STALLED: Why Cincinnati Reds’ Moves for J.J. Bleday & Dane Myers FRUSTRATE Fans Seeking CHANGE

Cincinnati Reds fans left questioning the front office’s vision after Nick Krall brings in Dane Myers and JJ Bleday for the outfield. Can these underwhelming low-risk, “mid” moves truly push the Reds into postseason contention, or are they just repeating last year’s frustrating strategy?nnSteve and Jeff break down the implications of these additions, comparing Myers and Bleday to Will Benson, Spencer Steer, TJ Friedl, and Gavin Lux—highlighting glaring similarities and stagnant OPS+ numbers. The conversation spotlights Nick Krall’s gamble on unproven talent over headline-making signings, the DFA of Keegan Thompson and Lyon Richardson, and whether this signals the end of meaningful offseason upgrades. Hot topics include bullpen changes, possible trades involving Luis Robert, and what it means for Cincinnati’s battle against improving NL Central rivals. Are the Reds truly ready for opening day—or just running in place?

  1. I like the Beday move the best of the two. Don't know what they want with Meyer, except they got a little experience for a #18 prospect straight up. I dont think they're done yet.

  2. These guys look like mid-season DFA candidates. I'm sure Nick Krall is consulting with Phil Castellini on how to announce this to the public. That should make for something entertaining

  3. There has to be a move incoming and if I had to guess, Friedl might be involved. Bleday and Myers both play CF better than Friedl.

Either way, I gotta imagine that one or all of Friedl, Benson and Lux are gone in some type of trade

  4. Are these deals in a vacuum or are they now playing into the fact that FanDuel Sports Network is likely bankrupt unless DAZN buys them, and then the Reds will be forced to go with MLB to broadcast games next season at a much lower payment rate, and now the Reds are re-adjusting next season payroll? Unless there's a trade coming up, I can definitely see this as the end of their free agency acquisitions/adding to payroll without subtracting.

  5. I’m actually happy didn’t trade for Luis Roberts Jr. It would have cost the Reds at least 2 to 3 pitching prospects. Pitching is a premium. I don’t think the Reds are done. I would like to see the Reds trade with Baltimore Orioles. Like a Chase Petty for someone Ike Irish. A replacement for Tyler Stephenson after this season. Duno is two years away. Duno and Ike could platoon. Right and left handed hitters.

  6. Position players are worse than end of 2025. Pitching is better if you consider the return of Williamson and Agular. These no name OF additions show you how little Reds think of Benson. Dunn has been talked about this off-season, not Benson.

  7. It’s evident the reds have no interest in ever putting a winning team on the field as reds fan we should be tired of this and should show it by not buying tickets or anything that has reds name on it

  8. I guess, the Luis Robert was the same old same, every off-season is the same, so instead giving Spencer Steer the chance. They are going to use. Theses loosers

  9. If they want to waste having one of the best managers then that's on them we don't control that what needs to happen is the Cincinnati native who loves the Reds who has the finances to buy out Castellini and let's win some championships this guy wants to be the majority owner but doesn't want to spend no money then what the hell you doing that for because he's only doing it to make a profit he doesn't care about championships that is very obvious from the junk that comes out of their mouths
