Fascinating breakdown I just saw of where the money came from for the four major sports in 2023.
No surprise the NFL was printing money from the National TV/Media deals and it keeps going up.
The NFL made more revenue from their TV deals than the other three leagues made in total.
Ticket Sales and Local TV meant a whole lot more to the other three sports than it did for football.

There goes that narrative about the Dodgers and their media deal. Ticket sales are still the bread and butter of a team. Invest in your team and people will show up with money to spend.
Ticket sales are higher in the other leagues because of the game count. NFL has a tiny fraction of the games, so stadium revenue will be lower.
That also means their media revenue is that much more insane.
Crazy how little ticket revenue is for the NFL when they charge so much.
The new NBA media deal is worth 10x more than the prior deal.
And NFL players get a higher % of league revenue than MLB players do. Even with a dreaded salary cap.

I’ve always made the argument that you could put NFL teams in the Dakotas, Montana, and Alaska and the franchises would still fare pretty well. Maybe not as good as the Patriots or Cowboys, but they’d still perform well.
The problem is almost never location. It’s always ownership.
Getting the ticket numbers you need for MLB doesn’t take a top 100 city. You could probably get enough excitement somewhere like Huntsville or Birmingham.
