Ian Rapoport On Raheem’s Job Security
“Owner Arthur Blank has shown patience in the past, but is it running out with a franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in eight years? He plans to evaluate the futures of coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot as the season draws to a close, as most owners do following trying campaigns. A strong finish certainly wouldn’t hurt their cause, and if Kirk Cousins finishes strong, it would justify a part of the QB decisions made last year. But people familiar with Blank’s thinking expect potential changes in some form to the football operation regardless. Nothing is decided and won’t be until after the season.”

  1. If Arthur keeps Raheem, we all know who the real problem is. We will know Arthur will never have a chance of winning at the top if he keeps him for another year.

  2. So yall tolerated Arthur Smith for 3 years but you can’t endure Morris? Plus Penix still hasn’t played a full 17 games yet. This defense is top 3 and offense will be great next year

  3. Good man, but Morris has not shown that he can be a head coach in this league. Fontenot has blown too many draft picks (outside of the first round). This team needs new front office and coaching leadership. It is not even close.

  4. There only two reasons I'm ok with bringing raheem back. 1 is if the steelers keep tomlin and 2 is despite screwing up his first DC hire, raheem nailed his second. Maybe he can do that with his OC

  5. Here is the reality regarding the Falcons recent success. The Cardinals had lost 11 of their last 12 games coming into the game against the Falcons. Tampa has now lost 6 of their last 7 with the only win in that 7 game stretch being against the Cardinals. The idea that the Falcons are playing well or have turned it around is going to get a heavy dose of reality when the Rams come to town.

  6. Raheem should have 1 more year. He’s a defensive coach and our defense is now one of the best in the NFL. Give him some credit for that. Zac Robinson needs to go now. Offense is our problem.

  7. Another 7-9 record. Another failed season. Bad coaching all around. From top to bottom except for the defensive side of the ball, which can be improved upon. Reheem needs to go with all his friends. This is a failure trying to hire a DEI head coach. Unless they get a head coach with a tough love, accountability like Kirby Smart, this team will never get over the hump, much less make the playoffs. That’s never going to happen with this failure of a coaching staff, along with Rich MaCay. Author Blank is stuck in the past mentality. Only winning enough games that doesn’t matter, nor make the playoffs. At least Dan Reeves took us to the Superbowl. But Falcons never had that killer mentality, take no prisoners attitude on the field. They lack true leadership. Unfortunately this coaching staff doesn’t have that.

  8. Real Talk .. The question boils down to what are they going to do with Cousins. A healthy Cousins may change everything. By the way, the Falcons have lost 5 games by one score, with two being in OT. Don't forget about the missed field goal opportunities.

  9. This franchise fired head coach Marion "Swamp Fox"Campbell, hired some other scrub. 2 years fired the other scrub. No one would take the job, so te Smiths had to RE-HIRE Campbell for a second stint. 1 year later, fired Campbell AGAIN.

Another year of Morris is just anothe layer of disappointment: another lump of pain in my stocking.

  10. The definition of insanity? Keeping raheem Morris for another season? And the Falcons have definitely made insane decisions we the fans are fed up they have the talent its the decision making

  11. Its not getting close that's matters! Close only matter in horse shoes and grenades this is football we need to win now ! Theres a very small window we have to when now with this talent they definitely need to keep the DC hes done well with the defense get rid of cousins raheem and let pitts walk all 3 replaceable

  12. Why does it feel like that the Atlanta Falcons don't seem to understand the NFL? The worst place to be is 8-8 or 8-9 whatever. An average ball club. You get very little in terms of the draft but you are also not good enough to win against top tier teams. I don't gamble on football or anything for that matter but trust me when I say LA Rams are the pick on the next Falcons game. Regardless, the rams may drop a loss to the Falcons, but it will just be another garbage win for the Falcons if they do. Blank will think look we are good enough to win against big teams, but these are humans. The guys on the Ram are like yes we want to win but we don't care….WE ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS. You are not. The Playoffs are all that matters. That's it. The NFC AND AFC Championship teams (those 4) are the good teams in the NFL. Everyone else is subpar. You have to remember this old adage… You are whatever your record says you are. Look at good teams in a down year…they always seem to be in the hunt…hanging around popping up in the wildcard. That's the mark of teams headed in the right direction, not garbage wins at the end of the year when other teams coaches are playing the bottom of the roster the whole game, keeping their starters healthy.
