As Blackhawks’ playoff hopes slide, is it time to turn attention to draft lottery again?

  1. >”“Tynan Lawrence feels like their type of player,” Pronman said. “He’s a supercharged version of Oliver Moore and would give them an elite young group of centers. Ivar Stenberg or Gavin McKenna would give Bedard a true top offensive talent to play with. Keaton Verhoeff would be the type of premium D talent that feels most ideal to them that they need more of. They have good young defensemen, but other than Levshunov, nobody is really a top-end talent, and Verhoeff is more well-rounded than Levshunov.”

E; Archive link at top works if you don’t have a sub

  2. Stenberg is the pick if we have a shot at him. D- men (Levshunov and Rinzel, maybe/ hopefully korchinski) will develop given time and experience. We also have the Florida pick and there are some exciting D options that could still be on the board like Xavier villeneuve. Not that we need a super offensive undersized D-man, but could be a solid swap for korchinski if we decide to part ways with him.

  3. If you get 1st just take McKenna get the cousins on a line together for the next decade.

  4. Playoffs were always a tough lift…With Bedard and Nazar both out it’s going to be even tougher.

I like any of McK, Stenberg, and Lawrence. Personally I would be against drafting another D at this point

  5. “If the window better be open in two years time, is it time to package the Florida pick, some of the three seconds and a prospect for some help, or do we need another 5 picks in the first two rounds again? Can we identify pro players that could help us, even a bit, in the next two years or are we going to package seconds for another late first rounder that if, everything goes right, could maybe be helpful in 2029?”.

Yes, the lottery will matter for us. But it’d be nice to see some urgency when Seth Jones isn’t forcing our hand and Florida can’t afford Jones and the backup that’s too good (and about to be too expensive) to be a backup.

I want the focus there. We’re likely too bad and too injured to salvage this year and the lack of urgency over the summer makes me think the seat was not very warm at the top this year.

But next year should be squarely in the “If we’re not in the playoff race in February, you will not be here by June. Act accordingly.” category for management.

  6. Sigh…

Howd we go from top 3 young exciting up and coming team to a hospital ward in literal weeks..

Am I seriously back on tankathon again? Fuck

  7. 100%

This our last season of tanking. Need one more high end forward prospect. If we add someone like McKenna or Stenberg or Lawerence plus Frondell and Kantserov that’s gonna be an INSANE boost for us up front. No more “all the Hawks have at forward is Bedard and then not much else”. That ends starting next season.

  8. I never thought they were making the playoffs, I thought best case scenario (meaning no major injuries) we would miss the playoffs by 7-10 points. Now I think we should be on lottery watch and make sure that no one rushes back early from injury.

  9. Was anything else an option this season?

I mean, we’ve seen flashes of what this really young team can do and the signs are great for the coming ten or so years if we can hold on to the core players. But we need at least one good draft pick more to get competitive.
