Denver Nuggets Postgame Media vs. HOU🎙️
cross with the lines one player says another >> I guess I think there is something I mean >> yes >> I mean he he was shooting the all really well. You know, I think um I think uh you know, we had a game plan uh uh that we were kind of down down big were down and then when we step up he kind of he needed like you know when he when he makes one or two uh it’s u that he that’s his how to say no superpower that’s his thing you know he’s gonna shoot more and he he made a lot of a lot of trees you know and But especially in that in that third quarter uh he he scored two in a row I think and from 10 they went to 16 points difference. It’s good to see him pumped up a little bit, you know. Uh but he, you know, that’s I’m thankful he he was uh he was on my side and it’s good to it’s good to know that uh he’s still on my side. >> Huh? No, he is. He is. I’m just I’m just joking. >> Got a little shippy there. Is that just these guys three times in a couple months or >> uh Yeah. Yeah. I I guess so. >> Obviously, you’ve had time spent with Kevin Durant. You’ve got against him in a playoff series. You played with him in a playoff series. Just what was that relationship been like over the course of this past few years? >> It’s been cool, but I think it’s been cut slow now after tonight. Some words was said that’s a little disrespectful. So, we I can’t wait to see him next time. >> What exactly was said tonight? Next question. >> Just I guess so as as to the last three games. Is there a little bit more than that coming into this? Aside from >> I guess it’ll be a really good playoff series. That’s what you take from it. Uh both teams play really hard. They’re super physical. Um they trying to prove themselves. Um yeah. >> So Bruce, to be clear, there was a line that was crossed from just being competitive tonight. >> As a man, there’s certain things you don’t say to another man. Um, yeah. >> Does a game like this get you excited for a playoff atmosphere? >> Of course. Of course. All the court, I was asking when we going to play them again. Um, I don’t know when that is, but I can’t wait. >> Obviously, they they got it going shooting wise tonight. You guys struggle to shoot tonight. Just what was the like how much does that sort of I mean, it doesn’t control your mentality and your ability, but like >> I mean, nights like like that is going to happen. We just got to be better defensively. Um, no, can’t leave Reed Shepard open. I don’t know how many threes he hit tonight, but he he was he was great for them off the bench. Um, and then, uh, KD, we we we just we can’t let him shoot six threes. He was five to six tonight. Um, we just got to be more physical. >> This was DA’s first ejection. Um, do you guys appreciate him kind of having your back end? >> Of course. Of course. I mean, it was a tough night. Um, we we didn’t get a lot of calls. Um, so he was just trying to give us energy, give us give us some life. Um, yeah. >> How much do you relish the challenge defending? >> Oh, I love it. I love it. I could be more I could be physical. I mean, I was physical and they were calling fouls. So, I don’t I don’t know what they want me to do. Um, one foul he just ran right into my chest and I stopped him and I got a foul call. So, um, I guess I got to be better. to to be clear as as far as whenever he said something that crossed the line, was it when or before you kind of stared him down after that bucket? >> Um, he said that he said it before to someone else and then he he said it to me. So, it was before and after. >> When your offense isn’t going the way that it typically is, what can you go to? What actions can you go to? How do you think you can get yourself back on track within the flow of a normal game? >> Offense. >> Yeah. >> Uh, I don’t think it was our offense. I mean, it’s going to be nice like this. We got to play defense. We got to stop people. Um, and that’s the biggest thing. >> You think early start had anything to do with just kind of a little slow getting to the game? >> Uh, no. That’s not an excuse. We got to hoop. Once the ball goes up, we got to be ready. >> Bruce, I know it’s maybe off the beaten track, but you were at the ABS game in a unique position. Did is there any takeaways that you took from even last night into today or or can shape yourself moving forward? The of that one sport. >> Um I wish there was fighting. >> I wish we didn’t get fine cuz uh would have had some fun. >> What was that like >> last night? >> Yeah, >> it was great. Uh it was a great experience. Um y’all like me with my >> um my commentating was really bad. I didn’t know what I was saying, what was going on, but I tried. >> Yeah. Would you have dropped the gloves tonight, so to speak, if if fighting was kosher in NBA? >> I would have thought about it. >> Was it was it their defense or your your guys just kind of not missing or missing some open shots? >> No, just missing some shots. Um they didn’t do nothing to make us uncomfortable or anything like that. We just missed our shots. Um they’re a desperate team. and they lost two games in a row in overtime. So, um we should just expect that a little bit better. >> When you guys get ready for Utah coming in Monday, what what lesson do you learn from this game? >> Um just uh keep putting more stops together. Um keep putting more runs together. Uh getting some defensive stops. Um get out of transition, get some easy ones. So, I think we do that, we’ll be fine. >> You’ve played in a lot of playoff games as a veteran. Does does this feel in this series so far? Utah feel a little playoffy. >> Yeah, I feel a little u you know play off experience uh helps with uh situations like this. I mean um um it happens. You just got to prepare for it uh when time comes. And um I think we’re handling it very well. >> What’s your perspective on the the relative offensive struggles for you guys tonight? >> We missed a lot of open shots. Uh I thought, you know, we didn’t turn it over a ton. Uh we had a lot of possessions that seemed like our energy wasn’t properly there. You know, finishing cuts, playing through a lot of physicality, uh which we need to do a better job of. But I did think we created a lot of really good looks. It didn’t go down. Especially we’d make a run, cut it to five, cut it to seven, cut it to nine. It felt like we would make miss a shot, we’d miss a dunk, they’d make a three. Uh so there was a lot of those uh those moments. You know, they shot the hell of the ball tonight, 19 to 35. Uh, so you give them credit from that standpoint. Just one of those games in the NBA, you know, they they played better than us. That’s why they won. >> Is this a situation where this is just one of those games where you’re due for a shooting performance like this or was the process different leading up to it? >> No, I don’t think it it was we I mean, we’re doing the exact same thing. You know, we missed some really, like I said, we missed some good looks and I think it can kind of drain you a little bit. you know, you just you’re playing super hard and things that have happened for us naturally over these first, you know, whatever 26 games, it just didn’t happen tonight as far as the shooting numbers. Uh so, yeah, just one of those nights. Um really, by the way, really, really proud of the guys at the end of the game, pressing and trapping. Uh they had to keep their guys in the game. Uh so, uh just proud of that group. They came in, they didn’t come in and just kind of go through it and go through the motions of a game that were down. uh you know they cut it to 10, you know, had a chance, honestly. I thought we I thought we had a chance there to get it under 10. And so I’m really proud of that group. I I just says a lot about those guys and and their belief in our team, you know, and their belief in what who they are in our team because everybody’s collectively a Denver Nugget and when you get your chance, play hard. Uh and I thought they did. >> This is the second time Reed Sheper’s gotten hot against you guys. I felt like the end of that third quarter was kind of pivotal, I guess. What did you guys lack when it came to, you know, keeping him in check? Yeah, I you know, when he’s out there with Kevin Durant, it’s hard to be crazy aggressive and pick and roll because now you’re leaving him, you know, because you have to rotate behind it. Uh but we didn’t do a good enough job getting through screens. And then when we were up uh with him, I didn’t think we were up enough. You know, he was he was shooting rhythm shots, stepping into his shot. Um and he’s obviously a really talented offensive player. So, yeah, you’re right. It’s twice and it’s been the same kind of stuff. We’re just too far down the floor. But beyond that, you got to get through picks. Like you can’t get screened like that or we got to learn to do what they do and fall down. Like if we can do that, maybe you get a call from the official. But uh yeah, we had to do a much better job on Reed. Uh you know, we just I felt like he got a rhythm because early in the game, we didn’t touch him. And once a guy like that sees it go in, uh you know, something destructive can happen and it did. >> What made you think enough was enough to get the second technical? >> I just uh I it felt like a reactionary game earlier in the week. Uh that’s what it felt like to me. Uh it felt like they had one foul, you know, with five minutes to go in the second quarter. And I just felt like both teams were playing so hard, extremely hard, physical. Um I give the Rockets so much credit. They crash the glass every time. And then we get two somewhat soft fouls on our best player, which leads to him fouling twice that are fouls, and that leads to four fouls. I had to come out of the game. So honestly, I was confused >> and so I was just looking for answers and I went out there to find them and turns out I had to leave. So sometimes sometimes confusion can lead to destructive things, right? You got to have you got to think things through yourself sometimes. You know, you go to other people and sometimes they they just don’t want to hear you. So it was u you went a long way to get an answer. Did you keep >> I did and and it seemed like he just kept walking away further and further, you know, and I just I thought I thought we would talk and uh turns out they told me I had to leave and the whole thing. So yeah, I uh it was a tough night for us for sure. >> Do you think any of the commotion from after the game had any effect on the way it was officiated at all or was it just the in-game kind of reaction? >> Yeah, I don’t know because you know I don’t know what other people are thinking. Um, like I said multiple times, game two or earlier this week, you know, our two centers fouled out of that game, uh, it was, you know, they were up, I think it was 2414 of fouls in the fourth quarter. So, I hope that wasn’t what happened. And I don’t think it was, you know, Mark’s one of the best officials in the league. I thought there’s other, you know, the other guys, they did it, they did the best they could. I just felt, you know, it was just, like I said, I was just confused with the flow of the game. Um, you know, and I got to be better than that, too. That game wasn’t over. I let the emotions get, you know, get the best of me. Um, but you know, when you care about your players and you feel a certain way sometimes, you know, you react. >> You played obviously played twice in a week. What >> I know it’s a long ways away, but what did these games show you about the intensity it lies ahead in the playoffs in this conference? >> Yeah, I think it and it really was like a playoff game because we played so close together. Um, even the game planning and all that stuff, you you just did it, you know. So, it was uh I think what it says to the West is unbelievable. And the fact that the two teams you saw play today are not even close to the one seed right now just says everything about our conference. Not to mention, if you watch Minnesota OKC last night and you know, Minnesota’s kind of the mix of teams right now, but look at the the talent level there and what Anthony Edwards did last night and their team, what they can bring to it. Not to not to mention what you saw in the cup with San Antonio and down the line. It’s just such a competitive conference and it’s really going to be I think a race of who can stay steady but also who can just stay healthy. And right now we’re not you know we don’t have a full complement of players but I think everybody’s just crossing their fingers that they can get to the end of this marathon, get into the tournament and have their full roster available because you’re going to need everybody in this conference as you saw tonight. Houston is they’re alone. They’re tough to beat. How does Joker in those two quick fouls change especially against a good team? They’re short-handed. How you got to approach things emotionally how guys? >> Well, it changes I mean everything because he’s got to play careful and you know it’s he can’t be as aggressive and pick and roll defense. He’s got to be careful with the offensive rebound. Um yeah know it changes the way somebody plays. Absolutely. And it’s not like he’s the only player that’s that goes through that. Uh but he’s such a focal point for us with our offense. we play through him and then like I said defensively he’s up and he’s the guy that’s you know his responsibility to be up with Durant and Shepard is it’s immense. Uh so if he can’t be as aggressive obviously it changes things you know I thought I could have done some different things but we cross match uh you know put somebody else in the pick and roll which you know we down the line maybe we’ll have to do that you know with Katie and Shepard was um having some fun with your rejection. It looked like obviously Bruce was going at him a little bit earlier. Were you okay with just sort of the back and forth as far as the trash talk from from both sides? >> Yeah, I mean it’s competitive. You mean KD’s that’s what he’s every night. You know, he’s competitive guy. Talks a lot. Um he’s a hell of a player. No, I think uh you know, it’s just two really competitive teams that really wanted this. You know, we had a chance to win the season series. Um you know, they’re coming off two really tough losses, overtime games. So, there was going to be a lot of heat to this. Um but to their credit, you know, they made shots like I said and we did 19 to eight and made threes is the game. You know, I thought we competitively took on the game. Um but they were the better team tonight just like I thought we were the better team the other night. So that’s how it is. Two really good teams and I think anybody would want to watch us play multiple times. So it’s a it’s a fun matchup. Just wish we would have got it done today, but we didn’t. And you know, we’ll come back Monday focused, ready to go.

It looks like they played for Vegas today🤦‍♂️
Yall dont be too down, we’re down 2 starters and our 6th man, tied for 2nd in the west, and we’re 4 months from the playoffs. We’re doing great…
Ok fine KD had a good game, but F him, what a D, he sucks. Nuggs fans hate the guy now.
Cam Johnson and Tim Hardaway Jr shot bricks the entire game. Had they made even 40% of their shots the nuggets would have won.
What's the point of an interview if we can't hear the questions?
Gg
We can't keep calling stat padding MVP
role players talking like starters i hate it
Nikola was the only player with +20
