One of the more insightful interviews I have heard from a player. He sounds like he could be a coach. Get ‘em going Mac!

  1. McDonagh is the most underrated player in the league. He’s the best defensive D man in the league and never gets talked about. I would take a bullet for him.

I make sure to celebrate Ryan McDonagh day in Tampa every December 8th by wearing a 27 jersey.

  2. I don’t really pretend to know the inner workings of our team, or any NHL team, but I do know that sometimes captaincy is given out to who “has earned it” more than who deserves it.

I don’t know if that’s the case for Hedman, and I won’t say Hedman doesn’t deserve it either.

What I will say is that I think this speaks volumes to how Coop has repeatedly said that the lightning have a room full of leaders. Maybe not many guys that could motivate you to run through a brick wall, but consummate professionals like Mac Truck who can get your head on straight and get you focused for the next game.

Then you look at on ice leadership and you see guys like Hagel taking punishment again and again and standing up for the team, Yanni Gourde giving 101% every single shift and earning every second he plays, Kucherov being the first one back to training every year and his obvious drive for perfection.
