  1. Dude has a fun and impressive backstory, I think he just got rushed through his development. Wish him well wherever he ends up (which might just be back in AAA)

  2. Meckler was rushed way too fast. Have no idea if he would have panned out in a few more years as he’s had a lot of nagging injuries. Meckler was drafted in ’22 and immediately lost an option year in ’23. He destroyed AA AAA ball in ’23, but his ABs were so limited at 285 PA. Every year has been worse since ’23 in AAA. Went from a .965 OPS in ’23 to .866 OPS in ’24 to .760 OPS in ’25. At least he was consistent. Lost 100 points in OPS every year, ugh.

  3. When Pavs says there’s a lot of turnover in positions we don’t hear about, I think he’s talking about the people who thought Meckler was ready back in ‘23. He had an impossible amount of swing and miss for a slap hitter.

  4. Maybe I’m a fool, but he always seemed like his profile was really well-suited for 2B. Smaller guy, moves well, good bat to ball skills. Obviously the defense is the issue, but OF clearly wasnt the place for him and maybe this is my ignorance shining through, but I feel like him learning 2B isnt out of the realm of possibility?

I admit I know nothing about how learning new positions works at the high levels, so maybe I’m just pontificating here.
