[Elliotte Friedman] Washington, as good a pick to win the East as anyone, made things very clear this week: they are going to grab the best offensive player they can. They feel every goal is work for them.

  1. William Nylander. Leafs are in shambles, Carberry coached him, we can part with a first (which they are probably going to need) and his dad played here.

  2. I dunno all who’s available. But I’ve long thought there was a deal to be made between WSH and VAN. Hughes deal didn’t come to pass but I still think there’s maybe a Garland or Sherwood to WSH smaller deal to be made.

  3. Whatever we do, I hope we’re really thoughtful about it. We have a lot of promising players in the pipeline, and several active roster who are drastically underperforming compared to last season. And an old superstar who probably will be a liability in the playoffs again. Maybe we should move McMichael, he has looked out of sync all season. I don’t want to, I want him to succeed here after all his development. But I doubt 0.5PPG with 5 goals is going to get him a new contract. Strome also does not look like himself, maybe we move him for another center? Should we give up on him already? Would anyone actually pay anything for Lapierre? Milano?
