“The Mets hold interest in adding a right-handed batter to balance out their lineup, people familiar with their conversations said. That could end up being someone who can also play first base.”
So, who do you want at first base?

Just go get Okamoto (and Imai)
Goldshmidt incoming
It’s gonna be Goldschmidt isn’t it
But our lineup is mostly righties now(?) and switch hitters that are better from the right side. We have Soto and Baty as lefties and that’s it.
Letting Pete walk without an offer or a clear replacement signed within one week gives all of us the impression there was no plan and no respect for what fans of this club value.
Aww, screw it.
Sign a pitcher and let’s play the kids.
It’s 1983 again in Queens!
Wilmer Flores
What a crazy insider scoop. Mets have interest in plugging the obvious massive gap at 1b!
too bad that guy Pete Alonso signed somewhere already
Reasonable: O’Hearn
Stretch: Okamoto
How we move forward? Ketel Marte, Bellinger or Tucker, Imai.
Yandy Diaz is the best realistic option imo. Perfect hitter to put behind Soto in the lineup. Destroys lefties. Okamoto would be fun too.
Wow, what an incredible scoop
Talk to the orioles I hear they have a power hitting 1B
Wow so the Mets want a bat AND they also want someone who can play first? Now that’s some serious reporting
Honestly cool with any combination of O’Hearn, Okamoto, Bellinger, Yandy. Still leaves us an OF short. Marte? Bellinger? Robert?
If Stearns likes positional flexibility, Bellinger seems like a no brainer to pair with an OF or 1B. Bellinger and Marte could hypothetically play OF and Bellinger 1B. Bellinger moves to OF in an injury.
Bellinger and O’Hearn? Bellinger can move to 1B in an injury. We pulled money off the books losing Alonso, Diaz, and McNeil. Do a 4 year high AAV with Belli.
Get ready for Paul Goldschmidt. All we needed was Alonso back man
I liked when they had guys who could hit, but couldn’t play defense. Or were really good at defense, but couldn’t hit. They still have a lot of guys like that, but it looks like the team has a new philosophy. I just hope they continue with pitchers who can’t pitch. So far so good!!!
Wow, I wonder who could of filled that hole…
Hi goldy 🥶
If only there had been someone available on the market to fill that role.
I’ve been telling people for the past few seasons, if Pete Alonzo had the career he’s had on another team, the Mets would have signed him in free agency. I still have no idea why they left him walk. It pains me.
Could they just sign the whole DR WBC team and be done with it?
Ryan Clifford is turning 23 this summer.
It’s time to shit or get off the pot
So not Arraez?
Probably gonna be a 1 year deal for Goldschmidt
Bro lmao
God I want okamoto
Should see if Pete Alonso from the Orioles is available. He fits that description.
I still think Bregman and Bichette could be options here.
Can we get another out fielder? We are doing last years DH platoon with first base and we don’t have an MLB level outfielder for LF/CF for opening day.
Okamoto is pretty much the only FA that fits the bill.
Rhys Hoskins would just be funny
I mean considering I’m sure we’re also after an outfielder I’m sure it could be a left/center fielder as well
Brilliant Nostradamus!
Yea, it sure would be nice to have a right handed batter who could play first base. Can’t think of anyone who could have filled that role for the Mets.
