Austin Reaves will miss at least 4 weeks after suffering a calf injury on Christmas Day vs. Houston.

Lakers guard Austin Reaves will miss at least four weeks due to a strained gastrocnemius muscle in his left calf. The Lakers announced the extent of Reaves’ injury on Friday; he will be re-evaluated late in January.

Reaves, who is averaging career bests in points (26.6), rebounds (5.2) and assists (6.3) through 23 games, missed three games earlier this month due to a strained left calf.

He returned to the lineup from the bench and played 22 minutes in a 132-108 loss to Phoenix on Tuesday. Reaves then started the Lakers’ next game, a Christmas Day collision against Houston, but only played 15 minutes.

Reaves has played at least 60 games in each of his four NBA seasons heading into this one. He played a career-best 82 games in 2024 and played 73 games – all starts – last season. The 27-year-old has started 22 of 23 games played, and he’s shooting 50.7% so far. He’s also taking a career-high 16.2 shots per game this season.

Reaves had 12 points and didn’t play in the second half of Thursday’s loss to Houston.
