New York Jets vs New Orleans Saints RECAP & REACTION | 2026 NFL Draft IMPACT | Jets Move Up To 4

All right, so the Jets lose again. Um, this week it’s to the New Orleans Saints. Pretty much everybody that I talked to expected this result. Uh, really everybody that I talked to has expected uh an 0 and3 finish actually, right? We got the New England Patriots next week. Week after that, we have the Buffalo Bills. You know, maybe is there a situation where the Bills rest their starters? Uh even if that’s the case, the depth on the on New York is so bad that we’re probably going to be on like an equal playing field. If that’s the case, uh we’re going to talk about the NFL draft, right? Because we have some games, we looking like the Titans looking like the Titans have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs. We’re going to talk about it, but first I I want to really talk here about Chris Harris and the defense. Um, you know, in regards to the talent on the defense, the overall roster, the depth, uh, I was, and look, right, the Jets lost the game. I understand it. They lost by multi-cores. The defense, I would say, was improved all things considered. I think we saw a kind of a bend but don’t break approach. I think we saw a lot more zone than we typically do or have this season. Um, I think the players were flocking to the football. Was it perfect? No. But let me just read off the defensive roster today. Le let’s just read this off and just kind of think like in NFL terms, right? Landscape across the league, defenses across the league, great defenses, good defenses, average ones, bad ones. Where does this pure roster stack up? again from a talent standpoint and a depth standpoint. Undrafted free agent Dean Clark, undrafted free agent Jordan Clark. Quantz Stigers is starting. Of course, the Jets are continuing to roll with their, you know, rotational edge rushers here in Michael Clemens and Brady McGregor. We also have Jarius, excuse me, Jarius Monroe, undrafted free agent, who I like, but still, right, undrafted free agent here. Mike Hill Walker at linebacker. Kaylin Saunders at defensive tackle. I mean, Malachi Moore, you know, he looks he’s a day three pick. He’s a day three rookie, fourth round rookie. He looks like the most polished player on the defense right now. So, if I take that roster and I give it to, you know, take your pick on any good defensive uh mind in football, right? A Todd BS, a Jim Schwarz, whoever. I mean, really, what’s going to be the result? We don’t have enough talent. We don’t have enough depth. So, based off of the context, based off of the circumstance, uh, I was actually impressed with with what Harris was able to show today. I I I mean, multiple undrafted free agents here. Once again, Will McDonald and Germaine Johnson just not making much noise rushing the passer. There is a real discussion, by the way, about both of them just being rotational guys, being backups, and the Jets looking for two new starters at the end next season like that. At some point we we have got to look at what’s transpiring on the field. I don’t think that’s a stretch to say. I don’t want that to be the case because I want these guys to pan out. Both guys were first round picks made by Joe Douglas. I think both guys have still have a lot of potential. But based off of what we’ve seen, I think it’s a if you’re a Jet fan right now and you just watched that entire Saints game, understanding that we have three wins, understanding that the Jets are literally bottom three in pass rush uh sack percentage on defense, it does not look like we have two first round talented high ceiling guys at the end. It looks like, and granted, right, in the case of Germaine Johnson, he’s coming off the Achilles. I don’t understand why quarterbacks get the Achilles excuse or pass, right? like, oh, Kurt Cousins, or oh, Aaron Rodgers. It takes it takes these guys a full year to come back from the Achilles, but any other position, nobody seems to to to bring it up, right? It’s just like instant expectations. I don’t get it. I do expect uh Germaine to be better next season, but uh regardless, the production is still not there this season when it comes to affecting the quarterback. I think it’s a real conversation, right? If the Jets, if Dar Muji is on the hunt once the offseason hits, hey, we’re looking for some starters out there via draft, via free agency, potentially a trade. I doubt it, but still, you know, c could there be someone who is talented and there’s a team that might not want to pay that player like a Konimido with the Giants, right? New coaching staff coming in. You have Burns, you have Abdul Carter, you know, just throwing ideas out. I don’t think the Jets are like, well, we’re totally fine at the end. We just need one more rotational guy. We can bring in a 33-y old vet and we’re going to be one of the top 10 pass rushing units in in football and defense. No, I I don’t see that. We need legitimate legitimate upgrades there. We do. It’s season’s over. I can’t get too angry here about the pass rush, but it is just non-existent. So again, right based off of everything, I I’m I’m not going to say I’m pleased with Chris Harris, but I mean, gosh, there’s really only so much you can do. So much. And then you factor in the offense, right? Because the offense just could not sustain a drive. The offense was extremely predictable. I didn’t really like Inkstrand’s game plan coming in. There’s nothing down the field. There’s nothing vertical. Uh it’s just breeze hall or nothing. You had multiple failed uh blitz pickup attempts. Jeremy Rucker just had no idea what was going on. Brady Cook did not look good. He was sacked what seven, eight times or something, something crazy. I mean, one of the biggest needs of this New Orleans Saints defense is defensive lineman and pass rushers. If I, you know, when I say that and you’ve if if you’ve only watched one Saints game all year, you’re probably thinking, “What the hell? No, they don’t. The Saints are fine up front. They’re totally fine. Look at what they did today.” That is not how the Saints normally look. The Jets were just so atrocious up front that the Saints looked like uh you know pro bowlers, all pros all over the place, right? Brady Cook just had nowhere to go with the football. The offense is unwatchable, right? Just Bree Hall run on first down. Bree Hall run on first down. Bree Hall run on it’s almost like it’s Breeze Hall or there’s zero chance of anything happening success-wise. Um, every time Brady Cook drops back to throw, you think it’s just going to be an, you know, a checkdown, a a small screen, something within five to six yards of the line of scrimmage, there’s just not that push to go down the field. And, you know, we saw a lot of that with Justin Fields. We saw a lot of that with Tyrod Taylor. you know, is it Tanner Strand’s offense or does he just feel hamstrung because of, you know, not having Garrett, not having, you know, a ton of of running backs that he can cycle through? And obviously down to QB3, who’s an undrafted free agent here. I mean, the offense is just so basic and vanilla. But, you know, when I go when I personally go back and I watch the L22, you know, a day or day, sometimes they need a full 24 hours to kind of get a a break from what we what we see on Sundays. But me, this is just me, you know, from an honest p, you know, standpoint. Uh, there are guys like the concepts like there are guys that get open. You can tell there is somewhat of an idea of what’s going on compared to, you know, what we saw the past couple of seasons with Salah and, you know, most notably Nathaniel Hackett, just complete offensive ineptitude during that era. At least with Inkstrand, I can kind of look at, you know, I watch it back and I get what they’re trying to do. It’s just, you know, a failure to execute. Um, it’s a mistake. It is maybe a failure. you’re losing a a one-on-one matchup or something or you have a drop or you have a great play and it comes back due to a penalty or the quarterback misses him or he’s open and the quarterback doesn’t pull the trigger. At least there is something there. But just today in a vacuum, I just didn’t like the the game plan. Just it’s so one-dimensional with Bree Hall. Um but again, it is what it is. We can’t freak out too much about it. Literally every Jet fan I talked to uh expected New York to lose, right? So, Jets blown out once again. It sucks. Let’s talk about the draft, right? Because we have some good news. It could have been amazing news, right, in regards to the Jets moving up. And by no means am I rooting for the Jets to lose, obviously. I just I personally, if you want that to be, you know, to happen, that’s totally fine. I will never tell another Jet fan never tell another football fan how to root for their favorite team. There are plenty plenty of of um you know examples throughout NFL history where a team tanks tanks or they lose a bunch of games and they land the number one overall pick or the number two overall pick and they’re totally fine moving forward. Um so there is somewhat of a success plan there. Like you can uh argue that for sure. But for me personally, I kind of watch the games and it’s I I just look at as a win-win, right? If the Jets win the game, awesome. That’s great. That’s what I’m really hoping for here because I I still truly do believe that that’s important and to not mail it in. Uh but if they lose, you kind of have this cool little bounceback effect, right? This is not uh uh soccer, right? This is not the Premier League where if you’re a bottom three team, you get kicked out. No, you get rewarded with top picks. So, it’s this cool bounce back. Hey, awesome draft pick benefit. Um as far as the draft goes, yes, of course, the Jets lose. It was expected. However, the Titans beat the Chiefs. The Titans actually blew out the Chiefs, right? Gardner Mitu gets hurt. Is Patrick Mahomes in consideration for MVP? I mean, that team without Patrick Mahomes just looked lost. They looked lost, right? I mean, Tennessee just complete from start to finish. And Tennessee is literally a bottom three team in football, especially record-wise. You know, they were just running circles around Kansas City. um just absolutely nuts. So Tennessee wins, Cleveland made it close against Buffalo. They couldn’t get it done. The Giants complete ineptitude, right? They lost to the Minnesota Vikings 16-13. Raiders still have yet to play. That’s kind of the big team here. If they get the number one overall pick, I don’t see them trading out of it. Um, but I think right now because the Titans won and the Jets lost and the Browns lost and the Giants lost, I believe be uh based off of the current strength of schedule, right? We can’t really dive into it too too much because the season of course is, you know, still playing out. So, the strength of schedule uh is is continuously modified. The Jets would have the fourth pick. So, last week they had the fifth pick. This week they have the fourth pick. So, just something to monitor there. Uh, now if Cleveland would have won and the Giants would have won, now all of a sudden it’s whoa, that number two pick, that number three pick is totally realistic. Let me actually just double check on that. I believe the Jets would have the fourth pick if the season were to end today. Yes. Okay. So, Giants right now at one, Raiders at two, Browns at three, Jets four, Titans five. Now, the Cardinals have yet to play right now. I think if the Cardinals were to lose today, they would jump Tennessee to to shoot to five. Um, and then obviously if the Raiders lose to Houston, which is expected, Houston’s on a tear. I do not want to play the Houston Texans in the playoffs if I was another AFC team. If the Raiders lose today, again, that’s the expectation. They uh should actually stay in spot number two, but of course that’s not for long. That’s just a oneweek thing. Why? because the Raiders and the Giants play next week. Um, and also too, the Saints and the Titans play, I believe, next week as well. Um, I could be wrong on that date, but that also could be, you know, another Saints win uh or sorry, another uh Titans win, too. You know, the Saints are on a little bit of a roll. I think they’ve they’ve played themselves out of um you know having that top three draft selection kind of area. But based off of how Tyler Shuck is playing, I would not mind at all if I’m a Saints fan just going BPA, adding another really good player to the, you know, in into the mix and moving forward. Just seeing what Chuck has with a full season, you know, hey, you’re the starter, you get all the reps in camp, uh and just kind of again see how it goes. I mean, this team did beat Carolina. They’re on a three-game win streak. They beat uh Tampa as well recently. I would just keep it moving, right? Just keep it moving. Don’t really rock the boat if you don’t have to. If they have the second pick or first pick, okay, it’s a different story. But right now, they keep on winning. I think I’m going to roll with Shucks. So, again, realistically, I think we know who the top five to top six are going to be. It’s just a matter of where exactly do these teams uh land. Washington is interesting, right? Because they just you just never even know what they’re going to be giving you on Sunday. They could either look decent and reputable or they could just be a complete no-show. Um, but yeah, that’s the order right now. It could change next it will change next week. Uh, and and as the uh the season goes on here, Cleveland, unfort they also play two tough teams down the stretch. I believe it’s Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. Uh, you know, Cincinnati big time win over Miami today. And by the way, you know, still no decision here with Dante Moore, but Dante Moore is from Cleveland. Does that maybe influence his decision? I don’t know. I got a whole video dropping on Dante Moore uh this week. Anyway, let me know your thoughts down below. Jets lose again. It freaking sucks. But I like what we saw from Chris uh you know, from from more from Harris here. I think next week that plan might not be the best because both the Patriots and the Bills are aggressive. They want and are hungry for yards and they will stack up against anybody. So, I don’t know if all that sitting back is is the right move, right? Because Drake May and Josh Allen don’t have an issue checking it down and also uh moving extending uh place with their legs. So, I don’t really know how that plan would would uh you know fare in these ne you know this week’s plan would fair you know over the over the next two weeks.
