Our current draft capital for the next 2 drafts after the Marchment trade
December 20, 2025
We are slowly starting to really amass a lot of draft capital in the next 2 drafts. Interesting to see if we’ll hold onto them or trade them in the upcoming offseason.

I honestly haven’t seen much on what the prospect pools look like for the next few drafts…. At least, I haven’t seen that many huge names?
Did I miss a trade?
Ehh, we really only have the 2 Tampa 1sts in terms of high value extra picks. Picks after the 3rd round are very unlikely to net you an NHL player though it does happen of course.
Tampa has been kinda middling this season but I suspect they put it together and make the playoffs. So that pick is probably gonna be in the 16-20s range (aka around where we picked Sale). Certainly valuable, but unlikely to net a player that solves the Kraken’s fundamental needs.
We need to see if the Kraken are willing to move bigger names if they want to bring in additional 1sts.
What does Top 10 protected mean?
The thing is I do think Botterill picked the right time to cut his losses. Lamberts defense first system doesnt do a great job of showcasing talent even when it’s going well. But during losing streak it’s even worse. So trade deadline was prolly gonna get worse offers or not much better
I’m a Flyers fan first (so I know eternal pain, not Leafs but still) but a hard Kraken fan since I’ve now lived in Seattle for 13 years and got those szn tix, and this hypes me up given GMRFs fails. When the young guys excel or the future looks bright, it’s so nice to see. More draft capital gets me going til we have breakout stars.
Kraken will be the mythical beast in a few years and we will drag the pacific into the deep.
