Capitals vs. Red Wings | NHL Highlights | December 21, 2025
Watch Pavilier up high. Sherro put his body
into his man’s side of the goal and a save. Oh, squirt it free. That got tapped away by Leonard
defensively. John Leonard just saved a goal. Only duel in the league to have that. You
have to go back to Colorado 1920 season for two of those. Pavo Franc and Michael
Hutchinson. That gets shot right into the belly. James John Leonard laid one over.
Hamnick centering feed and a chance there for Cop as well to help him fan on. That
could very well be because you normally don’t fan on something like opportunities
like that. Nice spin back out front by 100 foot wrapound. Comper whacked at it.
Loose puck off the side of the blocker. Picked up by Bollier turning there on
Sandine Pelica who stayed with him and a backhand shot and a save by Telia’s
got the quick beat going today. Boyare chased by Van Reinsteike made the
pass for Dow and went for Frank Carlson laid one through here for Brailier. A
save. Talbot didn’t know where it was. Didn’t get out, but he made the first stop. Here’s
Farravari, the defenseman wraparound try. Stopped there by Tel going to get on those
points quicker. Too much time and a switch off manto man. What a reverse this is, Mick
of 24 hours ago. 7-1 shots Washington again. Yesterday in Washington at the end of the first
period, it was 17-6 for Detroit. You knew it was coming. They’re a darn good hockey club. I think
Todd McCullen sensed it was coming too. He knew they’d be better. That gets stolen off Telbot
into the slot. Oh, he was down but not out. He made the save. He’s swimming and the puck
comes to the near side. Move for Edmonson. Finny Larkin cuts back with it. That gets knocked
away. Edmonson will be betu goes for a change. Edmonson. Nice feed. Raymond. Save made. They
really miss him down the middle. They’re missing two of their top nine, including Ryan Leonard.
Is Washington. Leonard hit by a Trou hit right in for Frank. He scores. Ethan Frank makes
it one to nothing. Blown tire on the play. It’s Johansson who tripped right there and a
nice move to go to the backhand and tuck it. It looked like five hole and there’s
the the fall down by Johansson. Yeah, that’s five hole and a one nothing. Hamick
will head up ice. Dropped back by Apple for Elmer Soderblam. Save made. Puck loose.
The NHL schedule gets a little tough, but Obie said he’s going to try. Hope so. Elmer
Soderblam is hurt. We hear from Sergey Karov on the first intermission there. Red Wings need
to get a hold of this puck. Yeah, not easy. Otis put it toward the goal and that’ll be
held and then lost an edge and went down as Roy gets the puck back and brings it to
center. Threeon two for Washington. Joining late is Chikan. There’s the pass across and a
save made there off of Billier. Big Matt Roy. Friends and family here for him. Long shot in.
Kept alive for Edmonson for Debrink. Catching it, bringing it. Here comes Cop. Save
made rebound. Cider is there. Oh, stick just got lifted. Kept in by Edmonson.
Shot. Oh, and a save on a redirect. This was really well executed to Bavilier to get
that chance in that. I couldn’t see whether he got a piece of that or not, but I don’t know. The
clock was running out. Sider got hooked right as he went to shoot it. No response there. And then
I think I don’t think this would have counted anyway. But nonetheless, a mad scramble at the
end. A non-goal for Washington at the other end. And Detroit probably feeling, you know what?
Red Wings failing to score in the first. Just 20 first period goals for Detroit. Big collision
in back of the net. That’s third fewest. Here’s Stro with a shot and a save made by Talbot. On for
Denise’s son Dylan who gets one ahead to Raymond. Raymond cuts back. Shoots one and a save by
Lindren. Chikin cleared one ahead for Alexi Pro. Roy to Pro. Knocked down by Debrink off a
steel. Barkin trying to catch up. De Brink at the shot and held
by Lindren in the nation’s capital. James Van Reck gets one ahead here for Coner.
Coner with room in and out of the right 2012. Mush McJenko with that one.
Oh, and a good save there. Definely knocked out of the air by Wilson.
Good play for Stro. Drops one back through the skates. Protest shoot it back in ahead to
center for James for Rasmusen and James Van Remsteike made that play. Here’s Ovkin with it
defensively. 14 goals, 31 points for Ovetkin. 31 points second on the team. 44 goals a season
ago and the record breaker 895 that got tipped back down in front and finding it Tel sent in by
Apple Roy got boxed out. Danielson on Chick moved it to Ovetkin. Shot right in and a backhander
high. I mean I can’t say it’s never happened. There a lot of ruts out on the ice. You’re in
a rut. All right. I learned to skate when I was three. I know my way around. Good save there off
the shot from Brous Faravar came over to hold it in. Knocked off Kamik stick in and out of the
glove of Telbot. His cider with the 20 points. Partial unit gets switched up here as
Danielson gets ridden to the boards. Picked up by Finny for Sandine Pelica. Here’s Raymond
shooting. Scores. Boy, that was off the boat. You can hear that baby. Here’s Sandy Pelican
on his backhand. Right hand shot on the left defense. He’s got to pull that off the boards. And
this may have deflected off a stick way high in the slot and beats Lindren. He’s been solid today
to tie this game at one. Raymond’s seventh goal, his 26th point the past 22 games. Yeah,
that’s what you think when you don’t get your two minutes served. Oh boy. place.
Yeah. 11 goals now and 27 assists on the season. There’s Leonard. Save made. Rebound,
but he’s got that smothered. Here’s Appleton. Sherro to Sandine. Pelica stopping a turn and a
shot. Here’s Finny getting back as Roy a diving. Finny tried to get to it, couldn’t but stayed
with it and stole it anyway. Look at that play by Finny Clark. He was an offseason acquisition,
one of only three on the opening night roster who didn’t play last season with Washington. Nice
job, Leonard right there. Caps around him. Here’s Debrink. Scores. It found its way. Leonard went
to the net the play at center ice with two caps on him a few moments before he was able to retain
possession and get the puck in to allow this play to even begin to happen. There’s a beginning and
there’s an end. The end was the puck at the back of the net. Swipe it out to center ice. Clark
back defensively able to make the play. Loose in front of the net. A blocker save by Tel
Avar had sent it in. Travis Hamick tipped by Appleton on for Danielson. Soderblonde to the
net. Back there. Dow moved it to the corner. Bilier again. Back to the line. It comes here for
Chickman. That went wide to the net and grabbed Gibbs. No, I was fast though, but
I played football with buddies, but not save right in front. Cleared away. What a back in for Raymond. Out of the glove
and then just went wide. Wraparound try getting it back from Chickley who
heads for a change as Stro brings it in able to find Carlson. Loose for
Frank. He scores through the legs again. Wow. Two in the same place
on Telbot. And we’re tied at two. Carlson that made the play. There were
two Red Wings there. Frank was just the the trailer that picked up the loose change
and there’s no he came right off the bench. Nobody checked on the way back was McI
pass is in. Danielson save made by Lindren turning with it. Mcichel Ovetchkin
post in front picked up here. Oh, Larkin was hooked a little bit. Larkin’s away
to the races. A penalty coming here. Larkin in on goal. He can end it. Oh, and he can’t
do that. But there will be a power play. Lin went to his left. Washington number
17. There’s the boy. There’s the penalty. He might have got the trap. Sandine gets checked.
Oh boy. Look out here. Two Red Wings are up. It’s Cough. It’s Finny. There it is. Just too far
for him. Around for Cough. He’s got Cider. Goes there. Fires. Score. Oh, game winner.
Mo Cider. Red Wings. Take it. Three to two. Hey, buddy. There’s a look at it. What a what a That’s just a cannon. Holy smoke. What a setup
by Cop. Bang! Bang! washing a tired.

Sweet
Let’s go red wings. Always good to hear Ken and Mickey on the call.
8
Weird to see the caps wear the blue helmet with white shirt
That Seider celly went hard
The German with the v-2 to win it
I think this is the Team that finally gets into the Playoffs.
Good win
good on the NHL for once. To give us the Ken and Mick call for the highlights instead of the NHL network. had to suffer threw it watching it live called by the nhl network but at least its on youtube.
Good game! 👍
Go Wings! Baby
LGRW!
Awesome to have genuine playoff hopes again LGRW
I've been hating on Talbot lately, but he was pretty solid today.
beautiful celly from seider
Why didn't Rasmus Sandin number 38 go pressure Copp in the CORNER? Dang it!!!
LGRW
I still remember people questioning Yzerman for picking Seider 6th in the first round in 2019. What a beast of a player he's becoming. 👏
This is sad, the Caps and Ovi are in another slump again just like the beginning of the year. The winning streak didn't last long. Sad. Oh well
“It’s Johansson…”
Yeah… we know.
WTG RED WINGS…YOU ROCK!! ❤
@nhl you learned your lessons for announcers
I think Ovechkin's controller disconnected from low battery on that game winning goal.
Detroit🏀 Red Wings is now my favorite hockey team because Detroit, Michigan makes me think of Iran 🇮🇷 because of comic book characters Spawn and Astaroth in Soul Calibur.
Hope to see Iran 🇮🇷 beat Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Hope to see Detroit🏀 Red Wings win the Stanley Cup like 2008 again too.
