More of an opinion piece by Rosenthal, but he really outlines our options (and why he thinks Bregman's the best one)

  1. I still think Bregman comes back on a JD Martinez type of value deal, I don’t think anyone is outbidding our offer and the Red Sox aren’t going to outbid themselves. The market is just too small for him right now and we’re the logical destination.

  2. They are going to re-sign Bregman and he is going to be the 2026 World Series MVP and the 2028 ALCS MVP (Anthony is going to be the World Series MVP that year).

  3. Replacing Dick and Dobbins with Gray and Oviedo hardly precludes them from trading Early or Tolle, especially with Crawford, Sandoval, and Houck likely coming back at some point this year.

  4. I don’t see Donovan’s appeal. He’s got decent WAR metrics but his numbers across the map are super underwhelming.

  5. At this point I don’t see how any option makes more sense than a Contreras – Mayer/Story – Bregman infield (ideally moving Story to 2B and Mayer back to SS)

Gives us solid to great defense in all 4 positions, all 4 guys are 20-25 HR types, and we still have an extremely capable utility guy in Romy

  6. Nothing really new there but hopefully they do end up with one of Bregman, Bichette or Marte

  7. Is it too optimistic to hope Casas, Yoshida, + ?? is enough for Marte? Arizona has kind of a weak 1B and DH situation.

  8. If they are not going to give up Early to Tolle then the Cards are going to demand Duran or Abreu.
