SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and power forward Draymond Green got into a heated argument early in the third quarter of Monday night’s 120-97 win over the Orlando Magic.
The episode started after a turnover by Green, followed by Quinten Post committing a take foul. After Magic swingman Desmond Bane hit a free throw and Anthony Black hit a short turnaround jumper, Kerr called a timeout, and fireworks ensued. Green and Kerr exchanged words, and Green left the bench. He didn’t reappear until the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Kerr said after the game that since Green left the bench, he would not have put him back in the game even after Green returned.
“Tempers spilled over, and I just thought it was best that I get out of there,” Green said.
Both Kerr and Green agreed that the issue would not linger within the group. Green noted that he doesn’t believe this episode will linger because other episodes in the past haven’t lingered between the pair.
“We move forward,” Green said.
