I think cooked is more in the realm of what Jonathan Cheechoo became
Matthews is nowhere near that yet, even if he isn’t quite earning his paycheck. But I personally don’t care about that, it’s not my money
Still the best Leaf of all time.
The thing is he is going to go down as one of the best leafs of all time stats wise but I just feel like he has to do a full 360 for his reputation to stand up to those other greats
I’m gonna be honest. I had a hard time giving a shit about the 60 goal season as well as the 69 goal season.
Those two things should be among that of the most memorable Leaf memories I have but it’s been hard to give a flying fuck after the Montreal series. I want to care and I wish I could but I just can’t.
It’s funny how I can fondly remember Sundin’s 500th goal (which came during an absolute shit season). Mat’s was always likeable.
Auston used to be likeable. Anymore listening to the guy is just like I dunno…
If you only read this sub, you’d think Auston Matthews is the only player on the team playing like shit.
William Nylander, who makes almost as much money as Matthews, is completely awol, yet I don’t see one thread and very few posts about him.
Troy Stetcher might be the team’s best player at the moment. And I’m only half kidding.
Don’t worry in 40 or so years no one will remember much but the stats.

Can we maybe hire an offensive minded coach who will put these guys in positions to succeed in the offensive zone and on the powerplay before deciding that the best goal scorer in the league for the last decade is cooked? Might be the prudent approach rather than the current system that uses him as a penalty killing, checking line centre and on a powerplay that doesn’t prioritize puck movement at all.
Just a thought considering the alternative is moving along from the best scorer in franchise history because his worst two years have come under the same coach.
Man everyone needs to chill tf out and relax, he’s the best Leaf to ever play. To say no one is going to care? Be a fan of your city and your team and at least be happy for your captain breaking an all time franchise record. This is extremely rare for a franchise this old and storied so enjoy the season where you can
