Also thanks to those in the game day thread that helped me identify the players. I am a caps fan, and we sat right below the press box with the healthy scratches right behind us. The only one I recognized was Tanev because he looks somewhat unique, but only well into the first period. I made friends with an older transplant leafs fan who was sitting right behind us who was with her husband who was new to watching hockey. Once I recognized Tanev, I told her. She was able to get his attention and he and the others agreed to sign her jersey if she had a sharpie. The whole section was trying to help her locate one, until someone got one from a journalist further down in the press box. Then, they all signed her jersey, and made her night.

Also, I vaguely remember in an interview that Tanev said he’s taking finance classes. I am an economics major in my last year of college so I asked him about it and he gave me a thumbs up and we shared a laugh. This is definitely my favorite memory at a hockey game. Thanks Toronto.

  1. That’s awesome, glad things worked out and someone found a sharpie and the players were willing to sign. Ive never been lucky enough to sit below that box. I got a Ben Scrivens autograph once when I went to a Marlies game vs Hamilton and he was the backup goalie that night. We were sitting behind the bench at the time.
