Big news from ken rosenthal. He doubles down on okamoto and the pirates saying that the pirates could be the surprise team for him and after the most recent moves he could be enticed to come here.

  1. Video is where he talks about the pirates and okamoto. He keeps mentioning okamoto and the pirates as a possibility repeatedly in articles and now in a video as well.

  2. This Line-up for a summer run would be pretty ridiculous, considering where we left off last year:

    1. R Konnor Griffin SS
    2. L Ryan O’Hearn DH
    3. S Bryan Reynolds RF
    4. L Brandon Lowe 2B
    5. R Kazuma Okamoto 3B
    6. L Oneil Cruz CF
    7. L Spencer Horwitz 1B
    8. R Davis/Bart C
    9. S Jake Mangum LF

  3. I really think they’re 1 more solid bat from being a playoff team. Whether it’s Griffin being a success in the Show or them getting Okamoto. I’m so hyped for a Pirates baseball season for once in a long time

  4. I want to hear someone say “The Pirates are all-in on Okamoto even after signing Ryan O’Hearn”. Once I hear that I’m confident they can sway him. But I’m afraid they’ll back off due to payroll restrictions.

  5. How is it that the Pirates are a “surprise team”, when it has been widely reported that the Pirates have had talks with him and are interested? It won’t be a surprise if they sign him, and it won’t be a surprise if they don’t.

  6. Alright…we sign okamoto too…I’ll renew my mlbtv scrip. I’ve been on the verge of having to leave the Bucs after 40 years of fandom just because of the constant inaction/care for the mlb team . A man can only take so much…

  7. Someone ought to do a little financial investigation and show these prospective free agents how much further their multi-year dollars will go in Pittsburgh (or maybe Philadelphia also) than they will in New York or California or other high income tax, high cost of living states.

  8. It sounds like this was recorded before the O’Hearn signing because he didn’t mention it.
