’t I don’t necessarily think that’s what they want to do. So that’s why I don’t think they go do the my thing. That’s why I feel like a Chris Bubich trade. You got Jazz Chisum. If you can get Bubic and and a and a and a solid prospect from the Kansas City Royals, you you you you would open up a spot where you need to get a second baseman. Uh Vulpi will be back at some point. Maybe Cababayro slides to second when Vulpi is back. And you have Vulpi and Cababayro in that middle infield. Cabayro doesn’t stink. Cabayro is a good baseball player. He doesn’t have the same power profile as Jazz Chisum, but there’s enough power that profiles in this lineup to where he can maybe just go with the defense, go with the speed uh w with with that group uh with Cabayro at second and and Jazz again if he’s going to bring you the pitcher because I think Bubich could transition to the bullpen. And if Bubich is in the bullpen, then you have two lefties. I don’t know who what this Brent Hedrickk they’d be Tim Hill and Chris Bubich would be your lefties out of the pen if you if you did that move. So I that’s that’s my thing about the the Yankees and where I think they land. I don’t I don’t know if they go and get that kind of a pitcher. I don’t see the need I I see a clear path for bringing Kyle Tucker to the Yankees. And there are people that say where would where would Kyle Tucker play? I I don’t see Kyle Tucker fitting in here. I think Kyle Tucker would fit in. So, but I don’t I don’t see that big picture. I don’t see that happening. Yeah, but if the Yankees start 15 to 32, they’re cooked in the East. I don’t think they would, though. I don’t think they would start 15 and 32. I guess we got to go take a look at the Yankee schedule and see exactly how that would play out. But I think they would still compete. I still think they would still contend. and and 15 and 32. I I don’t know if it’s going to be that many games. What What if What if you’re 15 and 15 and and you start getting those guys back? I don’t know if you get 15 and 32. That’s almost two months worth of games. Do the Red Sox do anything? I mean, at some point they will. I I don’t know when and I don’t know what because they are impossible to predict at this point because I mean they’re just not they’re not using the assets they have at their disposal from a financial and a prospect standpoint. The Red Sox are a mystery. There’s there’s a lot I mean especially you trade a Rafy Divers away and yet you still don’t want to spend money. You have you have prospects for days. You you have guys we’ve talked about this with the Orioles and their trade. You have guys banging on the door ready for big league reps at big league at bats, big league innings, and and and you don’t have room to accommodate it all, but you won’t trade anybody. Uh it’s off seasonason’s still young, things could happen. But it’s just been a uh it’s just been a mystery of a start from the mindset of this of this Red Sox organization to this point. Uh Craig Brezlo is not capable of making deals. Didn’t he do the Garrett Crochet deal though? We like that. That was a great deal. That That’s something the Orioles should have done. That’s something the Mets should have done. Craig Brezlo with that Gar Crochet trade did something that a handful of other organizations should have done. And the Mets had the farm system. The Orioles had the farm system as well. They didn’t do it. Craig did. So, I got to give Craig some credit for that one. John, how you doing, man? Aris, thank you. >> The whole Jazz situation from the 2024 playoffs is still a thing in the mind of Garcia and the Royals fan base. Jazz and Garcia still beef on Twitter. >> All right, so we kill that one. Good point. I had forgotten about that. Uh, we kill that one. That makes it tricky because I don’t see I don’t see a lot of trade partners for the New York Yankees for Jazz Chisum to get pitching back that helps them because quite honestly if you’re trading for relievers, dude, it’s it’s it the room is pitch black. I who who’s really available? Who is and who isn’t? I mean it that’s tough to pinpoint as far as what relievers are available and which ones aren’t. So then you think about the the pitching element and the the pitching that’s where that is where the from a from a starter perspective. You think about that that market I’m going through it right now. I mean, I don’t want to I don’t want to trade Jazz for a pitcher on a bloated contract for a couple years. I don’t want that. So, I don’t want Severino. I don’t want Mitch Keller. Um, he doesn’t do enough to get you somebody like Cole Reagan’s. And we’re not doing Kansas City anyway. He doesn’t do enough to get you something like Hunter Green. He doesn’t He doesn’t do enough to get you somebody like Mackenzie Gore. He doesn’t He doesn’t. So, it finding a trade partner for Jazz Chisum is challenging. I I landed on the boobage trade because when I looked at the pitchers who are who match the the the walk year component that Jazz is also entering into and the and and and and that whole line line of process and and and the farm system and everything it it there were not a lot of teams that that checked the box which was which was a problem. I mean, jazz does not get you Freddy Peralta. >> Jay’s rotation full does berios go somewhere. >> I think I saw um Bleacher report had Jazz for Freddy Peralta. I I don’t think it does that. Uh who plays second base? Uh we talked about it just a moment ago. I think uh at some point Vulpi will be back. Vulpi shorts stop. Cabayro second base. And in the meantime, you have Ed, you have Ahmed Rosario, you have Oswaldo Cabrera. You sort of get through until Vulpi is back and then once he’s back, Rosario goes to a bench roll. Cabrera goes to a bench roll and you have uh you have Cababayro and Vulpi at the middle infield if you trade Jazz. Jay’s rotation full. Does Briio go somewhere? Weston Burios’s tra’s contract is very difficult to trade. That is a a problem that I see because he has uh he’s coming off a down season and he was fighting injuries. You have him and and his his his final year before a player option and and if he picks up that player option because he stinks. It’s like $50 million more dollars. I if he’s great, he’s gone and that player option doesn’t exist. If you’re trading for him, what are you giving up? If you’re the Blue Jays and you’re trying to get something back, how much money are you sending with the player to get a deal done? The Bereos trade thing is fascinating. It almost seems like Brios needs to be included in with some other piece. >> I think the Orioles block players fit the Reds better. Maybe they can get AB, but I don’t think they could get green. >> That’s an interesting one actually. Uh, too powerful. I kind of like that. Hold on. Let me make sure I didn’t miss any of the super chats up top. Uh, ours had your super chat and Wes with your super chat and too powerful of yours. I like that actually. I really like that. I think about the Cincinnati Reds and the situation. Let me get that out of the way. Uh they have the ability and we saw it with their pursuit of Kyle Schwarber. They have the ability to grab somebody to either DH. They can move pieces around. The dominoes could fall just fine. Uh and and Gavin Lux ends up being the odd man out in in the entire equation. But if you are the Reds and you make Andrew Abbott available, is this a Kobe Mayo? Um, is this is this is this a I don’t know if it’s a Jordan Westber. I don’t know about that. But thinking about the corner infield guys that the Orioles have, not Ryan Mount Castle because Ryan Mount Castle’s value is cooked right now. So maybe it’s just we come back to Kobe Mayo. Kobe Mayo and he could he could play first. Spencer Steel goes to the quarter outfield. That’s interesting. That is an interesting one. Um let’s think about the other Orioles players that could maybe go back to Cincinnati in that trade because I would like Andrew Abbott in that group. I I would like Andrew Abbott in that rotation. I’m a I’m a I’m a big Andrew Abbott guy. So assume that Tyler O’Neal is actually the right fielder, not Dylan Beavers. Is Dylan Beavers in that trade? Is Colton Cowser in that trade? Thinking about the lefty bat because that is something Cincinnati needs. Um Mayo does not bring the lefty bat with him unfortunately. But Cowser, Beavers, either of them, you wouldn’t get B I don’t think you get Bio back. You’re not going to get Jackson back. Obviously not Gunnar. So, Beavers, Cowser, one of those two. When we think about the rest of this group, I mean, it’d be too much to do like Cowser and Mayo for Abbott. That would be that feels like that would be too much. H Kirstad, do you do Kobe Mayo and H Kirstad for Andrew Abbott and you give H Kirststad a shot? Hston Kerstad disappeared. It’s an interesting idea. It’s an interesting trade idea for Andrew Abbott. I like that one. Like that idea. Blue Jays need might need to package somebody like Lopeid with Brios just to get out of his contract. That’s what I mean. I feel like you’re if you’re the Blue Jays and you’re trading Jose Burios, you are kind of in a situation where I don’t think you can trade Jose Burio straight up. There’s too much money. There’s there’s too much complication with that contract. He’s coming off a down year. There’s there’s a lot of intricacies there that that don’t make him easy to trade. By the way, anybody see Steve Cohen’s comments earlier today? Buddy, listen. The pro and I don’t think he gets it. People are giving you a hard time about your money. Not as I mean, look, we we see that payroll is currently down, but anybody with a with a functioning brain understands there’s still a lot of time and and you can get back to last year’s payroll with just like two or three players and they’re going to sign two or three more players. It’s it’s going to happen. They will get back to that. It’s not that. It’s the fact that the guys that they have brought in and the guys that they have let go. The guys that are in are a downgrade over the guys they let go. and the guys they brought in cost less than the guys they let go. That is where you look like you’re being cheap and then people go to the whole payroll conversation. And and the problem with getting really defensive about it is that if you don’t if for some reason you don’t get back to last year’s payroll, let’s say the Mets trade a piece that has some significant financial attachments or whatever, right? If you don’t get back to last year’s final or above, then you’re going to you’re going to eat some You’re you’re going to eat a lot of it. Especially after you got defensive and basically said, “Well, that you will then.” So, just honestly, I think you just let it be. Ignore that Steve. Ignore it. Abbott for cursed mayo. >> Absurd Mayo and Aaron Estrada >> might get the job done. might get the job done. Cohen is scared of 2028. Why is he scared of 2028? Do you mean 2027 when we have a new CBA? Because that would take place. That would that would that would be uh that would take impact in 2027. Let me see what else. Anything else going on here from a uh a news rumors perspective? Looks like we’re still waiting on that deal for the Pirates and the Rays and the Astros to become official. But we’ve talked about that even as we are sort of in watch mode for that. And we talked about the O trade for Bos. A little uh little uneasy with how much they gave up. And touched on the Phillies and Royals trade. Again, not a whole lot to say with Phillies and Royals. Again, Phillies trying to get money off the books. They had to trade the guy. The Royals get another good bullpen piece. The Royals are looking to look at aggressive and I like it. Uh I’m just saying that because he doesn’t want to give more than Oh, that’s right. Yes. Yes. He is afraid of three years down the road. He along with David Sterns and John Henry and Craig Brelo are all scared to death of three years down the road from now. Do I think the Astros will trade for anyone or sign anyone? I mean there well there’s been a lot of talk about Jake Myers. I think there’s a very real chance that Jake Myers gets traded and well actually I don’t know you just traded Melton. I mean, thinking about this outfield group, I mean, it it kind of seems like Houston’s got to move one of those infielders, right? Isach Parade is a DH, but that doesn’t work. Yordon Alvarez is going to DH. Why isn’t this What are they doing on Fan Graphs? Yordon Alvarez is the DH, not Isach Parades. Zach Paredes is kind of the man left without without a position unless he could play the outfield which I don’t think that’s the case and teams are going to come in talking with Houston feeling like they got Houston over a barrel because again fine fine don’t trade him enjoy him being on your bench in a perfect world you never would have done that Christian Walker deal and Isach Parades could maybe run first base for you and and Walker wouldn’t be there But that’s just the situation they’re in. I hate to see him give up on Parades because I would rather have him over Walker, but Parades is going to have more trade value. There we go. It’s updated. Wait, do are we official? Earlier we were on the website and on Fan Graphs and it did not have the pieces in their new homes, but now we do. Guys, are we official? Uh, Zack Allen could sign with the Astros. Would shock MLB. He He could Are we official on this deal? We were We were waiting for physicals. There doesn’t look like there’s anything new, but Fan Graphs is moving pieces around now. Uh, Mike Burroughs is with the Astros. There he is at the number four spot. Is somebody watching? There’s somebody from Fan Graphs watching. So, you have Burrows in at the four, which I think is about where he fits in. And I like that you get him for I mean this was his first year. This should be five years of control I think with Burrows. I like that you’ve got some options for the back of that rotation with Houston. You get you get the bounce back from Javier. You get a bounce back from McCullers. You know you’ve also got Spencer Aragetti in play and you’re gonna look for a bounce back from him. I mean and you also think about this Houston situation with Bryce Matthews. I mean, that’s another reason why getting somebody like Christian Walker out the door, it gives you a chance to play your top prospect who’s ready. Look at there’s there’s so many guys that could be options for the back of that rotation. Do they focus on the the front half of that rotation? I don’t know. The the Astros rotation is interesting, but Mike Burroughs is is a piece that I I like I like the upside there. I I really do. Um, his grades grades on all his pitches are are very they’re all plus even though his overall is not a plus, which is weird. You’ve got a Let’s see the Pirates. Let’s see if they’ve updated that because I want to see I just want to see it. Wow, we are all This is a complete reboot of that Pirates lineup. Now, we just looked at this. Anybody that was with me 10 minutes ago, this is a complete reboot of the Pirates. We have Mangum leading off followed by Brandon Laauo then Reynolds then Harowitz Gonzalez O’Neal Cruz drops Triolo Sinsky and Bart Nixon to the bench. I didn’t even notice that happened. Anyway, um so okay, what do we think about this? I don’t know if I like the idea of Spencer Horowitz batting fourth. I want Spencer Horowitz batting in front of Brandon Laauo and Brian Reynolds. So give me Horowitz two, leave Reynolds at three, give me Lao four. If this is what we’re thinking about here, Pirates are looking kind of lefty heavy. They are. But look, Sinsky, he’s out against lefties. Uh and Garcia is in. Um who else do we have here that might be out against a lefty? Uh Lao wouldn’t. Horowitz shouldn’t wouldn’t. Cruz wouldn’t. It would really be here. You take Sinsky out and then you have three lefties in the lineup against a left-handed starter. You take Sinsky out and you go with Garcia. You go with you know who else? Who else is there in play here? I guess that’s it. Oh, Connor Griffin. Don’t forget Conor Griffin. there’s a chance that he I don’t know if he’s going to break camp with the Pirates or at some point he plays a role with this team and he could be in here too. So, that’s something to keep in mind as well. Now, the position he would be taking is of a guy who’s a right-handed bat, but really we get we just get back to that spot, that DH spot, Sinsky, that’s where you make the move. That’s where you make the change. So, the problem would be any if there’s any bats out there that were left-handed bats, I I think we cross them off because then they would be far too heavy on the left side. Uh, it’s a good point, Cuddy. No, it’s a good point. Um, I’m surprised. Well, uh, let’s see the other side of the trade. What does this What do the Rays look like now? Oh man, what do they look like? Chandler Simpson, Yandandy Diaz, Jonathan Ron, you know, don’t laugh, but the Rays are still going to f around and win a lot of games this year. Isn’t it amazing? We’re trading Brandon Laauo. We’re trading Shane Bos, but I look at this team and I’m like, you know what? They still worry me as a Blue Jays fan. I look at this race team and I’m like, still don’t like it. Uh, they’re still going to give us hell when we’re in the trop, which we will be back at this year. Damn it. Um, nature did its best to try to wipe that thing off the face of the planet because it was a house of horrors to all the teams that go in there. But >> Castle to Pittsburgh from Ladinski. >> Mount Castle. No, I don’t think so. I don’t think Mount Castle has Mount Castle is on the verge of of being DFA. I I don’t know. I Mount Castle’s value is so low right now. And when you think about how much he’s going to make in his final year of arbitration, it’s I don’t think anybody wants to take Ryan Mount Castle on. The Orioles, if they knew how this offseason was going to go, Ward, Alonszo, they would have non-tendered Ryan Mount Castle back at that tender deadline for the arbitration players. So, Rasperson, Pepio, Mlanahan, Mats is gonna be sneaky good. You got Boille in there. This team’s gonna This team’s gonna do it. This team’s gonna This team’s gonna compete. Uh, Yanni Diaz could still get traded. But even if he’s traded, Chandler Simpson, Jonathan Rana, Junior Kimro, I know J I wait for Josh Low to have the season. I think he could have. If Carson Williams takes a step, Rays fans are telling me, I mean, at least some Rays fans are telling me that Carson Williams isn’t ready yet. And he might not be, but if he gets ready, if if he takes a step, that’s interest that that could be very interesting. But look at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to can the Rays pitch and with Rasmusson, Pepio, Mlanahan again, Matt’s sneaky good. This is this this is a Rays team I think that will pitch and they have they have some juice with the bats. Now, if you trade Yandandy Diaz away, then I don’t know. But again, we’re kind of we’re kind of um I think approaching that mile marker as well when it comes to Yandandy Diaz and the trade likelihood uh there as well. Any word on the Japanese transfers? Windows are run out. Yeah, Murakami has until Monday. So, I think there’s a good chance this weekend we get that news. The others had a little bit more time. I think I is going to go as long as he can. I I I wonder I would bet that there are teams that want to get Amay. I think he’s gonna he’s going to cost less than Frammer Valdez and some of those others. There may be those players may have to wait until he off the board because teams may be trying to get him instead of overpaying for somebody like Valdez or Suarez. Do I think the Astro sign gallon would shock MLB? Um will I don’t know if it would shock MLB because I could see I could see why and most others should see why the Astros are going to try to win the World Series next year. And if they’re going to try to win the World Series next year, they need to put together an elite pitching staff. And there’s a lot of question marks in that pitching staff. That’s not how you start the year. If you want to win the World Series, I think you need to have some certainty. You need to have you you need to have some known commodities. I know what I’m going to get from fill in the blank. And the Astros have some question marks after Hunter Brown. All right. Uh, let’s see. The kids are getting home from school, so I am going to hop out of here, but there is I don’t know. I’m getting I’m getting a sense in the air that it is going to be an active an potentially an active Friday and an an active weekend. So, don’t go far. Make sure you turn your notifications on and stay close to the channel because we could very likely be back tonight with more moves because with the signings and the trades as things happen, I feel like it just kind of chips away at the ice a little bit and starts to loosen things up, free things up to get done because now teams that had something on the board that’s off the board, they got to pivot to their next their next target before it gets too late on him. So, I I think all of this movement is good and is going to lead to more movement. So stay close because we could be back here breaking it down and reacting to it. Uh that’s it. I am out of here. Make sure to smash that like, guys, if you have not yet. Uh I hope you’re having a great Friday afternoon. This has been a a fun popup live stream and I’m glad that we’re getting some moves. Last night’s King signing. We have a handful of trades today. Let’s keep it moving. Let’s keep it moving. Memo to all of the front offices. Keep it moving. All right, guys. Uh, go enjoy the rest of your Friday. I hope to see you again later because that would mean more moves. But if not, stay close cuz it will be soon. I’m out of here. Ballcap nation, I salute you. Thank you for coming in and spending your time here with the channel. To my 100 club, thank you for making it to the end of another video, another live stream, helping grow the video, helping grow the live stream with that time spent watching. Thank you for that. I really do appreciate it. But that’s it for me. Make sure to smash that like on the way out. And remember, if it’s low, let it go. And if it’s high, let it fly.

  1. Wow, such a reaction….take a breath. As an Os fan, here’s what I see: Of the players we traded, de Brun may not arrive until ‘29. Bodine is a catcher … a good one… but we’re set now with our commitment to Basallo and availability of Rutschman, and Overn was #30 in our minor league system. SO, in my mind’s eye we traded Ferret – a very good pitching prospect (still in AA… AAA in ‘26) – and a competitive draft pick next summer…neither of which will affect the team in ‘26. AND, regarding Grayson Rodriguez, yes, I hated to see him go, but with his injury history and his obvious “behind the scenes” clashes with the front office, he’s probably better off in CA… He wasn’t going to workout here. We’re better off with one year of Taylor Ward and hopefully we’ll entice him to stay longer. Now, with Shane Baz, we get – albeit only one year – a respectable #3 or #4 starter for now and maybe in the next three years he’ll grow to be even better… a gamble worth taking. But, the elephant in the room is what we do from here, because we can’t be done. We’re still working to acquire a proven #1 or #2…which I know we’ll accomplish… GO Os!

  2. O's are not done. Still have Mayo. Mountcastle, and now Povich to package. Baz injury was TJ surgery, Grayson had serious Shoulder and Lat, and elbow too. I was asked about Grayson mid last year and said IF he comes back expect 10-12 starts and he is done.

  3. The only one that I cringed here on was Forret. DeBrun and Bodine was blocked at the major league and minor league system. Overn is solid but three years away. Need Baz to stay healthy

  4. Orioles fan here.

LOVE this trade for us. Baz was very good when he wasn't pitching at the Rays' temporary minor league park home in 2025 (3.86 road ERA vs 5.90 at the minor league park) and has an average FB velo of 97 mph. He still has 3 years of cheap control (so money for a SP signing is still there). He's been healthy for the last year and a half after his TJS rehab while Grayson hasn't even pitched in a year and a half. We only gave up 1 guy in our top ten prospects and still have Coby Mayo to trade for Edward Cabrera, Sandy Alcantara, Freddy Peralta, or whoever.

    A+ easy.

  5. Mike Burrows career high was last year at 96 innings, at 26. Astros system is very meager but the prospect output for a one pitch starter? I do like this trade though I guess because what is the outside opinion on the Astros window? Closing, not closed.

  6. Nick Gonzalez might be a good buy low candidate. Lots of people were really high on him before last season, because likely Termar Johnson would be in the mix for 2027 at 2nd base.

  7. Baz's stuff looks a bit better than Grayson's. For the "win now" mindset of Orioles, the trade makes sense, but only if Baz can give them more starts, What worries me is that a year ago the O's signed the oft-injured O'Neill, hoping that he could finally get into more games, and that plan went bust, and that this could be the pitching equivalent of that. But there's no question that if Baz can stay healthy and the Orioles' pitching gurus can unlock his talent, he has the potential to be a front end starter.

That said, I don't think the team is done, either in trades or free agent signings. From the front office's viewpoint, I'm pretty sure that they're looking for an ace for the rotation, a decent reliever and another bat. It's clear based on what Elias and Rubinstein said at the Alonso presser and elsewhere, that we should expect another major signing.

  8. Seems like the O's are hitting the panic button as if they're window to compete is closing so they're throwing a Hail Mary to win now. But it seems like they've improved mostly because of the Alonso signing. These trades seem like a huge price to pay for a marginally better short term improvement.

  9. You said they're significant but they aren't. Slay has so many OF in front of him in the Org. Bodine has Adley and Sam in front of him. Forret hurts but pitching costs pitching. Plus Baz helps the goal. Win in '26 '27. Who they traded won't debut until '29 or later so no help to win now.

  10. Who said this was gonna be the Orioles number 1. They are still gonna sign a pitcher according to Elias. There is no comparison to Rodriguez. Since August of 24 Baz has made 40+ starts Rodriguez 0.

  11. Shane Baz has been healthy for a year and a half while Grayson hasn't pitched in a year and a half. Also Baz pitched in a Mickey mouse minor league stadium for his home games last year and those starts are what skewed his numbers in a bad direction. In his 29 starts since returning from injury not pitching in that minor league stadium Baz has an ERA under 3.50 and WHIP just over 1.10. We gave up a lot to get him and it was probably too much to give up but Baz is a guy with a whole bunch of upside and trusting him to stay healthy when he has been healthy for a year and a half is WAY more reliable than relying for a guy that hasn't pitched in a year and a half and was injured all the time in the minors to stay healthy.

  12. The prospects the O's gave up are really not jump off the page guys. The only really intriguing guy is Forret, To me that's worth taking a shot at landing a top of the rotation starter.

  13. I don't mind the deal at all as an Os fan. Bodine was expendable because of Basillo I wish they could have held onto Slater D but prospects are suspects until otherwise proven. Definitely the Os rotation is stronger today than they were yesterday.

  14. I watched the 2025 highlights on Shane Baz he looks great considering he recently had TJ surgery. And pitched all year
He has wicked stuff. You guys really act like what you say is gonna happen. Watch Shane Baz will be great.

  15. Most of those trades from the Os is they were years away from being major league ready. Baz probably makes Povich a trade bait for another starter. Povich is major league ready. He just needs to be in the right situation. I don't think he's worked out yet for the Os. They traded Greyson because he can't stay healthy and they probably had information from his doctors that gave the front office concerns for the future. Greyson is injury prone.

  16. I’m A Braves fan so not affected to much by any of todays trades btu it’s crazy Pirates finally got a hitter in Lowe , Burrows is a great fit in Houston , and Shane Baz is a really interesting add for the Orioles.

  17. I am not saying anything on the movement of Rodregez or Baz in general, Baltimore may have felt that Grayson needed a new environment or that they feel that they can do something good with Baz. but yes, I do feel that the O's did pay too much for Baz.

  18. Gunnar is going to sign extension you got remember not same orioles no more we have the fifth richest owner in baseball by himself that doesn't include the owner group orioles are here to play

  19. Mixed feelings as an Orioles fan. I would not have pulled the trigger if I was the GM, but I have a lot of faith in the front office and coaching staff right now seeing what they did with Trevor Rogers. Also, Grayson's injuries seems to be very linger-y where Shane Baz got a new UCL and got his stuff back, so I don't think the comparison is great even though there are close parallels

  20. I saw some reports that every team asked for one of Basallo or Holliday. What you’re not mentioning is how Grayson caused locker room issues and how Baz was pretty good on the road. Baz’s stats were just inflated due to playing in a minor league park.

Gunnar is definitely resigning. They’ve already held contract talks and just decided to wait because of how bad the team was last season. Also, how is Beavers blocked when he’s clearly the starting RF with how injury prone Tyler O’Neil is?

  21. I’ll take Baz over Rodriguez over the next few years, simply because he’s already had Tommy John. It was a high price, but it fills a big need, and the O’s are going for it

  22. lol dude has heard of exactly zero of these names before this vid. Os fans have been flexing their farm for years and nobody would listen. but now you know the reload? ok

  23. Orioles is the most dumb organization in MLB, half year ago they traded away half the team and now they think they can compete with the top teams???
Alonso will be a waste to play there! They will not make the post season in 5 years!
