  1. McNeil was my wifeโ€™s favorite and she cried lol. Very unlike her so I kinda thought she might be pregnant again for a second ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  2. I’ll get downvoted for this but I loved McNeil. Cant believe another player physically accosted him and the fans blamed McNeil for it.

  3. You know what I wonโ€™t miss? Not winning the division. Not winning the pennant. Not winning a World Series.

  4. Say what you want about him, that was a hell of a goodbye especially to a fanbase that treated him the way some of you did. I’m gonna miss the ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ

  5. Felt like he played hard, gave a shit, was willing and able to play almost every where, and is one of only two Mets in franchise history to win a batting title. He was volatile and the last two seasons not great, but I was a fan and will miss him next season.

  6. Rumors and speculation aside, if you watch McNeilโ€™s demeanor on the field and listen to him interact with the media, you can absolutely tell he is not the easiest person to get along with.

  7. He was the only player to get as mad as we were during the bad stretches and people hated him for it.

  8. Still rock his jersey first and foremost and will still rock his jersey first and foremost.

I only have him and deGrom rn so I’d get a new one, but, uhh… well….

  9. I still remember the discourse around him and Pete back in 2018. People wanted both of them promoted after how they started their minor league seasons. Maybe my memory is failing me but the vibes on here around McNeil being really black and white. Felt like most folks were either really excited about him or didn’t believe in him.

I also remember Mickey Callaway sitting McNeil and Nimmo against lefties that year even when the season was lost. What an incredibly dumb baseball mind that man had.

Sad that all three of them are gone now. I feel like Jeff would’ve been useful to keep around but I also understand the team moving on.

  10. Loved McNeil the athlete, couldn’t stand the player. An incredible ball player throwback to another era, just felt like he could do everything.

The vibes just were not it, the visible frustration anger it just wore on me and I’m a guy who was a constant McNeil champion. I hope he does well with the As and I think he will be a great mentor to those young guys and help get them over the hump.

  11. Iโ€™ll miss him. Great moments for the Mets. I wish him nothing but the best & will happily clap for him when he returns

  12. Iโ€™m probably in the minority and itโ€™s probably a lot to do with my optimistic nature, but Iโ€™ve grown to be excited about this new chapter in Mets baseball.

I loved Alonso, Nimmo and Diaz but trading McNeil was the final move from the 2018-2025 era of Mets baseball. There were some great memories in that span, a few great seasons, but we are onto a Lindor and Soto team.

Good luck to Jeff, Pete, Brandon and Edwin. Letโ€™s go Mets!

  13. It’s just absurd to me that everyone gets on him for being a perfectionist and getting upset with himself when he doesn’t perform but have absolutely no issues with Francisco lindor smiling and laughing it up without a care in the world during some of the worst stretches of his career, stretches that cost us games. I’ll take the fire guy over the chill guy any day
