WNBA is in peril, as things stand. Since Napheesa Collier called out the WNBA commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, everything has pretty much gone downhill. Cathy was accused of not using her resources well and not giving players the money that they deserved. Collier also revealed the distasteful things said by the commissioner about players like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and more.

Meanwhile, a new professional women’s basketball league is in the works. The speculated starting date for ‘Project B’ is November 2026.

The league would reportedly feature a global, Formula 1-style tournament circuit with high salaries that could go up to even seven figures, equity stakes for players, and a unique structure. The aim would be to attract top talent like Nneka Ogwumike and Alyssa Thomas, operating outside the WNBA season to offer year-round play with high earning potential.

Recently, Caitlin Clark’s former Indiana Fever teammate, Sophie Cunningham, talked about Project B and answered a few questions. Cunningham featured on “Sundae Conversations,” where host Caleb Pressley is known to put his guests on the spot. He asks awkward, hard-hitting questions in the most hilarious way. The same type of questions came towards Sophie Cunningham.

“She shoots those three-pointers, makes them look like free throws?” Caleb introduced her to the show, to which she said that’s what she gets paid to do.

Pressley talked about her free agency, saying, “If the WNBA screws you, you’ll find a plan B or what’s it called?” Sophie replied, “Not plan B. Project B. Project B.”

Caleb then joked, “It’s Saudi-backed. Is it Saudi money? You sure Saudi Arabia doesn’t want to pay women millions?” Sophie claimed that there was no Saudi money involved.

“You have so many people who support you and come to your games. Do you think you even need the leagues or could you just make money on ‘OnlyFans’?” Caleb joked again. Sophie smartly replied, “No, I think you do need the leagues cuz that’s what gives you the platform to have all these fans. Maybe plan B should support that platform.”

Sophie Cunningham Addresses Dildo Incident at the WNBA Game

In the same interview, Cunningham talked about her energy and how she plays with a lot of passion. Pressley recalled the infamous and disrespectful moment on the court from earlier this year when a dildo was thrown at the Fever player.

Sophie jokingly shared, “They’re dildos.” Caleb wondered, “What’s wrong with people?” Sophie replied, “I have no idea, but uh, it kind of scared me. I wasn’t expecting a dildo to be thrown at me, especially during a game.”
