Jared Goff Hate Makes No Sense..

  1. Goff is far from the worst problem on this team. O line is in shambles. There aren’t going to be many, if any, QBs that would have success with how the O-line has performed.

  2. Just live with it. I’m sure half of this sub also called Stafford “Stat Padford” back then. “Can’t beat good defenses.” “Pads in losses.” No QB is ever good enough for some people.

  3. He’s played well all season – but when it was in the line yesterday, he folded like a cheap card table. He deserves some of the hate.

  4. The INT stat is misleading. Also he fumbles a lot.

How many times has he thrown straight at the defender and they dropped it? Which is basically an INT. How many times does he throw it at the ground? How many times does he attempt passes more than 25+ yards in the air?

I do love Goff, but I’m tired of the bias cherry picking stats.

    We should be unbiased.

  5. Stats don’t mean crap when you fail at the most pivotal moments. You are only as good as the outcome of your hardest challenges.

  6. You guys are way too emotionally tied to Goff. He had a bad game. Great season, really bad game. It’s ok to critique his performance without the 100 posts defending his shitty play yesterday.

  7. Seems like another former QB we had. Some of the best numbers on paper but can’t win games.  That is all most people care about. The announcers  even said yesterday he was not on  the probowl list and most like because he did not have enough wins. I am not saying all these loses are his fault. I am just saying it seems everyone including probowl selection people put all the pressure on the QB to make the team win.

  8. Eh I don’t really blame him. I think the offense didn’t come through when we needed it most, multiple times. But I don’t really put that all on him. I think it just proves the offensive line drives the offense and if we can’t get it right we’re going to struggle.

I also don’t think it’s fair to put it all on the defense given the injuries. We just fell off this year. Shit happens.

  9. I will take any bet under 1000 USD with anyone who wants to take it that the Lions never reach a Super bowl with Goff.

Any QB worth anything would not lose to a team with 3 yards passing.  O line was abysmal yesterday and yet somehow the actual elite QBs get it done in those situations.

  10. All the NFL subs are taking this opportunity to absolutely trash us and tell us we’re a worthless fanbase who don’t deserve any team success. I say fuck the haters, this team plays better as an underdog and with a chip on their shoulder. O-line must be upgraded, that is by far the #1 priority.

  11. The “hate” so to speak from fans of the Lions only hate Goff is because they feel he doesn’t get recognition. He isn’t talked about like Dak (who is slightly above mediocre) he doesn’t get talked about like Josh Allen or other small/mid market good/great QB’s. The only reason they hate him is because the national media and talking heads don’t talk about him, or if they do, it’s in a negative context.

  12. No one should hate Goff he is who he is BUT, he shouldn’t be immune to criticism. In the biggest games Goff shells up. No oline is going to protect snap after snap after snap in a BIG game because in big games the other teams d line is prolly going to be impactful!

Last year in the playoffs his o line was the best it’s ever been and Washington def killed him. Honestly we have seen great regular season numbers with this team before that netted nothing. So, really what’s the point I want playoff runs not fun regular season wins.

  13. Most visible position is always the scapegoat…

    Lions Quarterback
    Red Wings goalie

    Been that way for decades.

  14. He had a terrible game last night when the last gasps of hope for the season were on the line. That’s not debatable.

But so did the rest of the team.

Are there better QBs than Goff with less limitations? Yes. Goff has better numbers than Josh Allen but it’s not really a question who you’d rather have simply because they are more dynamic.

But finding a Josh Allen is exceedingly rare. You’re much more likely to end up in a “Get rid of Sam Darnold for JJ McCarthy” situation than not.

Goff is the least of our problems when our offensive line is as it is and there are other glaring holes on defense.

  15. We need a center and for Goff to do something about the amount his passes being batted or tipped at the line

  16. He played like dogshit the last two games, each of which should’ve been treated as elimination games

He isn’t being protected and they never gave him an answer for that one, all season

    – both can be true –

  17. I don’t hate him, I just think he is mid. I think there are about 15 QBs in the NFL right now who would have equal or better stats than Goff in this offense. It’s not that he’s bad and I hate him, he’s just mid.

  18. Like I get it, but also these are cherry picked stats. For example, they dont include Josh Allen running numbers when comparing him to Goff. Yards in a loss should be higher since we’re throwing more. Just sayin…

  19. If the defense had a pulse we’d be 3 games better. If DC took over playcalling after the bye, we’d be in a different scenario, that’s another 3 game difference. I hate to play the ifs and buts game, but that’s the situation we’re in and have been in all season. To pretend Goff is the reason we’ve lost 8 games, is lunacy. The game yesterday is partially on him, you’re blind if you disagree. The other part is STOP THE RUNS UP THE MIDDLE WITH GIBBS. YOU GET GIBBS IN SPACE AND LET HIM WORK. MONTY PICKS UP THOSE 3-4 YARDS AND HAMMER THE DEFENSE, **THEN** WHEN THE DEFENSE IS ON THE BRINK OF COLLAPSE, GIBBS GOES TO WORK.

The other issue i had yesterday, they blitzed with 7 all game, cause it worked. Skip should’ve been an extra tackle the rest of the game. Tell the ref, “he’s eligible the rest of the game,” if that doesn’t work, have Skip report eligible the entire game to the point the ref goes, “yall know the drill.” Monty in the back field to pass protect, some combo of Gibbs, Saint, Waymo, and Tessy set out wide and we dink and dunk until they get tired of being beat and drop in coverage. I hate that we’re falling back in to SOL territory, but if next season even slightly resembles this one, I’m really concerned about the future.

  20. I think if Goff was slightly more mobile people wouldn’t be saying this stuff. My opinion is that people see him take sacks or dirt the ball and think that means he’s not good, when reality is its generally pretty smart, at least he’s not (usually) turning the ball over. But the flash of someone like Allen or Jackson makes people think they are far superior.

  21. Yeah it’s not Jared’s fault but I think he does get rattled a bit. I’ve been noticing over the last couple years when he is having a good game he throws dots but when he’s having bad games the ball always comes out of his hands really wobbly.

  22. Are we going to pretend that he wasn’t a big reason why we lost last year’s playoff game???

  23. The problem is people are only focusing on his passing stats and not all the other subtle things that contribute to winning that don’t show up in stats like passer rating, or completion percentage. Sometimes you need to scramble for a 1st down because the play that was called doesn’t work, or you need to extend the play, avoid a sack and hold the ball for 5 seconds because the first 3 reads didn’t get open.

The fact that he can’t do that kind of thing doesn’t show up as a negative in his passer rating or completion percentage or EPA per play because the fans will always be able to blame the offensive line for not blocking or the coach for the bad play call but other top QBs avoid sacks even if their o line has a bad rep or makes something out of nothing even when the play call sucks.

Lions fans just blame the offensive line or the coaching and then point to passer rating and completion percentage to absolve Goff of any blame.

  24. To deny that he plays the worst hero ball ever when were down is foolish. To say hes done that all this season is doubly so

  25. He’s good for what he is, but he relies on the O-Line more than a more mobile QB would and that’s why people are actually frustrated.

  26. Crazy thing is, looking at those stats makes me wonder what we could get in a trade for a guy like that. Might be able to fix all the team’s other issues. Hmm.

  27. It makes perfect sense if you actual watch the games, dudes a slap boxer just padding his own states with the same stupid ass screen pass and inability to scramble in a modern league .He’s not taking the lions to a Super Bowl.

  28. Great stats. Now show how he’s performed in the last 2 elimination games.

I like Goff. Glad he is our QB, but show all the stats, not just cherry pick.

  29. I needed to see this. Hard to watch yesterday and not think that Goff looks bad. He just always looks terrible under ANY sort of pressure which is difficult to rationalize. Its just hard to think that our O-Line could go from best in the league to awful. I understand injuries are a big problem this year, but is this era really just going to be “well if we were healthy we wouldve made it to the superbowl”. Because thats what it feels like. At some point, we have to be able to win through injuries. Idk.. just a tough season. Knew it would be with the schedule and losing both coordinators, but still feels bad.

  30. Not hate, love what he can do. But he seems to completely lose vision when pressured. Needs to be able to make more good throws while rolling out or under pressure.
Stats are different than wins and championships. In this league you need to make something out of nothing at least some of the time. Also if you can’t defeat the blitz, or when the box is loaded up. Not going to win.

  31. A comment from yesterday made that I feel is pertinent.

“Most high volume posters are teenagers to early 20s, and that age group is dumb as fuck”

  32. Mfers really saw dude with 1 second to throw last night and said “yeah that guy is the problem”

  33. I know the entire team sucked but he literally had three turnovers by himself. Elite QBs don’t do that. Why are we treating Goff with kid gloves? He shouldn’t be immune from criticism. Yes h s been playing well but he simply can’t perform when he needs to

  34. as a rams fan i’m here to tell you it doesn’t make sense to me either and i hope goff can get you guys a ring one day

  35. Rams fans also made excuses for him. Nobody is saying he’s the worst thing about this team or is straight up bad. But he’s not going to get this team over the hump. He’s a wonderful guy but let’s not blind ourselves.

  36. hate to be that guy but how much of his stats are because we were trailing so bad or had 0 momentum in the game or it being “garbage time” ?

  37. You guys realize posting up Jared’s stats doesn’t eliminate his weaknesses right?

He’s still incapable of escaping pressure or throwing downfield. That’s never gonna change
