I cannot BELIEVE this…
I cannot believe this as the San Jose Sharks have a recordbreaking comeback, but it comes at a high price with Will Smith going down with injury. In this video, we’re going to break down the injury update on Will Smith and talk about this insane come from behind win for the San Jose Sharks. But before we dive into that, just want to stay on the road for 2,000 subscribers here on the channel. So, you want to stay up to date on the latest news around your San Jose Sharks, make sure down below and hit that subscribe button. We got a lot to talk about today because the Sharks put on a crazy performance against the Pittsburgh Penguins, defying the odds, coming back down four in the third period with about 11 minutes to go and winning the game. And as you see here from this um graphic, this is the 21st time in NHL history that a team has overcome a four plus goal deficit in the third period and won. The 11th time a team’s done it on the road. And it’s the first time in franchise history that the San Jose Sharks have came back from this big of a def deficit in the third period, which just speaks volumes of how good this young team has been playing so far this season. And I think this is a boost that the San Jose Sharks needed going forward uh to try to keep their wild card hopes alive going into the season. a win like this uh uh for everybody on the bench to just dig in like they did and go out and win that game. H it just is going to speak volumes on how well this team’s going to play down the stretch this year and you know how clutch this team can be now and it shows that they’re never out of a game and you should never turn that TV off when the Sharks are down late in the third period. But uh with that said, we’re going to look at some of the high performers from that game. Like I said, six to five overtime win for the San Jose Sharks in that game. Mwin Celibbrini. Obviously, this guy uh continues to perform and continues to to shine and it just seems like there’s no slowing down from him and he’s getting better uh with every game he plays in each experience that he does game I believe having a goal and two assists in that win in the last game. And look at Wenberg there going up the second forward in game score with 2.75. And you just see throughout this whole list big chipins from the offense, but an even bigger chip in from John Clingberg. And I know a lot of San Jose Sharks fans didn’t have a lot of faith in Clingberg. And he’s kind of having a really big career resurgence since coming to San Jose. Obviously, when he played with the Toronto Maple Leafs last, you know, that lingering hip uh issue was still there for him, but it now seems like where he’s getting more minutes and working, you know, back behind the scenes to fully recover his injury and just deal with, you know, managing it at this point because it isn’t going to get any better. but he has just proven to be the the power play quarterback, the offensive quarterback that this team did need from the blue line. So, it’s just great to see that. And I think, you know, you know, there’s games where, yes, maybe he does, you know, lapse defensively, but he’s always contributing offensively and that’s what you’re getting out of a guy like John Clingber. So, I don’t think there should be very much criticism on him. I think he’s helping the team as best as he can. But, we want to talk about Mlin Celabbrini here and how good he’s playing. I mean, look at his stats so far this season. 47 points for the kids so far this year. Uh, averaging 20 minutes of ice time, 16 goals, 31 assists. And you see here from hockey staff cards that his offensive rating is in the plus 7.6 percentile, which is just absolutely disgusting. He’s in the highest pro one of the highest tiers so far of this season with him and Nathan McKinnon still battling it out to try to for the point total in this league this year. It’s just crazy. And you see him in the net percentile rating at 6.9, which you know is some of the best among the NHL. This kid’s only 19 years old. There’s so much room to grow for Mlin Celibbrin. And he just keeps going out and shocking us night after night after night. It’s like, when’s this guy going to slow down? Doesn’t seem like he’s going to slow down anytime soon. But there has been some somber news that happened in that game. If you missed it, Will Smith did get hit from behind. not looking good. He was lumbered uh hump humped over in pain going off the bench. Uh just was not a good look for Will Smith. And obviously this is a kid who’s been playing so good for this team this year. And uh from a doctor here on Twitter, this is what he said after the injury. He said it’s likely a separated shoulder from what he could tell. He said the mechism the mechanism can also cause broken collar bones, but he doesn’t think it was enough force to cause that. but he’s likely right now on a week-toeek type timeline. So, I mean, it’s not the worst news. I mean, it could be a longer term injury. So, maybe he just needs to work on it behind the scenes with the doctors, with the physiootherapy staff to get himself back in action. Week to week is definitely better than monthtomonth. I mean, it isn’t what you want to hear. You want him to be healthy, but unfortunately, a play like that develops and it takes a guy out. And this is a guy who’s been having a great season so far. 29 points in 33 games. Obviously, the Smith the sleepover line. I mean, it’s kind of broken up right now, but Smith and Celibbrini have been this have this crazy connection that’s just kind of like twins. You know, this guy these guys can just find each other on the ice. And, you know, it sucks that that we’re going to miss that for, you know, a few weeks here now. Uh, that’s early injury, the early injury update right now. There hasn’t been a full one announced as of yet, but we will keep you guys up to date on that. But something good that did come out of this injury is we seen Mlin Celabbrini pick up for his boy here and go after go after him and throw a few right hands. You’re not expecting that out of the youngster. But it just shows how how good this guy is and just shows how much he values his teammates and stepping up for, you know, his best friend here in in Will Smith by going out dropping the gloves, throwing a few punches at this guy, saying you can’t do that, you know, and it just shows how good captain quality that Min Cullin is. And he’s only showing this at 19 years old. I do believe this guy is going to be the future captain of the San Jose Sharks for years to come. But this is what he actually had to say about Smith getting injured. He said, “I don’t think any of us like to see one of our teammates go down and take a hit like that.” Ekki did a good job jumping in right away. And he said he’s he he just felt like he had to have his back. And I think when you have this mentality in a locker room, when your players are ready to go out and and ride or die with each other, it it just shows how tight of a bond this locker room has. And you know, you never want to see a player go down with injury. And it’s good that someone stepped up here like uh like Ekkund did. and like celebrity did for Will Smith and we hope he has a safe recovery and hope he’s back with the team uh very soon. This is what Clingberg said about uh this the come from behind victory. He said maybe it’s uh starts with uh Smith going down your one your best players going in sticking up for him and obviously creates a spark and they got that five on three goal which sparked the offense and then it just rolls on from there and that’s a veteran guy there saying you know you know your player goes down you see you know your young star with 47 points risk it all going in and throwing a few punches that obviously sparks your team and gets the offense going and that’s how they won this game. So, it’s great to see that, you know, they have each other’s back and they’re ready to to step up whenever that happens. And Randy Han here, the voice of the Sharks, saying the vibe on the airplane right now is it’s been missing for years and it’s unbelievable. He said, “See you Tuesday.” Which, like I said, the guys are having fun. This team wasn’t expected to go out and be in the position they are of this season, but this is where they’re at. And, you know, they’re taking every advantage of that. They’re loving it. their growing chemistry within the locker room. And whenever your team’s happy and the vibes are high, the play on the ice is going to be high. So, it sucks that we see Will Smith go down with this injury and we hope that he does come back very soon because this guy is obviously a key part of this offense and we want him to be back healthy very soon. But what do you guys think about CR stepping up? When do you think he’s going to get the C on his chest? Love to hear you guys thoughts down below. I was one messed up play away from shutting off my tv and call it a night but something was telling me that I must be there in the worse times and best times and it definitely payed off I was running around the house screaming my lungs out!
Chernyshov and Cardwell have been called up as Kurashev and Smith go on IR. Out for a minimum of 3 games as they must be out a minimum of one week. Interesting to see where they fit in the lineup, if both play against Calgary tomorrow.
My guess is Cardwell on the fourth line and Chernyshov on the third line (if they both play).
I just love the team attitude of skating hard all the time. Celebrini is a superstar. I hope he plays every game in his NHL career in a Sharks uniform.
