[Lebrun] Doesn’t sound like the Leafs are bringing in someone to replace Marc Savard for the moment. Going to go in house for now. Obviously that’s subject to change.

  1. Wonder if this means that one of Lalonde/Van Ryn are picking up PP duties or if it means that some non-bench coach is getting a promotion.

  2. I like it. I’m kinda over just going through recycled people. Bring in someone a little younger too.

  3. …. Which is exactly what you do when the coach is to be replaced. I feel sick by the notion that they might let Trev ride out the season. Need to change the message and stop being content with what isn’t working.

  4. Would a decently skilled NHL team really be that bad if they just went out there pickup style and didn’t have any real systems? Obviously a coach would be needed for roster decisions, etc but I’m just talking in terms of game play.

  5. Sounds like management isn’t sure whether Berube will be sticking around. It doesn’t make sense to hire a new assistant if you bring in a new coach who have their own staff in mind.

  6. Don’t think Berube is in a position to be bringing new people into the org considering he’s hanging on by a thread himself.

  7. Seems odd. Can’t see Lalonde or Van Ryn taking that on. Is there someone in the background we don’t know about that can step in?

Otherwise this feels like they either didn’t put much thought behind it and did this just do something, or they are planning to fire Berube soon and will let his replacement pick the new PP coach. If the latter, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t just fire Berube now.

  8. I got a call earlier today from the leafs inquiring about my availability. They heard about my team some years ago at the Ontario Winter Games. We played an undefeated team from Sault Ste. Marie and we went 7 for 8 on the power-play. Even I was shocked

  9. In house? That’s Cliff Fletcher’s music.

“Listen here you nincompoops! Pass the puck to the rover! Shoot at the goalie’s face. Bees knees!”

  10. Fire everyone. Might as well completely rebuild, we know this team can’t win with this core. Keep the young guys and trade everyone you can for picks or prospects. Get new coaches and get rid of this trash GM

  11. The most important thing this team can do is replace Brad Trelivings phone with one of those children’s toys. If he can pick up the receiver, dial a number, and hear something other than “the rooster says cockadoodledoo” then he can cause more and more damage.
