I am absolutely aware that there is more nuance to the situation than just pointing at Paolo and calling him ass or wanting to trade him midway through the season, but there is a conversation to be had.
Sure, he’s coming off an injury and other key rotational pieces are hurt as well.
Still, it seems to me that he by himself is unable to elevate his game and his teammates in such circumstances, and we now got enough sample size throughout several seasons for that.
To me, it seems like he put in the wrong focus during the off-season. Every video of him was just practising his jumper- and the results we are seeing above are speaking for themselves. He arguably has improved his shot-diet this season and is trying to finish at the rim a lot more, but he’s still shooting way too many contested jumpers, especially when he’s getting gassed in later stages of the game.
My hornets question is, where do you guys think he will go from here? Best-case szenario would be that it’s just mostly conditioning and he’s still adjusting to the new offense and will get there at some point late in the season. Another scenario would be that he doesn’t get there this season and has to use the off-season to slim down to improve his conditioning and aggressiveness. What do you guys think? Let’s have a civil discussion with neither blind slander nor glazing.

PB is like what Josh Smith was 10-15 years ago.
Incrediby skilled and athletic player who is good/alright at a lot of different things but not one super elite skill.
With Paolo i always get the impression like he plays uphill. Every basket is hard earned and difficult. It is like he has to put more energy into his offense thab others by the way the plays. Rarely cuts or makes good playmaking reads out of doubles f.e.
He has definitely regressed offensively this year. Idk what is going on. Mosley also isn’t helping him with the play calling. It’s infuriating watching him get matched up with smaller players and pass the ball instead of posting them up or driving due to his size.
