Ben Simmons casts right and retrieves left, a technique that allows right-handed anglers to keep their dominant hand on the rod for maximum control.

The evidence is overwhelming that he shot the basketball with the wrong hand.

KOC has been saying this theory for years. Thoughts?

  1. All I know is bro is always been right-handed and a complete nutcase so it would not be surprising to me that his entire life outcome has been because of his mental handicap.

  2. perhaps but the main issue with ben simmons was passiveness and not even bothering to expand his game. how would we know its a lefty/righty issue if he doesnt even take jumpers.

  3. Has anyone ever considered that he tried shooting with his right hand during some offseason and he found out he was actually even more ass than when he shot with his left?

  4. Did it ever occur to KOC that he tried shooting with his other hand and he felt more comfortable and maybe even better shooting with his right hand? My brother is left handed but he shoots and throws baseballs with his right hand just what felt best to him.

  5. I’m right handed and shoot guns left handed. This isn’t because it’s the wrong hand but because I’m left eyed. I can also switch hit because my left hand tends to be more stable due to using it for hand eye coordination purposes but my right gives more power.

    Perhaps something in play there.

I think the commitment to the bit here from KOC is hilarious

  7. Watch him come back in a season or two shooting proper and he’s suddenly an elite stretch big.

  8. I do everything in life right handed. Writing, throwing, shooting etc. If you asked me to swing a golf club or baseball bat right handed, I would not know where to begin.

I played my entire life swinging left.

  9. I’m right handed but box Southpaw and shoot pool lefty.

It does take skill to be ass both-handed.

  10. I reel with my left on a spinning reel and reel with my right on a baitcaster. I’m right handed.

  11. I mean, I throw a baseball left handed, golf left handed, shoot pool left handed, but anything bigger than a softball, I have to use my right hand. I shoot basketball right handed and throw footballs right handed. Not that it matters in this conversation because I’m not a professional anything.

  12. I do this and I an extremely left handed. It’s extremely difficult for me to reel with my right hand

  13. So the thought is he purposefully shot with the wrong hand bc he wanted to fail as a scorer? Stop

  14. This means nothing, I know a guy who shoots lights out left-handed but does everything else with his right hand. People are different.

  15. Wait, I’m a righty in everything, but I reel with my right hand? I just assumed that was the normal way. Am I tripping?

  16. Spinning reel “default” is left handed reel handle, although they are switchable on virtually any spinning reel. Its possible he intentionally does this but its just as likely he just happened to start using reels this way since 90% of spinning reels that are on a fishing boat will have the handle set up on the left(unless you are in Australia were for some reason everyone has their handles on the right).

  17. Rafael Nadal is a righty for everything else in his life… besides tennis were he plays with the left.

  18. >Thoughts?

Kevin O’Connor is a terrible sports journalist and freedom of press should not apply to him and only him. Prison, now.

  19. I knew as soon as I saw instinctually throw and catch with his right. And then you watch him play and he would use his right on layups all the time. He never tried to adapt. Plus injuries I guess

  20. When you think about it fishing is the one sport where if you stand there doing nothing for three hours people are like wow look at that patience

  21. I think the rumor has it that his dad told him to shoot left handed because it would make him harder to guard. It didn’t come naturally to him so he had to force it. It’s not like Lebron where he’s just naturally right handed when it comes to basketball, and left handed for everything else.

It’s pretty obvious that Ben’s right handed when you watch him finish around the rim. He favors his right heavily even when a lefty layup would be more natural, and just has better touch with his right.
