Understand that beside Sheduer Sanders, very few pocket quarterbacks [like Billy Kilmer (1961) and Kerry Collins (1998)] have been NFL quarterbacks who have been their team’s leading rusher three weeks in a row! NFL teams know that having the pocket quarterback be the leading rusher is normally a losing formula. Similar to how you normally do not sacrifice your queen in chess because you are likely to lose. Therefore, it is not surprising that in 3 out of 5 games he has been the starter and leading rusher the Browns have lost. It is historically an almost no win situation Sheduer is in when he is the leading rusher (he is not a running quarterback like Kapernick or Vick capable of 150 yard rushing games).This is why what Sheduer is doing to keep the Browns competitive and watchable is insane! The kid has a high ceiling because he has good core skills, arm talent, wants to learn, and wants to win.

17. Browns plan A should be a different coach that can work with the rest of the team. Sheduer is the one player that kinda makes the coach's plays work. Everyone else has looked terrible. Not just the other quarterbacks. But the line and receivers and running back and special teams are uncoached.

    At quarterback, my plan A is Watson. He's not been healthy in Cleveland. If he's healthy enough he goes into camp at QB 1. Whenever he was healthy he was the leader of the NFL. In a fair competition he should beat out Gabriel and Sanders. That gives Sanders a chance to get the Jordan love treatment. If Watson sadly Watson isn't good, Sanders is a good football player. Watson on the bench as a backup might rehab enough to be into form.

    I think a decent coach could develop Gabriel into a good enough backup not to spend any assets on another.
