What a game. Great game for Sid of course but the whole team was great. Letang had a much better game and Silovs was a much better game through out. An we got a win in a shootout! So good to see Sid being able to celebrate a milestone on a win.

Crosby’s feat is even more impressive than Mario’s since his fellow players were/are of a lower caliber than Mario had during most of his playing time. Letang and Karlsson are perfect examples of the lower caliber teammates the past few seasons. This might have been Karlssons worst game of the season.
Good morning DK, what a game! Yes, the comparison thing is, well, so difficult to even go into. You have Mario, his aura, his milestones, his "what if he never had….", etc and then the torch is passed to the next one, Sid. 18 years old 100+ points, cut from Team Canada at 19, yet won 🏆 after trophy at 19, youngest C, brought the NHL back from demise, the rivalry with Ovi, concussions and missed too much prime offensive years, win, win, win, wins everything, on and on, and still doing it in year 21! Unprecedented! Another Olympics Gold!? Does Sid play 1 or 2 more years after this extention, and by doing so passing 2,000 points? Onoy the second to ever do so!? I'm sitting here in Langley City, BC, Canada 🇨🇦 at 2:09 am just so truly thankful to have watched such an amazing ambassador for Team Canada, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the NHL, and hockey as a whole.

Sid, like Mario, had incredible pressure coming out of juniors, and apart from his scoring, Sid has been one of the greatest ambassadors of the game. His work ethic, love for the game, country, and his team make him a player that we will remember for a long time. Congratulations, Sidney Crosby!
There is no comparison between the two necessary. Both are simply of the few all-time greats in their sport, and two men who show class in all they do. We have been lucky to have them.
Sid doing it in Pittsburgh against his childhood team, Montreal, is a nice touch from the scriptwriters/hockey gods. Also a crazy twist with the Penguins getting a shootout dub

I hate the comparisons, different time different game. What they did back in the day is video game like. What sid has done is warrior like, his consistency over the years is second to none, and done with the personnel he has. Five on five he’s led and elevated guys who were never on his level, and dominated. I don’t recall any superstar ever who was sent out without serious talent next to him and do what 87 has done for two decades. No need to debate, Mario was one of the greatest of his time, as is Sid. We were lucky to watch them both, and Malkin, Jagr, Francis, etc!

One of the best episodes I’ve heard you make in the 4+ years I’ve been a daily listener. Your love for this game and this city DK is so palpable in this episode. I could listen to you talk about the greatness of this team’s legacy and the legacy of its legends of this team for hours. I love the app I have it but I can’t comment there. DK – Letang needs to be on the 3rd pair at this point and I don't think I'm saying anything groundbreaking here. Obviously the Pens don't have the personnel on the right side to take his spot. What do you do if you're Dubas?

Congrats to Sid! And to the guys for the shootout win. Younger super talented teams like Anaheim, San Jose and Montreal have really made it obvious we need more than Ben Kindel to excite the fanbase and make the playoffs again. It's fun watching those Canadians skate. Man are they good. Great win though.

sid is unreal. we are so blessed. but the fact mario was able to do it in nearly 500 fewer games – man, mario was the greatest hockey player to ever live. with a healthy back and no cancer, he 100% passes wayne. mario, sid, geno, jagr. we've been so spoiled.
