NHL Highlights | Oilers vs. Wild – December 20, 2025

of Richards in net for John Hines. Quinn Hughes of course recently picked up and we’re underway. Conor McDavid wins the opening faceoff and it’s sent in and some oil play on the third line with Majapani and Adam Henrik. Here’s Capri off dishing and a shot off the post right there. A great chance and Zukarelloo >> the bar. Nice give and go with Capri off in the middle and he tries to go short and side. Zack Himman by Ekholm and then turned over by Quinn. Hughes for a second time. Hughes the league leader in time on ice. Here’s a steal and a breakaway for the red hot Balding. Walks in. Back hitter score. One- nothing Wild. Baldi’s 21st. Team play similar to Montreal. We saw the four breakaways against the Montreal Canadians. right here. Again, you play with the puck at the the offensive blue line, you’re going to be pressured. And Baldi, that’s what he does. He follows the bouncing puck for Echo. He tries to sweep this one through. Baldi wins that puck battle. He’s off to the races. This is a terrific move, though. >> He’s 6’2, 215. I mean, that’s rock solid favorite of the net. DRAG MOVE BACK. S Pickard once he gets body positioning, look out cuz you’re not going to grab him in. And then that’s the the activation by Faber. You’ve got two defense. >> I’m not sure he realized now finds him. Quick shot save. GUSTOSON REBOUND A backhander and that stopped as well and Baldi put in place. >> But again the short-handed chance the speed is avoid to get to this puck first. Holds on to it. Finds that pass. A nifty one on the backhand side to Echo who activates and Hughes >> gives it up for Baldi who scored on a breakaway three minutes in to give Minnesota its current lead. Zucarella Kiy one-time score. Set up from Hughes. Two nothing Wild. Baldi’s fifth in his last four games and 22nd on the year. This is a blast. >> Good setup here by the Minnesota Wild to move this puck around and Baldi just absolutely cranks this one. I mean, he’s got a lot of time and open lane to shoot this puck. Not a lot of respect for Baldi on this one-time. He can blast it. That’s a citle and McDavid together on a five on five shift. McDavid gives way to nurse through Erikson and off protecting his Bard down low. Dry Sun return to Bard loading up. Shot tipped home. Beautiful tip in front and it’s Andrew Mapani and boy did he need that. His first goal in 22 games puts the Oilers on the board. Two Minnesota really rolling. Four minutes of a power play. They score one. Good shot from the blue line. The first one with traffic. It was McDavid that kind of fought his way into the offensive zone. Perfect redirection by Vonaponti on the second one. Little wister by Bard. So important to get it by that forward down into the danger zone. He does exactly that. And this redirection is money. Hyman the dry side on to Bard. Here’s Heyman. Back to Booard. Wide open here. Get made Gustin. There’s no going to be there’s not going to be any icing call here. And now a pass by Hartman and Capri off. And staying with it is Pickard to stop Capri off not once but twice. Dry settle beneath the goal line. tried to fire it off the pads of Gustoson. The rebound stays in. Good keep by McDavid. Little give and go and then Duttle. Not much of a pass back to him, but he’ll get it back anyways. McDavid again to Dutle. A shot. SAVE BOUNCES. REBOUND SEND AND SCORING. THE OILERS FINALLY BURYING. I THINK IT was McDavid who tucked it home. And we are tied at two. Gustoson could not get the whistle and finally that puck ends up in the back of the net. >> Good movement of the puck here. Good recoveries right there. Just a little bit of extra effort by Zack Heyman doesn’t allow that puck to get out of the zone and as a result goes to work once again and a couple box passes but you stay with it. Eventually a give and go that drives into the net. Look at the bodies around Gustoson here. I mean, Hyman is on his face in the blue paint. There’s not a whole lot he can do. He gets taken out right there by Uricek. And once he’s down on the ice, Gusen can’t roll. 22 goals. The only men with more in the league right now are Morgan Geeki in Boston and Nate McKinnon in Colorado. By the way, the Avalanche are here tomorrow for a date in the Wild. Middleton jumps up, sore. What a beautiful give and go. And the finish by Ryan Hartman and six seconds before the break, Minnesota regains the lead at three-2. Punches through, gets to the net, and they’re going to see this play. It doesn’t look like a whole lot here to start things off, but it’s that pass into the zone and then he just drops it back to Middleton who beats his man up the ice. That’s the key here. It’s Middleton, the defenseman, that gets to that puck first and then a quick little repass back to Hartman. Bam. redirection pass >> saying, “Hey, when we’re in the offensive zone, guys, this is kind of how we might be able to break him down.” We’ll see if it translates, but >> to free it up for Bard. >> Spurgeon didn’t like that too much. >> McDavid. >> Booard shot off the post rebound AND SOMEHOW IT STAYED OUT >> and rightfully so, but this is the movement you’re talking about. Booard. Jab back to Booard by McDavid. And here’s He keeps the play on side. And now McDavid is loose. Centers and a shot stopped by Gustoson against Nen Hopkins who’s been around it today. >> He has been. He’s had some really steal by Bushard. Excuse me, Louie. Good read. And then the Oilers with a miscommunication. And it’s threeonone THE OTHER WAY. JOHANSSON ERICSON DENIED BY Pickard to prevent Minnesota from stretching the lead, including this one on Erikson. It’s 321. Baldi thrust down by Max Jones. Got back up in front. A quick shot. Another save on Johansson. This time by Picker >> with his 22nd goal of the year. A power play goal that briefly tied it. Hartman got it back 6 seconds before the end of the first period. A scoreless second follows. Olson just out of his reach. And now Hartman on to Zukarelloo again. Centering pass on the back then tipped and then blockered away by Pickard. Jake Paul a double broken jaw that right hand by Joshua that ended the fight but good save by the chin and he was a tough customer. He ate it like it was nothing too. One-time dry center on a save made by Gustoson. Might look back at that one as a game saver. AND HERE’S TERASENKO. RICH SHOT BY PICKER. Rebound off the post and tucked in by Terraenkco. Four to2 Minnesota. Potentially a gamechanging sequence. Gustiffson every two games in his career. That’s a lot. Here’s the chance. The one-time right there. He gets it away through the traffic. Kicked out by Gustoson. Little lob pass is knocked down by Bousard, but it’s the stay with it. Terasenko with the first one. Another chopping swing by and then Terasenko picks up the garbage afterwards. It’s Treadin that gets to the puck first. The bobbling one after the save by Picker. And he gets the shot through. Oh, this really close on going into the zone, but it go off of Blue Shard, so I don’t think it’s going to matter. And then Perisenko from the sides able to tuck this one home. 4-2. Longest drive spell without a goal since October and November of 2023. Here’s McDavid spinning off a kick to THE NET. SIMPSON REBOUND LOOSE. Heyman can’t get a stick free. BOO TURN TO DRIVE SIDE. ANOTHER SHOT OFF THE SIDE OF THE NET. Opportunities to put nice passes through but just the pace a little bit off. Davis starts off with that drive. This comes in scrambles around. Ivan digs it out. Great. This pass here just a little bit into sending it out. McDavid heading to the net around Baldi. NOW TERRY AT HOME HAS FLUBBED IT. GOT IT BACK TO TRY TO SETTLE. See didn’t know where the puck was. His feet moving to the middle of the ice and he finds the play down in the middle. That’s the first chancing puck and it’s fighting off a check from Broaddin. Tric settle showing one timer. Booard knock set on the step block. Rebound lane down. No cover. Whipped down the ice off of Booard. Terraeno around Booard. Gets it up. Starting the empty net. 52 and that’ll do it. And some good defending. This is a nice job by Broaddin to stay with McDavid. Don’t allow him to get right in clean. But again, this puck will get down into the danger zone and then sell the block. They play a stingy hard game. They’re comfortable. This is not little brothers and sisters that the Wild are doing this against. This is against the league heavyweights. Minnesota

Matt Boldy scored twice in the first period and Vladimir Tarasenko tallied a goal and an assist in the Minnesota Wild’s 5-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

  1. As some random level 98/100 Canadian guy who roots for the Oilers, I have to say:
The energy in Minnesota is indistinguishable from ANY level of hockey up here. Yous guys fuggin give'r, bud! 🤩

I'm pretty sure we should team up and conquer Wisconsin or some'm.

  2. Нефтяники решили нахрапом освоить дикие территории , но местное население было с этим несогласно, не солоно нахлебавшись нефтяники были изгнаны из диких мест .

  3. 😍😍😍Thank you Bouchard once again for your contributions. Hey at least the Soilers are in 3rd place in Pac Div. Kings are not playoffs position right now.

  4. Well, the Wild’s best 6th man is still Bouchard.

1st goal: Bouchard, zero defensive effort.

3rd goal: Stillman, infected by Bouchard’s indifference, pure reactive viewer mode.

4th goal: Bouchard, defensive cosplay, as usual.
