Red Sox *NEWS* You May Have Missed!! Sox SIGNING, and Sox HIRINGS

Did you catch this Red Sox news? What is going on everybody? Welcome back to Red Sea Radio. My name is Corbin and thank you very much for clicking on this video. It’s been kind of a weird week for Red Sox nation, right? It feels like we kind of have whiplash between the Bregman, Catel Marte, the Bo Bashette stuff. And that’s sort of been the focus of the off season, at least in the last week, which means that other Red Sox news is slipping through the cracks, which is why in today’s video, we’re going over all the latest Red Sox news that you may have missed. Starting with some previous Red Sox names that have now signed with other teams. Now, this isn’t really anything incredibly important, just something to keep you guys updated on. Abraham Toro recently signed a deal with the Kansas City Royals. I’ll always be grateful for Toro for kind of keeping the Red Sox afloat for like two months there and then just sort of disappearing into the night, right? But he was a pretty big part of the 2025 Red Sox. And then Jorge Alcala, I don’t even know if you guys remember that name. He is staying in the division and signing a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. I still think there might be something there with Jorge Alcala. That could just be me being a little bit crazy, but interesting to see whether or not these guys end up making their rosters and whether or not these guys end up actually producing for a major league team over there. Okay, now on to actual Red Sox news here. I’m sorry I even included that. I might cut that out later. But regardless, earlier this week, the Red Sox did make a signing. No, it is still not a major league signing. and they’re still one of only two teams who have not signed a major league player just yet. But it is a minor league deal for left-handed reliever Alex Gamboa. It was a little bit of a weird season for Gamboa. He started the year in the Dodger system in Triple A. But after about 20 innings at in the Dodgers system here, he decided, you know what, I’m good with professional MLB baseball. I’m going to go over to Korea and see what I can do. And that’s exactly what he did. And he ended up being a pretty solid starter for the KBO league over there. It was a 358 RA. And honestly, when I say pretty solid starter, I mean mostly because of his ERA because the whip was a 1.352 due to a 8.1 hits per nine, which is almost one hit per inning here and a 4.1 walks per nine. So, a lot of traffic in the KBO last year, but he was missing a pretty decent amount of bats. It was a 9.8 strikeouts per nine inning, which is over a strikeout for every inning that he pitched over there. And as a starter, that’s a pretty darn good number, right? The hope is that as a reliever it’s a little bit higher than that. You can air out your stuff a bit more. And speaking of his stuff, one thing that’s really intriguing to me about Alec Gamboa is his pitch arsenal. According to Brandon Campbell of the blogging the socks, his pitch right now is pretty explosive. It’s five different pitches here. It’s a mid90s fast ball. It is a slider, a sinker, a curveball, and a change up. I know this is just a minor league deal and everything, but this is absolutely a dude you should be paying attention to coming into spring training, mostly for the sole purpose of the fact that right now the Red Sox, they don’t have a ton of veteran left-handed options in that bullpen, right? Obviously, you’ve got a Rollis Chapman and he’s sort of the highlight of your bullpen right now considering what he did last season and he’s a lefty, but he’s your closer, right? You’re only going to use him in very specific situations. Outside of that, you don’t really have any true like veteran left-handed options here for that sort of mid to lowle leverage situation. Right? Right now, according to Andrew Parker, our friend here on this channel, Kyle Harrison is being viewed as more of a long reliever than he is a starter. So, there’s another guy you can add to the bullpen, but then you traded away Chris Murphy. You traded away Brandon Bernardino, Steven Match signed with the Rays, and Justin Wilson is still a free agent here. Regardless of what this guy looked like, the Red Sox clearly signed him with a potential intent of putting him on the opening day roster. Even if he doesn’t make the major league roster, I still think this is a pretty interesting signing because he’s going to end up being probably pretty high up on the Red Sox depth chart just simply because of that left-handed signing. So, I know every time we talk about minor league deals, especially now with everything going on with the Red Sox and not spending money on free agency, I always get the, “Oh, it’s it’s a it’s a dumpster dive, right? Craig’s digging through the trash again.” And I don’t really think that’s this kind of signing, right? I don’t think Craig or John Henry or whoever is trying to save money by by signing this lefty. I think they’re just genuinely like, “Hey man, we don’t have any lefties left in the organization that could end up in this bullpen. We got to get somebody in here.” So, at the bare minimum, if someone gets hurt, we’ve got someone to cover this guy, right? How many injuries do we see out of the bullpen last year? There were a ton of injuries, right? And even if there wasn’t injuries, there’s going to be guys who have poor performances. Bullpens are incredibly volatile. So, yeah, this is a guy who, yes, it’s a minor league deal. Yes, it’s a guy who was not playing professional American baseball last year, but is a guy that I think could potentially end up on your 26-man roster either opening day or at some point throughout the season. So, I thought it was noteworthy enough for to talk about in this video. The sort of noteworthy changes for the Boston Red Sox actually have nothing to do with the actual roster itself and everything to do with the actual front office going on here. Because if you haven’t noticed, recently the Red Sox have lost kind of a lot of talent over this off seasonason, right? You had Justin Willard going to the New York Mets. He was your pitching director. You had potential GM, right? The Red Sox wanted to offer Paul Tobani the GM spot for this team. He ended up taking over the Nationals this offseason and taking quite a few Red Sox play personnel with him. So, the Red Sox are now trying to I don’t know if they’re really scrambling, but they’re trying to replace that talent within the front office. And they have started to do that this week. In fact, according to an article by Chris Catillo, which we’re going to link in the description of this video here, they did recently promote Ben Buck to be the director of pitching for the Boston Red Sox. Now, Ben was previously the pitching coordinator in the organization. Honestly, what the difference is between the director of pitching and the pitching coordinator, I have absolutely no idea. But one fun fact about Buck is that the Red Sox did poach him from the Yankees organization to come over here in January. And whenever the Socks can bring someone in here that that makes the Yankees a little bit worse and the Red Sox a little bit better, I’m all for it. Honestly, doesn’t sound like he’s going to change things too much in terms of the way the Red Sox are approaching pitching, right? It feels like, you know, you’re making this internal promotion to make sure that things stay the status quo. I would imagine him and Justin Willard worked pretty closely in tandem with each other throughout the 2025 season. Again, like the separation between coordinator of pitching and director of pitching have got to got to be like a a job title, right? Pretty much the same thing, just two guys doing it at different pay rates. I don’t really know, but now Ben Buck is director of pitching. As for the other names joining the Red Sox organization here, Brezo also poached a former colleague from the Cubs in former Cubs director of pitching Ryan Otero. Now, here he is going to be the special assistant to chief baseball officer, i.e. E Craig Brezlo. I I I swear to God I’m not making these titles up. They’re actual titles within the Red Sox organization here. I have absolutely no idea what that role includes, right? What are his day-to-day responsibilities? I’d imagine just simply being sort of another voice for Craig Brezlo to lean on when it comes to overall pitching decisions within this organization, right? It’s somebody he can trust and somebody he’s worked with. It’s somebody whose opinion he respects, which is always good, right? Craig Brezo doing everything by himself. never a good thing, right? Even even in a baseball setting, you need to have other voices of reason surrounding you. And I think that’s exactly what Ryan Otero was brought in to do. Then you hired Quinn Clearly from the Mariners and he is now the assistant director of pitching and head pitching strategist. I I mean, my god, how many different titles can you have surrounding the pitching of an organization? This is crazy to me. But anyways, he was from the Mariners, which again, you talk about, okay, what does this mean for the Red Sox organization? I don’t think it’s going to mean too much, right? It’s not like they’re going to overhaul their pitching infrastructure based on the hiring of these two guys, but I do like the fact that he’s coming over from the Mariners. The Mariners have one of the best pitching labs in the entire sport. I mean, just take a look at their rotation. Take a look at their pipeline. They’re very, very good at developing and creating homegrown superstars on the mount here. So, anytime you can get any of those minds into your organization, I think is a positive for the Boston Red Sox. Ultimately, what I think this is kind of indicating, at least in my opinion, in terms of Craig Brezlo’s hirings here, is that he wants these guys who are like-minded, right, who who sort of approach pitching the same way he does. And honestly, I don’t think that’s an incredibly bad thing. Like, the one thing Craig Brezlo has done incredibly well for this Red Sox team is really overhaul the Red Sox pitching organizationally. Not only do you have like some of the best pitching prospects the Red Sox have had in years, maybe really ever, in this organization here, but your major league team took a real step forward here. Your pitching rotation outside of like the, you know, the number five spot in this rotation in, you know, some of the names I will not mention in this video was really, really solid. You saw Beo take significant steps forward. Gelo looked like he did back in 2021 for the first time in four years. Your bullpen was the second best bullpen in baseball wise. is the best in the ALA erra wise. I mean, there’s a lot of positives right now to go with the Red Sox and and their conversations surrounding pitching. So, I this is the one thing I trust Craig Brezlo’s mind in, right? I you know, whether it’s hiring guys, whether it’s making changes to the approach of pitching, whether it’s making changes to the major league roster in terms of pitching, I trust Craig Brezlo’s sort of mentality when it comes to that. And speaking of Craig Brezo, the last kind of interesting thing I wanted to put into this video, and I don’t really know if it’s news all that much, but Section 10 had Chris Catillo and Shawn McAdam on a podcast last night. If you haven’t listened to it yet, I highly recommend that you do. It was a fantastic conversation between uh Steve, Jared, Chris, and Shawn McAdam here. But one thing that that that the two B reporters mentioned is that Craig Brezlo, you know, when we talk about this persona that he puts on for the public where it almost sounds like he’s talking above you, right, with bigger words, with sort of hyperboles and analogies that never really get to the point. That’s not so much a persona. That’s just simply who Craig Brezlo is. It’s who he’s been his entire career. And what it’s doing, and according to these two guys, is it’s making it a little bit difficult to figure out how to trade with him because this is how he’s communicating to other GMs and front office CBOS and whatever throughout Major League Baseball. And this is a little bit concerning to me, right? Having that brought up on this podcast made me go, huh, that’s a little bit interesting. Now, to be fair to Craig Brelo, he has been able to make deals since his time in being here, right? I mean, Narvay, Crochet, I think those are the two biggest ones, but you also got Tyler O’Neal, who was an impact player for you. You had you got Sunny Gray this off seasonason, Johan Oviero. He’s not afraid to make deals. It’s just interesting that they’re having this conversation. Now, in my opinion, for right now, this isn’t really something to, you know, debate over or or make a full video about just yet. If the Red Sox end up, you know, kind of coming out of this off season in a bad place like they are in right now, I think this will become a much bigger headline. I think this will be a much bigger conversation that we’ll end up having. But for right now, it’s just sort of something to to hold on to, right, to to keep in the back of your head and and sort of think about as, you know, the moves start to develop throughout the rest of the offseason for this Red Sox team. But until then, and until we do have the potential to make this a bigger video, let me know in the comments section down below. What do you guys think of all this? 1. When in H E L are Redsox fans going to WAKE-UP
and see the truth, Brez and his owners are real
    Gaslighters and Lairs….. 2 big bats "0" number 2
    starters '0" EOS

  2. This isn't dumpster diving for depth, dumpster diving is when you do this for a starter.

Also, Breslow… Now do something about the OFFENSE! I thank you so much for fixing our pitching but now balance it out.

  3. I almost missed this signing but heard about it this morning. He has chance to be the left handed reliever they need. As always we'll see. Toro was a big help in 2025 hopefully he is successful in KC.

  4. Yeah lets sign a guy who was mediocre is the KBO cause we need a lefty, while Justin Wilson who was as solid as can be last year is available………….oh wait thats right I forgot………….that would cost money, silly me.

  5. What news? The Sox and Rockies are the only teams to NOT make a major league free agent signing. The Sox have done squat. Tick-tock Breslow get busy Dec is about over.

  6. My comment is actually about yesterday’ video. I would not trade Duran to the Mets for either of the packages mentioned. Vientos is lacking defensively at third… maybe he would be better at first. The bat is also lacking. A lot of swing and miss.

  7. If i were alex B, unless I absolutely loved red sox organization, I might look else where. They have just enough to get to the first round. They need a big bat and a big pitcher and neither is going to happen

  8. I played against gamboa during Juco right before getting draftedby the dodgers. Dude had solid strikeout stuff and and a decent fastball. Could be a solid bullpen option, I just dont see him beating out tolle or early for the botton of the rotation

  9. I'd like to see the Red Sox trade Cedanne Rafaela and move Jarren Duran to his natural position in centerfield. With Roman Anthony in front of the Green Monster and Wilyer Abreu in right, the Red Sox would have the best outfield in MLB.
