4 guys blocking 2 up the middle rushers, Skip is woefully out of position, GIbbs had zero shot against Ginkle, Sewell is blocking the on field logo. I'm not even sure whose at fault, possibly literally everyone in a black jersey got something wrong.

I'm not surprised Goff fumbled, I am surprised he didn't die.

  1. The protection calls have suffered all season. One of the many things that made Frank great.

  2. Gibbs and the TE have to do better on this assignments to give the tackles a bit of time to come back and take the blocks. They both whiff on their blocks and the play is over.

Gibbs overall has been horrendous in pass protection this year. Need better from him next year

  3. The Vikings linebackers were showing pressure then dropped back at the snap. Gibbs and *Fisker whiffed on their blocks so Skip and Sewell couldn’t adjust and get there in time so both DEs almost had a free run at Goff.

  4. Can’t believe all the people wanting to move on from Goff at worst he’s a top 15 QB and tell me who is coming here that will be better. If you protect him he can be a top 5 qb so just invest in the oline.

  5. Probably because they expected Gibbs and Firsker to be covered by the edges, when they the edges completely ignored them and blitzed. So the OL double teamed the middle two linemen

Goff looks a little fixated on his first 3 reads who are all on the left of him, Saint, Jamo then Firsker. Gibbs was open and was the last read, but ran out of the little time he had

  6. The pre-snap read was a blitz. They were expecting 6 rushers and man coverage. Goff is looking to get the ball out quick. The tackles are expecting to need to block in.

The Vikings completely fooled them so Goff is looking at 3 receivers with 7 guys in coverage so no where quick to go with the ball. The tackles stepped in with no one to block and Gibbs and the TE got blown up on their blocks and when beat didn’t get out fast enough to give Goff a dump off.

This play in isolation is just a bad read and the defense beating the offense. It happens. Add it to 5 other turnovers and only rush for 2 ypc and you get your ass beat and look dysfunctional.

  7. Bad blocking scheme and prep. for a 3-4 defense we face twicd annually and should have a plan for.

  8. Goff gave four chops to signal minimum coverage, but it’s believed that the defense thought they got five chops which meant no coverage. Just a miscue

  9. Looks like the LG and RG each took a man, leaving the center with no one. I have no fucking idea what the tackles are doing. Who’s that guy right in front of Goff, is that Monty? He’s also locked in on the 2 guys already blocked while Gibbs is fighting for his life. Skipper and …. I think that’s our TE got beat by one guy.

Funnily enough. the IOL seems like they’re the only ones doing what they’re supposed to do. In theory those two edge rushers should be covered by the RT and RB and the LT and TE. All 4 of them fucked it up.

  10. Probably have to see the pre-snap alignment to see where the breakdown was. These things are usually on the center, but who really knows.

  11. God our blocking fucking sucked

Hard to tell.from this screenshot, but the only thing I can see would be Monty slipping out for a pass

  12. Push the edges wide, Goff steps up, time to make 1 read then dump to Gibbs if it’s not there. Gibbs is a terrible blocker, and the OL was too banged up to be consistent. But, you can’t not try plays based on hindsight 3 days later. Almost any play is inches from a sack or tip or touchdown. FYI hindsight is going to drive you crazy
