  1. I would love to see the Dodgers give someone a contract that takes the lockout into a factor. Such as a 3-year deal for Bichette with the pay being 45 million dollars in 2026, 10 million dollars in 2027, and 45 million dollars in 2028. It would be 100 million in total but with the knowledge that 2027 may be a half season so that Bichette loses half of 10 million dollars instead of half of 33.3 million dollars (if the deal was evenly split between the 3 years). Play with the numbers of course. Could be 40/10/40 (90 total) or 35/10/35 (80 total) but with any option minimizing how much the player would lose as a result of the lockout.

All the Dodgers care about is having that player on their playoff roster so as long as baseball is played at some point in 2027 they benefit from having that player. If I am a player getting a deal starting in 2026 and going through at least 2027 I would want my 2027 salary to be the least and pad the other years to avoid losing out as much during the lockout. Kind of surprised I have not seen anyone do that yet.
