San Diego Padres TRADE Mason Miller To New York Mets? | MLB Trade Rumors
So, could the San Diego Padres’s be trading away Mason Miller to the New York Mets this 202526 MLB off season? Well, here on the screen is a trade proposal or a trade idea on X from Dan Bartell’s which says hypothetical Mets Padres’s trade. Padres’s received Mark Ventos, Jonah Tong, Will Watson, and Jack Winger and the New York Mets receiving Nick Paveta and Mason Miller. So, this trade idea to me is actually quite intriguing because the Padres’s reportedly have been shopping Nick Paveta and Mason Miller out in the trademark market this off season. In my opinion, the Padres’s probably should not do that, especially after retaining Michael King a couple days ago. Now, the Padre’s roster is still really damn good, but if they want to go out there and make some more moves, perhaps restock the shelves a little bit because they have made a lot of deals uh in the past couple years with a lot of their high-end prospects, it’s going to be a pretty steep price to pay, but this is sort of the deal that would have to get it done more or less in my opinion if you’re the New York Mets. Uh which have been doing an okay job this off seasonason kind of replacing some uh players like Luke Weaver, uh they got Jorge Palano, they of course got uh Devin Williams, etc. But they lost out on players like Devin or um Edwin Diaz as well as Pete Alonso. So Mets fans are not happy right now. I think if they were to go out there and make an aggressive trade for Mason Miller as well as Nick Paveta, you make your pitching a lot better despite giving up a lot of your future and high-end prospects uh like Jonah Tong for example. So Nick Paveta this past year for the Padres’s had himself a fantastic season. He put up a 5.3 war, 13 wins, five losses, an RA of 2.87. in 31 games played. He had 181 innings pitched, 190 strikeouts, and a whip of 0.985. So for the New York Mets, I think addressing a starting rotation has to be a priority for them this off season. They have to get better, and the fan base isn’t happy right now. So if you’re able to go out there and acquire a legitimate, in this case, perhaps an ace of the team and and Nick Paveta, it probably takes them out of the running for players like Freddy Peralta or players like Terrick Scubble just because of what you’re giving up uh with Jonah Tong, etc. But Nick Paveta, very talented player, could bring a lot of value to the team. He is a little bit older, going to be 33 years old next year, but does have a couple years remaining, under contract at about, I don’t know, about 12 13 million bucks per year, it’s a pretty decent option in my opinion, uh, for the New York Mets. Also, if you’re able to get Mason Miller, who’s one of the better players in all of baseball, which of course the Padres’s didn’t really acquire for very long in this case, it kind of makes me scratch my head a little bit. Like, he’s 27 years old this past year for the Pods, a 2.2 2 war, one win, two losses, an RA of 2.63 in 60 in 60 games played. He had 22 recorded saves, uh 61 innings pitched, 104 strikeouts, and a whip of 0.98 and 0.908. So Mason Miller one of the best relief options in all of baseball if you want to shore up the bullpen, have a one-two punch next year of Mason Miller perhaps closing out games with Devin Williams, Luke Weaver, etc. The bullpen gets a lot better. He’s only 27 years old as well and under team control until after the 2029 season. So, a player that is very coste effective, not going to cost you a lot financially speaking. It’s a really solid move for them. Now, you are giving up quite a bit and as I mentioned before, if from the Padres’s, they probably want to keep players like Paveta and Mason Miller. But, I don’t know, is this going to happen? Your guess is as good as mine if I had to pick a winner off this deal, it’s a pretty stiff price to pay uh for both teams. But, if I’m the New York Mets and you’re getting Nick Paveta, a potential ace for this team next year in 2026, as well as Mason Miller for the foreseeable future in their bullpen, I love this move. And this would actually be a pretty good move for the New York Mets to make despite sort of striking out on a lot of high-end players so far this off season. But as always, leave your thoughts
