Could Finnie realistically push for Calder Trophy consideration, or is that a stretch?

  1. I think he could realistically push for it but he’s going to have a hard time trying to catch up to Schaefer, and leapfrog Demidov/Kapanen, who are having decent seasons, respectively

  2. Not likely, demidov has 30 points and Schaefer has 24 as a D

Finne has 19, hes 6th in rookie scoring. He isnt gonna win the Calder. Unless the other 5 above him get injured or fall off the planet

  3. No. He’d have to go absolutely insane to get into the mix with Schaefer and Demidov, plus Sennecke is going to hang around.

Schaefer is likely going to win it barring injury.

  4. For now Schaefer, Demidov, Wallstedt and Sennecke have too strong of a case but maybe he’s top4-5 for the story.

Though year to crack the top3

  5. He could make a run to be a finalist, I don’t think he has a real shot unless he goes on some insane heater. Very very unlikely. Not impossible

  6. It would be a great story from 7th rounder to Calder, but not happening with Sennecke, Demidov and Schaefer this year

  7. Is he an absolute overachiever based on his draft position? Emphatic “Yes.” Is he going to beat out a half dozen other rookies this season? Nah.

  8. No, and I’m just fine with that. He’s so thoroughly exceeded expectations that I am thrilled for him to be in the conversation.

  9. Doubt it. This is Schaefers to lose IMHO. 24 points as a D and the rookie leader is at 30. He’ll have to really fall off to not get it.

  10. Wings fan here and definitely not a great chance even getting in the top 3, but the fact that he’s a 7th round pick and is even in the conversation is absolutely incredible

  11. Not really no.

But that doesn’t at all take away from him being a 7th rounder jumping immediately into the league
