SURPRISE: Detroit Tigers DFA Justyn-Henry Malloy for Kyle Finnegan—Is This the RIGHT Choice?

Detroit Tigers shake up their roster by designating Justin Henry Malloy for assignment to make room for reliever Kyle Finnegan, whose 2-year, $16.75 million deal is now official. Is the Tigers bullpen finally gaining long-term stability, and did Malloy’s production justify this bold move?

Scott Bentley breaks down the ramifications of the Tigers’ latest transactions, weighing Finnegan’s high floor, contract incentives, and future role alongside Jansen, Vest, and Holton. The discussion covers Malloy’s struggles at the plate, defensive limitations, and the fallout from the Joe Jimenez trade. Additional insights feature Murakami’s signing with the Chicago White Sox, emerging Bregman trade rumors, and Tarik Skubal’s media tour across Detroit. Will these changes propel Detroit toward contention, or leave more questions heading into spring training?

  1. I don't understand it man
I would have cut like 10 guys before Malloy

I've completely lost faith in Scott Harris when it comes to the MLB 40 man roster

He's doing wonders with the minors
But he has no answers after 4 years
His trades have fizzled and he can't afford real free agents
Just one year has beens and waiver claims
    Fire Greenberg
    And hire a real GM
