The Chicago Bulls completed a two-game sweep of the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, edging out a 126–123 victory at State Farm Arena to cap a dominant road stretch and continue their late-December surge.
The win marked Chicago’s fourth straight and improved the Bulls to 14–15 on the season, pulling them within one game of .500 and strengthening their position in the Eastern Conference play-in race. It also followed Sunday’s 152–150 shootout win over Atlanta, giving the Bulls back-to-back victories against the same opponent on the road.
Once again, Chicago relied on balance, pace, and timely execution to survive a high-scoring contest that remained tight until the final possessions.
Josh Giddey recorded his seventh triple-double of the season, finishing with a well-rounded performance that anchored the Bulls on both ends of the floor. The versatile guard controlled tempo, facilitated offense, and helped steady the team during critical stretches, becoming the sixth player in NBA history to record 25 career triple-doubles before the age of 23.
Nikola Vučević continued his strong play against Atlanta, providing consistent scoring and interior presence. The veteran center’s ability to score inside and stretch the floor kept the Hawks from collapsing defensively, while also opening driving lanes for Chicago’s guards.
Matas Buzelis remained a major factor, continuing a strong stretch that began earlier in the week. The rookie forward knocked down perimeter shots, attacked closeouts, and provided athleticism on both ends, helping the Bulls maintain offensive rhythm when Atlanta threatened to seize momentum.
The game unfolded at a fast pace from the opening tip. Both teams traded baskets early, with neither side able to build more than a two-possession lead through much of the first half. Atlanta leaned heavily on its backcourt to generate offense, while Chicago countered with ball movement and efficient scoring inside the paint.
By halftime, the contest had already turned into another high-scoring affair, echoing Sunday’s matchup. The Bulls emerged from the locker room with renewed energy, briefly pushing the lead behind strong defensive rotations and quick transition baskets. But the Hawks responded with timely shooting and aggressive drives to keep the game within reach.
The fourth quarter became a test of composure. Atlanta surged late, trimming the deficit to a single possession in the final minute, but Chicago answered with disciplined execution and clutch free-throw shooting. The Bulls’ ability to protect the ball and convert late opportunities ultimately proved decisive.
Chicago’s offense again carried the night, as the team surpassed 120 points for the fourth time in six games. The Bulls have now scored at least 125 points in three straight contests, underscoring a dramatic offensive uptick following a difficult early-December stretch.
Defensively, the Bulls remained inconsistent but resilient. While Atlanta found success attacking in transition and exploiting matchups, Chicago made key stops when it mattered most, particularly in the final two minutes.
The victory also extended the Bulls’ road success, giving them four straight wins away from the United Center and reinforcing growing confidence within the locker room. With momentum building and several contributors finding rhythm, Chicago continues to look like a team gaining traction as the season approaches its midpoint.
The Bulls return home next to face the Philadelphia 76ers, looking to extend their winning streak and climb closer to the Eastern Conference’s top eight.
