Good for them. I wasn’t as high on him as some people here… in 50 games with us he had a 736 OPS. He isn’t a bad player, but not someone we could give almost 15M per year to.

I thought O’Hearn was a good dude, but we’d essentially be better off playing Jake at 1st and Song at 2nd then giving him another dime.
Jake is excellent defensively, is a career .247 hitter and has a 162 game career avg. of 17 HRs, 77 RBI and a 107 OPS+, and his 2.4 WAR was the same as O’Hearn last year.
O’Hearn is average defensively, has a .252 career average and has a 162 game (although he’s never seen a full season of at bats) career avg. of 18 HRs, 69 RBI and a 105 OPS+.
Bottom line is I fail to see how we’d be better by keeping O’Hearn, I wish the guy well, but I’m glad someone else paid him.
Edit: I’m not suggesting we play Jake at 1B this season. I’d much rather we get someone and keep him at 2B. Just highlighting how O’Hearn doesn’t make us better at all.
We should take a flyer on Ty France. I know his numbers have been going down the past couple years but he’s not going to break the bank and maybe coming back will respark his playing.
