Could the St. Louis Cardinals SEND Nolan Arenado, JoJo Romero to Mariners? Trade Rumors SWIRL

JD Hafron breaks down the ongoing trade speculation swirling between the Cardinals and Mariners, raising questions about Arenado’s declining offense, JoJo Romero’s potential as a trade sweetener, and what Seattle really needs to complete its World Series puzzle. The conversation spotlights the shifting value of Cardinals veterans and teases just how high the asking price still is for Donovan.
Key topics include St. Louis’s hunt for veteran starting pitching, potential fits like Zach Eflin and Jose Quintana, and the ongoing quest to balance a young, unproven staff with experienced arms. Do you think the Mariners and Cardinals will actually make a trade this offseason?
We don't need to be wasting resources on old guys. Just saying we don't have a competitive outlook for the next two or three seasons. Invest in digging that young talent from the rough.
Happy 71st Birthday to the Wizard of Oz! Time sure does fly by. 🎉🎊✌🏻🎅
Happy birthday Ozzie.
Would Seattle give up Logan Gilbert?
Ben Williamson was leading the AL id defensive runs saved when he was sent down at -6 and hit .250 for the year. He is thought of as a perennial gold glove candidate. But he had no power
In minors he hit .314 last year
Cardinsls would have to eat slmost all of Arenado contract for next 2 years, throw in Romero, and get probably a top 20 prospect in return
trade warning track nolan, asap. bag of hitting balls is a good trade coming back.
Nado will be in spring training as a cardinal.
"Smith corks one into right down the line! It may go? GO CRAZY FOLKS! GO CRAZY!" Jack Buck
I see Dbacks and Angels substantially more likely with us paying off at minimum 80% of the contract to them to take Nado.
Why aren't you talking about how the Cardinals ONCE AGAIN didn't get paid on their TV deal?? Do you really think they're doing an all out rebuild or moving the team closer to being a small market team? I honestly think the Cardinals are going to trade away anyone who makes money, the payroll not including what they're paying to move players, will be around 40 million when its all said and done. Then a couple years go by, when they're no longer paying down traded players, they'll sit around 50 million, but add a couple guys who could be traded at the deadline… payroll for the Cardinals in my opinion will sit around 80 million for the next 3 to 5 years, and by the time each of those seasons are over they'll be back down to 50 million after trades. OWN IT… Cardinals are going ALL IN on small market team. Cardinals will get that money from revenue sharing, as attendance drops to record lows, sponsorship goes to record lows, and tv revenue goes to record lows. Cardinals aren't trying to win stop kidding yourself… the goal is to bring the payroll down between 40 to 85 million a year, and just keep on piling up younger players. Two years remaining TRADE TRADE… this will go on for the next decade. Cardinals are now totally irrelevant and maybe the worst team in baseball 2026.
Nolan Arenado will get traded to the Angels for a Class A player.
Yes on Quintana.
I hope it's not Donovan. I'm a Mariners fan and I don't want him. We already have a 2B rookie who I think can handle the job just fine…I hope it's not Arenado
Quintana a good choice
I think Seattle would do a PKG like they sent Tampa Bay for Arozarena maybe a little more. My guess is Bloom and Co are asking for an arm and a leg. Whoever we deal with I want a PKG of prospects that don't have to go on the 40 man right away. I like Eflin on a one year deal..Giolito on a 2 yr deal with a club option for a 3rd year…. Michael Lorenzen 1 yr deal..Chris Paddock 1 yr deal ….Zach Littell 1 yr with a 2nd yr club option
Happy birthday to The Wizard! Seeing him do a backflip is what got me to watching the Cards with my granddad. It's what made me a Cardinals fan. Thanks Ozzie!
I Have weird feeling that we'll have Arenado until he IS a free-agent. Otherwise, I'd think it would have happened by now.
Cards should not have traded their best power bat. Should have kept him to bat behind Nado so Nado would get better pitches to hit. Thereby raising his batting stats and then traded both at the summer trade deadline. It's Blooming spilt milk now.
Happy birthday Ozzie.
I worked with your step dad Sammy in Okc , met you in 1985..
What a treat .
I still think you were one of the best shortstops ever..
❤❤❤❤❤
“Dream, dream, dream, dream.” To quote an ooooold song. Jettisoning Arenado will cost Bill a LOOOOT of $$$.
I still would keep Donnie .
He's proven , still got him for 2 years..
I get it why Bloom wants to trade him but he's the best player the cards have , he makes peanuts ..
No guarantee the players we get will pan out , make an impact ..
Definitely cut ties with noot , arenado .
