[Freep] 4 teams chasing Alex Bregman in free agency – but not Tigers (yet)

I thought I read they signed him?
He clearly didn’t want to be here all that badly last year. Now he’s another year older, another year further removed from his peak, and with another injury to his name.
Fuck Bregman
He’s probably asking for more years than he deserves. It would be nice to have him but not if we have to hand out the same length of contract we offered him last year. We’d basically just be trading one of his prime years (last year) for another extra year when he’s even older at the end of his contract.
That, and if we’re going to be serious about re-signing Skubal next year (we are not extending him this off-season), and it’s either Bregman or Skubal, I’d rather save payroll for Skubal money.
The mystery team makes it five teams.
Give it time. Maybe this will drag out into February again and they’ll low ball him with an offer
They need a shortstop more anyone would be an upgrade over Sweeney
He fucked around with us all last offseason and then ran off with the Red Sox’s last minute, not interested in doing that again
Good. Injury prone and aging player that doesn’t have an offensive game that translate to Comerica at the salary he will command. He will need to be a DH or 1B by year 2 of his contract.

There’s no reason for us to chase Bregman, we already have too many guys rotating through DH and he knows he needs to sign somewhere with a short porch in left if he doesn’t want to be a boat anchor.

If we sign him to a team friendly deal sure. Otherwise let him walk and give that money to someone who wants to be here.
Lol do we really want to give him another offer that he’s only interested in for leverage? Dude would have retired before signing for Chris
Would rather roll with our guys than take another run at him
A guy at (healthy) Bregman’s quality would rock but I’m not confident we get it. If we were to sign him I’d hope it’s solely to move him in a package for a bigger piece on a longer deal (or that would be willing to extend here)
