Honestly. It’s still Schaefer just as it was Hutson last year. Playing defense as a rookie is so hard, even if Demidov is killing it
How far ahead of Schaeffer would Demidov have to finish to win? I’d say he’s on pace to be about 15 pts ahead of him.
Let’s say he gets hot, finishes a PPG and Schaeffer goes for 60pts.
Who wins the Calder?
My surprise is Sennecke, dude a stud and i can see why he was drafted this high
Its still schaefers to lose imo
Unless demidov goes sicko mode down the stretch and finishes with 75+ points, for schaefer to play the impact D he is AND for the instant still be up there in production? Crazy
So long as he is making distance from Schaefer😅
When does Calder voting happen? Before or after playoffs?
If demidov has a great playoff run, even if it’s not supposed to count for Calder race it’ll still be in the minds of the journalists that vote.
Or if Schaeffer shits the bed
I predict Demidov is going to on a HEATER post olympics which is going to make the race much tighter
Gonna be a tight race.
Last year lane won the rookie scoring races, but Celebrini had a much higher ppg.
I think demidov needs to eclipse 70 points and Schaefer needs to continue to slow his point production.
If Schaefer is under 50 points and Demidov is above 70 its a solid race between the 2.
Thst being said Senneke could take it. Good crop
He totally sunck up on it. I didn’t even realize he was there, last I checked he was still behind Schaefer. He’s really popped off since Slaf went to his line.

A terrific rookie season so far. Habs fans are spoiled with young talent. I really enjoy watching this team every time they take the ice.
Unless Schaefer gets injured it’s not going to be Demidov
Looks like a three horse race. Many saying, though, if Schaeffer continues his stellar play, he’s a lock. Still, would be cool to see Demi finish first in points. Regardless, each team very lucky to have these players. But we also have Kapanen in the top 5 in rookie scoring! We are blessed indeed, and more high end talent on the way (Hage, Zharovsky)!

Not gonna lie that race is tighter than I thought it would be.
Scary part is, he hasn’t really went on a run yet and he’s at .81 ppg pace. The bonus is that Ivan has a mean streak to his game too and will end up getting under the skin of opponents here soon enough.

Looks like Schaeffer is starting to slow down a bit. I mean clearly its still impressive doing what he is doing as an 18 year old D, but he is 6 points behind Demi when they were essentially tied a few weeks ago.
I think it will be a lot closer if he continues this pace, but being a D playing big minutes and helping the Islanders to the playoffs all while being 18 will still keep him at the top but its going to be close.
