I think the person writing these notes in an open article forgot to sort of finish their point. Contreras signing gives Casas time to recover properly without pressure knowing we have a 1B option. Contreras could provide catcher depth despite being reallocated to 1B mostly only 1 year ago, but was mostly flexed to DH and catcher. Because of the DH notion, Yoshida could become a question mark as DH given the OF overflow, but also the injuries could mean Yoshida could be flexed there.
Essentially, given Contreras was mostly catcher and DH prior to last year, I *think* the article of “notes“ was trying to demonstrate how he can be extremely flexible with the complimentary, dynamic situation we have in various positions despite the overflow of OFs, the nEd for Casas to heal properly, and depending on both, how our ctcher burnout rate is given Wong‘s questionable performance.
