Through all his ups and downs Tippett has consistently been a good to great 5v5 scorer. Hes currently top 30 in 5v5 scoring per 60 and was top 50 in 2024.

Michkov is 57th as well.

  1. Owen Tippet facts:

    He was drafted 10th overall in 2017 by Florida.
    He is very fast.
    Physically he looks kinda like Wade Allison.
    He is better at hockey than Wade Allison.
    We got him for Claude Giroux rental at the TDL.
    He has a limited no trade kicking in this summer.
    He is a ginger & looks good in Orange.

  2. We need to sell high on some of these wingers. Not enough room for them all. You know Konecny, Michkov and Martone are locks for wing in the next couple years. That leaves 3 spots for:

    * Zegras
    * Tippett
    * Foerster
    * Brink
    * Barkey
    * Bump
    * Grebenkin (Unless they see him as a 4th line guy)

    Zegras is not really playing C and my hunch is the team doesnt see him as a NHL C.

  3. He might have the most drastic ups & downs of any Flyers I’ve seen (started watching in 2008)..

    His best games he looks like a dominant, top line F who has every tool.

    His worst games he looks like an unplayable disaster who makes linemates worse.

    I truly see both sides of the fan base. Those who want him gone & those who don’t.

    I sit somewhere in the middle because there really isn’t another F on the roster who can do things he can, but it’s so hit & miss it makes u question if u can win with him.

    My guess he stays unless a team selling off a legitimate 1C or 1D likes him as a piece of a package in return.

  4. Tippett is the 95th highest-paid forward, and 163rd highest-paid player, in the NHL, at $6.2M AAV. He’s 26 and signed through 2031-32. If he continues developing and plays to his proven potential consistently, he’ll be a tremendous asset for the Flyers or whoever they trade him to. And even if he stays a low- to mid-50-pt player, with cap increases he’ll always have value.

  5. He undeniably has a skill set that can translate to offense, and he’s very open to coaching. IMO it’s similar to TK in that they both need to outproduce their turnovers and defensive miscues, and learn to produce better in a possession offense instead of a rush offense in the middle of their prime years.
