Post-Game Press Conference: Duncan Robinson | Pistons vs. Hornets | 12.20.2025

Duncan, you guys hold a really good offensive Charlotte team to just 86 points, which is the lowest total you’ve allowed this season. What does that say about just the way you guys defended tonight to hold them off? >> Yeah. Um, they’re a talented team. They got a lot of good players. Uh, you know, we were flying around making multiple efforts. Thought we had stretches where we were really good um from an effort standpoint and execution. It’s, you know, just about tying together the effort and the execution all the time. So, uh, I thought we took a good step tonight in that regard, though. >> When you did have those stretches where they would try to claw back, like you guys went up 20 in the third quarter and then they brought it within seven, I think, towards the end. I mean, in those stretches, I guess, how did you guys try and find a poise or a way to to lock it in there? >> Yeah, I mean, usually it’s our defense just getting stops, um, that really helps us because it also gets us out in transition and that’s when we can be, you know, our most impactful. So, uh, I thought we just held the line. you know, good teams are are going to make runs and they made some shots, made some plays, but we uh we held the line, which was important. >> How are you feeling after exiting the game Thursday? And was there any doubt uh about playing tonight at any point? >> Uh there was a little bit. Um I’m I’m feeling all right though. Yeah, I was I was uh thankfully Thursday was not serious. Obviously, I was a little spooked when it happened. Um but uh yeah, thankfully not not too bad. It was fun to be back out there. I try to if I feel like I can get up and down, I always try to be available. >> Um, two-part question in a way. For you personally, what has it been like for you um to get an opportunity to get to know JB Vicker staff and how has he been able to, I guess, kind of like rebuild this franchise in a way? >> Yeah. Um, it’s been great, you know, learning uh his system and just getting to know him as the person. I think uh he just excels at connecting with his players and believing in his players and encouraging his guys. Um he does a really good job of towing that line between having fun and taking things very serious. Um which I think is a really hard thing to do as a leader and a head coach. So, uh it’s it’s been just great, you know, getting to play for him and you know, he breathes life into all of us, encourages us to be the best version of ourselves. So, um, you know, I’ve really enjoyed, you know, getting to know him and and playing for him. >> Duncan, uh, Pistons get it done tonight despite, you know, another game, you know, kind of struggling shooting from the three as a team. Uh, what’s kind of your message to your teammates and how do you kind of get through that as as a team when you’re when you are going through kind of a slump like that? >> Yeah, you know, just just really trying to be process driven, you know, understand that we got a lot of capable guys that can really make shots. Um, you know, I try to focus more on the shots that we’re generating and making sure that they’re off a good offense, you know, ball moving, finding the open guy. Uh, the makes will come and, you know, I know guys are working and I know guys are capable. So, um, it’s just a matter of just staying process driven and and not letting, you know, the misses compound. Um, but instead just moving on to the next shot and next opportunity. >> Another night of opponents throwing a zone at you guys. It’s been a bit of an adjustment all season. Kind of talk about your progression of what you guys have seen and how you’ve grown from it. Yeah, we’ve seen it a handful of times now. Um, you know, teams usually try to throw it in as a curveball just to kind of, you know, me mess with our rhythm. Uh, I think we’re doing a better job of just recognizing it, you know, first and foremost and understanding, you know, what we’re trying to achieve offensively, um, you know, when they go to it. So, uh, teams are going to do it. It might take a couple possessions here and there to sort of get acclimated, but I thought we adjusted pretty well tonight. >> Seems like you and Kate are continuing to just develop synergy out there. Um, kind of make the game seems easier for each other. Where do you feel you two are kind of in that progression? >> Uh, you know, I think it’s it’s, you know, something that’s going to continue to grow. You know, I think it’s we made a lot of progress from game one, um, preseason game one, that’s for sure. But, uh, you know, I think there’s still stuff we’re leaving on the table. And, uh, it’s just a matter of just getting more and more reps, you know, with each other. You know, we’re seeing different defenses. Obviously, he garner so much attention, so a lot of it’s on me to just try to find ways to make life easier for him. um and you know create a little bit more space for him to attack cuz he’s you know so good when he’s aggressive. So um but we’re getting there. I think we’ve we’ve shown some growth and uh it’s it’s always fun. It’s a good challenge to try to figure out. >> All right, thanks. >> All right, appreciate it. >> All right, we’ll open up
