On-off numbers with Jokic – shows that Cam Johnson is extremely important to the bench.

I miss Cam already. What surprised me so far is his defensive rebounding. I was expecting a guy who could play in systems (offensively and defensively) make shots, think past 3, etc. But he always seems to be getting his hands on contested rebounds, and it’s comforting.
This is from last year, and it shows the same pattern. Pickett is actually very serviceable and good with Jokic, but is essentially doing cardio without him.
We should use Pickett alongside Jokic to get Jamal off the floor earlier so he can stagger more with the bench, and avoid playing Pickett without Jokic at all costs. Keep him around 10-15 MPG… untill CB/AG return.
I can live with losing games if we lose the Jokic minutes but i can’t live with losing games where we play such trash in the non jokic minutes. Everyone in this fanbase is just using the excuse that we have 3 starters down and not the fact that Adelman has been a horrible coach and his ‘defense’ is laughable. The team just looks lost on every defensive play and we can’t expect 2 starters to deduct 10 points from each game with their defense. PWAT and Spencer Jones are meant to be good defenders and the way our fanbase talks about AG+CB you would think that they are prime Giannis and Jrue Holiday when in reality they were part of our horrible defense last year also. The expectation that the 2 of them are just going to fix everything is just delusion and cope because people don’t want to admit Adelman can’t coach and Jokic and Murray are equally to blame for the defensive issues. Can anyone give me 1 game this season where PWAT has shut down the guy he is guarding because the way people talk about how much he is going to get paid is just stupid when he makes the defense worse. We should trade him whilst his value is the highest because he does nothing that Spencer can’t do. Bruce and Val are also not going to be able to play in the playoffs against good teams so i would rather trade PWAT and Zeke for 2 rotational players before we give up all our cap space and assets trying to resign PWAT based on his reputation rather than his actual ability. You can all say i am wrong but everything i have said is related to the 30+ games i have watched this season and nothing seems to be improving.
Not playing the worst possible lineups would also help the bench not be terrible. Pickett/Bruce/THJ/Julian/Val is the worst lineup possible you could construct with the players available.
DA has a bad hand, but he has to play it better than this.
It would be interesting to see Val’s on off numbers for comparison. Where did you find these stats?
I noticed before cam went down he replaced a ton of the Murray stagger. Bummer he went out cuz it was so good
These numbers line up pretty well with eye test. Can see how Gordon and Braun with Jokic are real positives to our defense, and it was very clear how well the bench ran with Cam. He was doing all the little things as a leader on the floor and handled it well when the ball came to him, I thought he was taking over Murray’s spot as the staggered leader with the bench and Murray could stay on with Jokic more.
I know they are starters but Gordon, Braun, and Cam are all 3 such key players for us, I hope we get Braun back really soon and Gordon quickly as well.
