102.1 when it’s carried by goaltending isn’t that unusual. Their shooting % last year was exactly in line with previous years if not a bit low, they just had excellent goaltending. They went from that to having out of nowhere horrendous goaltending, which matches the eye test.
the reality is, after that year you guys stacked the team at the deadline with orielly and crew, and couldnt make a deep push, a retool was needed. and now pushing it this far you have both stripped a promising prospect pool and now have a mediocre team and bad draft capital.
I dont know what the answer is or the solution- losing marner for basically nothing and replacing him with bottom 6 scrubs and thinking you guys would be better than last year is grounds for immediate firing if treliving.
And the fact the org thought brad treliving who ran the flames into the ground was a good gm candidate… no words.
Imagine Woll was ready for the starter’s role back when Dubas was GM and Keefe was the coach…. Berube’s failures have been masked by one of the best goalie tandems in the league last season.
Watching the games this year has been infuriating with how little chances they get, I can only imagine what it’s like for the players. A lot of people online are banging the “don’t give them another coach drum” but just imagine how fun it would be to watch a team that actually trys to play offence once in a while.
Our PDO being very high is also quite funny. If we didn’t have that streak of getting first shot goals I think they might be in last place in the whole league.
But a coaching change won’t fix anything right?
Across the board basically better during Dubas’ years despite the cap not increasing his last 4 seasons as much as it has over one offseason for Treliving.
We hire Berube and the offense immediately drops from top half of the league to bottom of the league
Those 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 teams were very good and entertaining, I don’t care what anyone has to say about the playoffs. I’d sign up to watch that all over again.
Firing Keefe’s not the issue, firing Keefe three years too late is the issue.
Stats only mean so much to start with.
Goal share – the thing that actually determines whether you win games or not, has been about the same outside of the weak Canada division, and this year.
This team isn’t on the LA Clippers level of mismanagement yet, but at least the Clippers won more than 2 rounds in a playoff run once.

This confirms the eye test for me. System is absolute trash, we’re constantly outplayed, but the team has enough game-breaking talent to pump up our Shooting % and PDO.
Give Keefe the defence and goaltending the Leafs have now, and we make the ECF at the minimum
Keefe was the right coach for the stars. Berube is the right coach for the bottom 6.
Berube, and his handpicked assistants, are bad. Remember too, the Leafs hired Lambert to be the middle man between Berube and the players last yr….
Notice how as soon as Berube comes in they completely lost every chance generation and suppression metric. How people are saying to trade Matthews and hardtack even though it will never happen is insane to me. A coaching change is the most realistic move we have.

They became more responsible defensively under berube. That was a major flaw for the team in the past. Of course scoring metrics will go down and saves would go up

There’s a clear delineation between 23-24 and 24-25 and that’s from Keefe to Berube and then another one from last season under Berube to whatever the fuck this is which is getting worse.
Berube on his own isn’t the problem, the players are the problem, but you can’t trade all the players so Berube has to go. They also can’t totally give up on the whole season and all of these players. Berube is something they can change relatively quickly that will make a difference.
Stunning how bad the shots for/against are. Certainly can complain about some roster issues (lack of a top 6 W with Marner gone), but that the problems made it start last year make it clear Treliving has not built a good roster and Berube has a terrible system.
Oh look, we immediately got worse when we started playing Berube hockey.

Holy Bérubé absolutely reeks, please fire him yesterday. Running the talent to the ground with this garbage. We outperformed like crazy last year due to elite goaltending and Tanev.
I would rather make playoffs, lose in round 1 or 2 than watch this dawg shit losing boring ass Bérubé hockey AND miss playoffs.
