Colorado Avalanche Remind Minnesota Wild Who’s In Charge of the Central With Dominant Win

Colorado Avalanche hand the Minnesota Wild a resounding 5-1 defeat, halting their rivals’ hot streak and reasserting their dominance in the Central Division. Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar shine with multi-point performances, while Brock Nelson and Valeri Nichushkin’s relentless forecheck and scoring touch help tip the scales. As the Avalanche’s relentless attack produces another 42-shot night, rookie Gavin Brindley mixes it up and sparks a crucial power play opportunity, exposing Minnesota’s discipline issues.

Chris Micieli and Zach Pearson break down how the Avalanche’s suffocating forecheck, crisp special teams play, and goaltending from Mackenzie Blackwood stifled Minnesota’s offensive threats and stymied their prized new addition, Quinn Hughes. Key debates include the Landeskog injury scare, rising tension between the teams, and what this performance signals ahead of the Christmas break. Have the Colorado Avalanche reestablished themselves as the true powerhouse in the West?

  1. I saw a stat that showed teams playing against a team that is playing back to back games win 57% of the time against them. Only instance a team with rest days aren't favored is when they have 4+ days of rest.

  2. I'm am Avs fan that lives in Minnesota. The wild are my second favorite team. Growing up in the 90's minnesota didn't have a team when i was getting into hockey, and when i was playing, i was a goalie, so Patrick Roy got me to be an Avalanche fan.

  3. I was at this game in person, and I gotta say the Avs got under the Wild's skin almost immediately. They were baiting them into making bad passes, silly mistakes and taking penalties. Once the 4th goal went in it was quite satisfying to watch the flood of people start heading towards the exits. What a game
