No. 5 Oregon piled up 51 points against No. 12 JMU to advance to the second round of the College Football Playoff. The Ducks will face No. 4 Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 1.
The Ducks defense took its foot off the gas a bit, allowing JMU to score 33 second-half points, but the offense held strong, totaling 514 yards in the 51-34 win. Oregon QB Dante Moore threw for 313 yards and four TDs, and he added one on the ground for a five-touchdown performance. WR Malik Benson hauled in five catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
JMU quarterback Alonza Barnett III threw for 273 yards and two TDs as the Dukes clawed out an impressive 509 yards, but the defense couldn’t keep up with Oregon’s speed and physicality as the Dukes’ historic season comes to an end.

In spite of the scoreboard, the Dukes are still fighting in this second half, holding Oregon to a field goal, then going on a 99-yard touchdown drive in the dying minutes. RB Wayne Knight set it up with a 49-yard run before getting tackled at the 1-yard line. Barnett capped it off with on 4th & Goal, rushing in for the TD.
